Rather than make all these novelty changes it is a pity nothing is done to get the best riders lining up!6 points

Should BV press be announcing other people's team news? Should not be saying anything til Redcar have announced it themselves imo.5 points

Troy gets a bad press but twice this season at the 'meet the riders' and again last night he has spoken with humour and intelligence. He appears to be very personable and happy in his own skin. Done himself and Worky proud last season and fully deserves the fans vote as Rider of the Season.4 points

The argument about moving off race night doesn’t wash with me! A repeat of the fiasco of last season may well be the final nail, they haven’t got a clue or don’t care what the fans want. As a business model, it’s a joke.3 points

No news, but imo batch talked positively about his season at workyand hinted at a return ( that's the way i heard his interview) on a very good note Tate won the NSW under 21 championships on his 1st ride after injury2 points

With 1h and 1a next season again off nights are less of an issue. But lots of assumptions in your post Do Redcars crowd suffer ? I don’t know do you ?. is shouting the loudest and guessing who wins your opinion or is it based on information you have that this is fact ?. Nothing wrong with your opinion but don’t make out it’s Scunthorpe or Glasgows fault with nothing to suggest it is , other than personal opinion.2 points

Going back to my early childhood (early 1950’s) our next door neighbours had a V8 Pilot. Just looked it up on Wiki…3,5Litre, 80 bhp, 0-60 in 21 seconds and 18 mpg. Things have certainly changed. My 1.4 Citroen reaches 60 in half the time and recently on a long run to Wales achieved 67 mpg.1 point

Must watch this on catch up. I remember Greg Mackie from the old Northside training track, shocking way to have your life taken away at the tender age of 18.1 point

You know this is nonsense right?? Under that theory every track should have between 5,000-10,000 every week. There's always something that 'breaks the camels back' to make someone to no longer go. In 2024 the "use it or lose it" speech doesn’t suffice anymore. Value for money is the be all & end all to a fan.1 point

How very loyal of you. If i dont get the team i want im not going?. At least youve got a team to watch. Be grateful1 point

The worst example was in 2018 when Lakeside regularly had matches cancelled by the Management Committee as they were bottom of the pecking order and if they had raced scheduled Fixtures a certain Promoter could not get a Guest who had broken his leg very early in the season.1 point
-
The assumption being your promoter told you , from that respect you are only hearing that side of things so you are assuming that is true. Also from memory we raced Redcar not so long ago on a Saturday afternoon and our crowd was way down must have been a real lose leader but I suppose you forgot about that. Apologies as this is a Berwick thread I will leave it at that.1 point

Similar tracks shape wise but track material very different. Claus has said in interviews he likes clay, something Workington can't go too heavy with it due to the tracks location.1 point

What assumptions? yes they do, the turnstiles figures dont lie. Our club promoter told those assembled at the club social, after the AGM, exactly who shouted what and how come they were allowed to run on a Friday despite the clash and protests with their local rivals, and also how Workington were told they couldnt run on a Friday, because Scunthorpe were ! If you think every club is equal around that top table then you need to give your head a shake, there have been loads of instances of ‘favouritism’ over the years and even the Premiership play offs this season with the rule book being ignored when it suits. Whilst the top table is run by club owners then it will never be run ‘for the good of the sport’.1 point

Would teams need to race on an alternate race day though? 16 home matches, 6 away Fridays (Edinburgh, Glasgow, Scunthorpe) is 22 Fridays. There's 27 Fridays between April & September. Race play-offs in October (no koc). Still leaves 4 spare Fridays for rain-offs (one used for best pairs). Worst case scenario would have to race an occasional alternate race day?1 point

The problem with the football analogy is that those teams will never run out of opposition to play, that's a real possibility for speedways premier league. Leave Birmingham and Lynn if you like to it but don't complain when there are only 5 teams left1 point

I have looked at my records of those days and can only find black and white photographs. I can do no better than recommend the following Link: http://www.defunctspeedway.co.uk/Sunderland.htm If you scroll down you will find the 1974 Team near the bottom. Picture of the racejacket with the shield with the 'G' on it is the original 1974 racejacket*. (you can see on the Badge further up) If I remember correctly, the 'STARS' racejacket with the black 'G' on it was the final one. i) *Racejacket, Red Background with White Shield containing the letter 'G'. i)**Racejacket, Red Background with White Star containing Red Star with Black 'G' in the centre. I'm sorry but this is the best I can do. I hope it is of assistance to you. The excellent Website I recommend is hosted by John Skinner who has done a wonderful job for Speedway in general and North East Speedway in particular.1 point

Totally agree with this point. I hate to see winners just return to the pits. I can understand it if they’ve got a quick turnaround to their next outing or if there’s a mechanical issue but otherwise they should accept the appreciation of the crowd. Sensible statement from Danny Ford.1 point

Very sensible and makes complete sense. Poole are in the fortunate position of being well supported. For other clubs even the Championship is financially challenging. The big challenge for those running and promoting the sport is how to make it more appealing in order to effect an increase in supporter numbers. Riders must also realise they also have an integral part to play in this, for instance way too many just ride back to the pits after winning races.1 point

Your football reference doesn’t really hold credibility because you do get rewarded following relegation from the Premier League through parachute payments. That gives you an advantage financially next year in the Championship and 9 times out of 10 at least one of the relegated teams gets promoted again the next season. How is that fair on the teams that were promoted from League One and have now been restricted from the previous seasons good performance?1 point

if you want to be a winner you have to be an arsehole on the track, you don't get anywhere being nice .. it's why Leigh Adams never won a world title. Nicki Pedersen away from the racetrack is one of the nicest people you'll meet, but on track, a winner1 point

Speedway is full of BS, half the riders haven’t a clue why they use something they just see a top rider use it and think they have to as well, the riders at the top understand that speedway is very rider specific, what works for 1 rider won’t work for another and around 50% of riders throw money at something that doesn’t work, I remember when I worked for Adam skornicki him telling me at a meeting his bike packed up and Jason crump lent him a bike, he said it was the worst bike he had ever raced, it didn’t want to turn but obviously it worked for Jason1 point

There has been a development at Dackarna. A person with access to Dackarna's bank accounts received the standard phishing phone call where the one who made the phone call pretends that he/she can help the victim "get their money back". According to dackarna's ordförande (chairman of the board) neither Dackarna or he perpetrator knew that this person had access to Dackarna's bank account. However somehow this person believed the perpetrator(s ) and two payments where made. One payment of 427 000 kronor and one of 249 000 kronor were made, in total almost 700'000 SEK (about 50K GBP). This is money that Dackarna uses during off season to manage the daily business and other costs that occur during off season. A worst case scenario is that Dackarnas will have to declare bankruptcy, but I don't how likely or unlikely this is. https://www.dagensvimmerby.se/nyheter/krim/e/169164/dackarna-om-grova-bedrageriet-kommer-fa-konsekvenser/ https://sverigesradio.se/artikel/dackarna-i-tufft-lage-efter-bedrageriet-kan-inte-utesluta-konkurs0 points
