I wouldn't panic Poole fans, they always build great sides. They are probably the only club that takes real care in selecting riders. I mean Tobias Thomson was a masterstroke of signing. Came from nowhere and everyone thought he would be bang average. Poole saw something else. A rider with experience and potential to improve on his average beating riders that are far younger and less experienced. They don't just sign a rider for the sake of averages, they look at the finer details. That's what makes them better at team building.6 points

Imo, the best league signing since sayfutinow by Ipswich, the guy is a real racer, over enthusiastic? Yes, but the sport needs the Vinnie foords, as a little side note watching an interview with Peter adams a while back when asked about the sort of rider he would manage he is talking about riders like foord5 points

Declans form in Australia is quite good, beats zischke on multiple occasions and for the Killeen boys there from WA so don’t really compete on the eastern side of the country. definitely a better rider then hook and wood etc. Zaine was having a good end of season in 2022 just before his big crash at scunny bagging double figure scores and beating heat leaders and I had heard that he was just about to do a deal for a top league team the week he crashed. He didn’t ride much last year in 2023 but has rode all year this year in the Darcy ward meetings and won that series. I expect him to return to scunny next year ready to go.5 points

I think Lawson is a big loss for you guys, everytime I have seem him ride for you either at Owlerton or Foxhall hes been one of your best riders on the night. Like you say a solid look about it however!4 points

Howarth got 7 for Sheffield at Leicester whilst riding at no.2 which is the sort of score you'd expect a no.2 to get. Fricke is also a good team rider as shown by how well he rode with both Lawson last year and Sedgman the year before. Of course it's a downgrade of sorts and Lawson was by far the best Lions rider last year, but ultimately what cost us last year was 3-5 being so inconsistent. Masters and Douglas might be at their level now but Becker will be the key. If he can become the rider everyone thinks is there that could be a trump card. Also there's no guarantee that this years big improvers for other teams will continue to improve, so any team, even Ipswich, might not have it all their own way.3 points

well they are not like for like replacements, so definitely agree here - someone in the other slots has to have an improvement3 points

Liebmann was always a big risk on a 4 point average and was only signed for headlines and PR.3 points

that could be a deciding factor that made Vinnie move to one of the greatest speedway tracks in the U.K.3 points

How many years has Musielak been riding in the UK? How many of those years did he go AWOL? All you Lynn fans can stick your fingers in your ears and go blah blah blah and blame everyone else til the cows come home. The fact is he’s never been seen as anything other than a loyal rider in the UK for Donkeys years until he rocked up at the Norfolk circus. As for your “stable environment” comment, LOL.2 points

And what about when the same reasons reappear next season? Say what you want about Buster/Lynn but at least it’s a stable environment. He might be out of a job come May…2 points

I feel Vinnie should have stayed, the fans took to him more than so many riders have over the years. Lets hope it's not proved a bad move!2 points

“We like to do things by the book” if that is a sly dig at Ipswich then he’s just made himself look more daft. As said above, Morris has confirmed the points limit was agreed a month ago during meetings leading up to the AGM. If Ipswich choose to then reveal their team before the conference then quite frankly, that’s none of Tolley’s business or anyone else’s come to that. Quit the jealous salty snide remarks and concentrate on building your own team that the Birmingham supporters can enjoy watching.2 points

There seems to be an air of jealousy surrounding Ipswich's team ? Are Ipswich becoming the new 'Poole' ? Fair play to any club that can build a team worth watching!2 points

Poole could fit him in, just decided to go another way with team building. Can see him greatly improving, Poole's loss is Workington's gain.2 points

I have to agree it doesn't look a bad team, but the fact it's clearly weaker than this years team, probably makes it look worse than it is. Especially with Ipswich getting stronger.2 points

Seen worse guesses. Been told half the side but can't reveal anything but it's better than I thought it would be2 points

It's really not a bad team, It's a decent solid 1-7 imo. It's just other teams rumoured 1-7's are making Leicester's look average on paper but as we all know Speedway isn't ridden on paper.2 points

With so many home track specialists a two leg aggregate match could be ideal.... Looking at Oxford, Leicester and Birmingham currently (if their rumoured teams are true), then KL could definitely get in the Play Offs given their home results should bring a lot of victories...2 points

Cook guested for us at Oxford last season and got a pretty solid 9 points from 6 rides riding at No 5. But that is the risk with 6-7 point riders. By the very nature of their average, they can be inconsistent, especially away. I don’t think there is a Stars fan I know who is getting overly excited and sensing silverware, but we now have a solid side, full of riders that either have good connections to the club or are popular with fans in their own right (like Harris). The club has a rebuilding job to do and it won’t happen overnight, but from personally speaking to Rob he’s keen to get the club more competitive than we have been. Last season, despite all the troubles, we won more matches than both the 2022 & 2023 seasons combined. Though that is sadly probably more a reflection of how poor those sides were. But they’ve looked at the issues from last season and done the best to mitigate those for 2025. Ok, it’s not a side built on big names but it’s one I’m certainly looking forward to watching. Judging by the reaction on social media etc, I think the vast majority of Stars fans think the same. Roll on March.2 points

IF he wanted a full UK season he would go whoever offered him the most money like most riders. Pretty much end of.1 point

If the fixture is late June he’ll probably be gone by then. Bad eyelash or something keeping from the UK 😂1 point

But according to you, we won't be able to pay our riders next year with your usual prediction of us packing up mid season.1 point

You can admire and respect the capability of a person or an organisation, but liking them/it is often not guaranteed. Margaret Thatcher was an example ( for me).1 point

Even thought we are weaker at 2 with lawson departing for Howarth. Lets not forget how good Howarth was at when he was in the Championship at Leicester. Yes it's a different league but Stewart commented on the Lions website stating Kyle will get plenty of practice laps in before the season starts and during. He can ride the track well once he gets going. If cook does sign then it is an upgrade on Kemp who started the season with us. Again it's a risk but with Stewart working with him at Berwick you would like to think he can be a decent point scorer like Kyle if he gets dialled in. So really the team hasn't changed much. It really all depends on how Kyle, Craig and Luke all progress. If they can get better then the Lions should have another decent season.1 point

And Mr Tolley can say what he likes, providing it's within the Law of the country and within SCB rules. Does what he's said add some spice to things? Yes! Could it fall flat and leave him looking foolish? Yes! But he takes that chance and, as you'd say, that's none of anyone else's business😁1 point

I'd suggest RS picks should be riders "too good" for the NDL. But still not ready to step up to the Prem fully.1 point
