On that rationale the GP's would be the best racing you can watch but in reality how often is that the case? No doubting that the track craft of world class riders on a decent track can produce brilliant racing but any riders of similar ability can produce that, i certainly don't buy that higher levels is required to produce excitement, in fact lower grades can add to unpredictability which brings anticipation in different ways.6 points

A geographical league makes sense from a team point of view, but for a rider it would make more sense if the teams were spread all over the country in both leagues. For example there's a kid who lives in Edinburgh. His teams could be Edinburgh in the NDL and Workington in the NT rather than a north/south split where his teams would be Edinburgh and Birmingham/Kent/Plymouth etc. Less travelling for home meetings for individual riders. So it's swings and roundabouts. Although I do understand Workington's issues with travel.3 points

Take away the 7 you mention and your watching the same riders as Championship though. Not much in it IMO.2 points

Ndl is often the best racing Yes you don't have the better riders and stylish riders But the racing is closer and more of them are trying hard Just the machinery and ability is lower standard2 points

This a good Poole team and I don’t see any teams with a better 1 to7. yes it’s not as good as last years but that’s speedway. Last Poole won 3 titles all rather comfortably. So it looks more competitive this season which is good. I don’t see why so many are desperate to put this Poole team down. They’ll be absolutely fine. arguably the best number 1 in the league possibly the best 3 and 4 pairing a number 1 riding at 5 a reserve who will be fantastic at home and good away2 points

If the "envious eyes" bit was fact then nobody would watch NDL and the like. Yes the Premiership has some top riders but it doesn't automatically make the racing more exciting to watch. There's no denying that watching Vinnie and Tobias was worth the fee.2 points
-
And paying the same price for the privilege. Couldn’t watch that dross every week there’s very little to get excited about there! There HAS to be envious eyes looking up to the Premiership and seeing fans watching the likes of Sayfutdinov, Doyle, Holders, Woffinden, Fricke, Bewley, Kurtz, whilst their leading lights are Richard Lawson! Used to have Shovlar telling all and sundry when Poole were in the top flight that he’d NEVER support lower league racing because it was crap..2 points

You've left Robert Lambert out. I'd probably have Charles Wright ahead of King and/or Ellis. And I think Harris has retired from Team GB. 6 man teams, 18 heats, none of this 15 heat nonsense.2 points

Am I the only person who thinks this is daft. It may be good for Poole fans and if it wasn't for double up rules it could work. But as thing stand the conflicting riders thing should have made it a non starter. This makeshift team thing is like a friendly challenge select. Even if they were to get top class gp riders to even the gap it's a bit unfair as every other team needs riders who fully commit. Maybe run a shield for the winners of both competitions at the lower levels track. I remember a good challenge meeting at lynn vs Peterborough. El vs pl. Ended 44 vs 46. Was a cracker. If I'm wrong then sell it to me.1 point

Think you have to complete 2 consecutive seasons in the GP to then be assessed as an 81 point

Funnily enough if he had wanted to do Championship we could have had Ben Cook instead of Kerr.1 point

For me it looks bad that it's still listed as TBC. Why would it take so long for Poole to confirm their involvement in the KOC? Doesn't strike me as something befitting a "professional" sport!1 point

The Sheffield/Poole tie is shown as TBC on the Sheffield website... I wonder if the reality of arranging this tie is sinking in?1 point

That would mean Rew & Jepperson at #2 & #4. Brummies would need Zmarzlik as the other rider to be competitive is Sedgeman signed1 point

I'm very positive, they won't have 0.96 available come July 1st. Tbh I can certainly see this team winning the league (with Cairns).1 point

We’re talking 2025 season here, not beyond. Arch is correct, King is still currently a better rider than Rew. At least here. Let’s see what King, Ellis and Rew average over the course of the season to see if the right decision was made. Time will tell on this one.1 point

