I put a tenner on with bet 365 that he would sign with Oxford then fall out with everyone at Oxford and reneges the deal. He then becomes the 44th rider to sign for Glasgow and gets his throttle fixed so as it only turns the faster way. Waiting on my cash out offer so I care.5 points

Rumour is we are going to put the 42 riders we have signed names in a hat, draw them 7 at a time and run 6 teams. It may well reach the half century on here by Friday.5 points

My personal opinion is that the captaincy gets completely overplayed. There’s some influential riders in the pits at Ipswich that won’t be any more or less influential regardless of being captain or not. It does kind of feel that King is being needlessly criticised here. He’s inconsistent, he loses to people sometimes that you’d hope he wouldn’t. That’s why he’s a 6 pointer and not a 9 pointer. Every team in the league will have those riders also, Ellis is exactly the same. Can be excellent one meeting, absolute guff the next. I’d be happy with Ellis as well by the way. Absolutely no problem preferring one rider to another, we all have opinions but Gavan is right, some of the criticism is over the top and unnecessary. King follows the club’s social media and no doubt reads the comments. Some of the comments in the last few days will have hurt him, he’s only human.4 points

Your football reference doesn’t really hold credibility because you do get rewarded following relegation from the Premier League through parachute payments. That gives you an advantage financially next year in the Championship and 9 times out of 10 at least one of the relegated teams gets promoted again the next season. How is that fair on the teams that were promoted from League One and have now been restricted from the previous seasons good performance?4 points

One word. Loyalty! Got to love and respect Emil for what he has given to Ipswich, on and off the track. Doyle must love riding with him, looking over his shoulder or following him over the line knowing they’ve done it again. For me, probably biased but, line Emil and a Doyle up against any other top two and I’m confident we come out better 9/10!4 points

Could be fun when BSN rock up to cover a Glasgow v Glasgow meeting how confused is this going to make Adam Roynon.3 points

I met Emil after British GP at Cardiff around 12 years ago in the services on M4 on way home. He was having some his well earn't dinner and having narrowly missed out on winning the GP earlier. Came over to him and had quick thumbs up consoling him on not winning and said he should have won the meeting. The guy took time out from what he was doing and chatted to us and had some photos with us. He is not only a brilliant Speedway rider , he is a brilliant person too. He surely should have been a multiple World Champion by now. Great to see him back next year. Emil is a Top Man !! See you next year Emil.3 points

I genuinely don’t mind either. There’s a fag paper between them IMO so makes very little difference. Don’t see that position as vital as the others. Doyle and Emil are vital up top, Dan and JJ are vital as a reserve pairing, Brennan is vital as support for the top two. The other position in the engine room is probably the least vital in the whole team. Ellis summed up this year when interviewed during a live meeting, the top two score so many points, that it made the job’s easy for the others in the team.2 points

With Brennan at number 3 only leaves King Rew and Ellis to fill the 2 and 4 spots …. Preferably Rew and Ellis for me But for all the King haters I’m sure Danny riding at 2 or 4 would get 6 or 7 most home meetings and that’s more than enough People seem to forget Danny rode as a leader at 3 or 5 all season and was struggling with a bad injury yet averaged more than Ellis who rode at 2 or 4….. that’s nothing against Ellis by the way just speaking the facts2 points

Think it was resident, and has been previously stated buying a house next to a speedway stadium then complain that there is Speedway next to my house after purchasing it is madness. But no restrictions has been reported as to when the track can be used. Thankfully.2 points

The Championship made a rule of no guarantees either last season, or the season before.. I am sure all rules were followed...2 points

Something doesn't add up somewhere. There seems to be quite a lot of people not very subtly hinting at Ashton coming to Glasgow, but surely if he has, Oxford wouldn't be in the dark about it? And yet, they haven't said anything. Still a couple of weeks until we find out for sure, I guess. I'll get some good popcorn stashed away in case it turns out it's true, because I can imagine it would cause a stooshie, which would at least make for some entertainment 😄2 points

Definitely reads as an issue, rather than a positive signing. Hope it’s something else personally, love him or hate him he’s good for the League and we need more riders of his quality here rather than losing them.1 point

And it kept on happening, why? Sayfutdinov is as brave as a lion we all know that, he was trying a line that nobody else would touch because that’s what he does. But it cost him big time. What will he do next time he’s there? No matter how brave you are, it’s got to make you think twice. Is he gonna scrape the fence or kerb crawl? Nobody would blame him if it’s the latter and it’s the fans who’ll be denied watching one of the world’s best racers in full flow! Sorting the track has to be number 1 priority this winter.1 point

Pulling the dirt back from the fence would be a start. It surely can’t that difficult?1 point

Gotta feel for Oxford here as didn't they pay over the odds for him in the first place? So prob wanted a few seasons out of him.1 point

Wrong. Guarantees aren't uncommon. Some of the figures people make up and claim that No.1's get guaranteed are nonsense, but guarantees often happen at all levels. A youngster stepping in at reserve may even ask to be guaranteed 3 points.1 point

The “rumour” I heard was: Glasgow want Ashton, Ashton wants to go to Glasgow, Oxford say buy him then! Could be a load of crap for all I know, but that’s my rumour 🤷♂️1 point

Dan Thompson -25% was an absolute must. The only way we were going to squeeze in the team we have. We’re effectively over the limit from the start.1 point

I too wonder about Cairns, is he really everything he's cracked up to be? How riders respond to a step up is never predictable, man amongst boys - boy amongst men etc. Think back to the contrast between Max Perry's and Vinnie's response to Championship competition. I wish Cairns all the best, but it's not a forgone conclusion that he's going to do great things.1 point

I’d say we have bigger crowds at Ipswich than Sheffield, tbh tho it’s immaterial who has the biggest crowds just want to see every club bring in more punters and sponsors and keep speedway going in this country 👍1 point

And yet an awful lot of people take American sports seriously, despite numerous ways in which weaker teams are given a 'helping hand' (draft picks, revenue sharing, salary caps etc). Without support for weaker teams many tracks would have closed at some point in the past and in all likelihood been permanently lost to the sport, thus accelerating the sport's decline.1 point

I think there is improvement in Emil personally. Averaged 10.10 in 2023, this year 9.12. He struggled with engines both here and in Poland and couldn’t get to the bottom of the issues until mid season. Finally got going and then it was normal service resumed. Because of that he dropped a point off his average. There’s improvement there.1 point