The only question mark around the inclusion of King was his fitness. Now it’s been updated he’s had successful surgery and is on course to be 100% fit by March, then he’s absolutely worth his place in the team. One had to go from King, Ellis and Rew, a fit Danny King is better than both of them currently. Some won’t like to admit that, but the stats don’t lie.1 point

Good luck to Brennan. I dont think anyone gives a shinny shi#te if he stays , if he goes, whys wherefores etc etc etc... Everyone just wants him to progress, whoever he rides for... im happy to have Rew and see someone different this season!1 point

Oh don't get me wrong they need to generate some excitement but given this lad has been racing in Poland's u24s for 3 odd years, is now too old and hasn't been picked up by a senior team (as far as I can see), perhaps tempering expectations may have been a wiser move. That being said he's in the Aussie champs so lets see how he goes against the big boys!1 point

i can see why they were asked but id agree with that youd imagine the expectation is that sheffield will tear them a new one and theyll be out in the quarters so it doesnt get too complicated1 point
-
Just hoping the fans get behind Danny as I feel it will be tough for him riding at 2 but the expectations should be lower For example Home To Belle Vue Heat 1…. Doyle Kurtz King Cook Heat 6… Doyle Bewley King Zischke Heat 8… King Cook Jenkins Mulford Heat 10 Doyle Lidsey King Blodorn Thats 6 points for Danny and doing his job… yes he could beat Lidsey but he could be beaten by Cook or Blodorn I hope true fans realise that he will have tough races at 2 and 6 or 7 points is fine not the 10 or 11 people expect1 point

Not quite my reading, I think with Brennan it's more that the move to Ipswich was more attractive, with the team they have he can learn from them. If Ipswich wasn't available maybe he'd have stayed at Brum. I don't know him and haven't asked him but there's other reasons why riders change clubs, not just that they don't want to be at one.1 point
-
my understanding is that rowe will ride for sheff and in any subsequent rounds the prem side would again have priority over lawson cook etc1 point
-
Someone previously suggested racing the Poole vs Sheffield tie as the last QF match, this way Poole can use Lawson, Kerr, Cook, Rowe & pick 3 riders who have already been knocked out of the competition. That seems the best solution here.1 point

Have seen on the internet, Kent Eagles have a website http://kenteagles.com David Norris is a Co-Promoter/Team Manager and Jake Knight is Team Manager1 point

For all we know Palm-Toft & Sedgmen wanted to return but Birmingham may be looking for stronger replacements? Don't think you can blame Birmingham for Lindgren, Lampart etc not wanting to race in GB. If the issue was specific to Birmingham, they would've joined another club. No doubt the biggest loss is Brennan not wanting to return.1 point
-
I'd counter that with he's not likely to get extra rides as he would with a lower team. Probably get a maximum 5 rides per meeting whereas might get 7 most meetings elsewhere. Anyway it seems Poole's season seems to be resting on a 15 year old. Was very impressive at ashfield in the youth meeting and I'm sure be a success. But I don't see him coming in and scoring double figures immediately personally1 point

Ivan Mauger was quoted as saying that his style needed "tidying" up as Andrew appeard to be riding four bends continually locking up and should have been smoother but I guess that's what made speedway so exciting back then to watch...individualist. Riders now look all the same.1 point

I hear that the F1 World Champion, Max Verstappen, is to do Community Service in Rwanda for swearing during an interview. Where would it be appropriate for former speedway World Champion, Tai Woffinden, to do Community Service in view of his past tendency to use foul language, and what should he be obliged to do?1 point

Rob Grant junior had a peculiar leg very far out going in to the bends sure his dad was the same? Although to young to have seen him ride but sure someone will know better…1 point

Dont get too excited too soon, lot of rumours about discontent in this NDL 2 set up . It certainly doesnt make sense geography wise when Workingtons neighbours, Edinburgh , Redcar and Sheff/Scuny dont have to travel to Plymouth , Kent or Kings Lynn in mid week for a meaningless development fixture. Surely a north south split would have been more sensible and might even attract fans to travel.1 point
