After visits to Norwich, Ipswich Witches, King’s Lynn Stars, and Diss Transport Festival, we’re excited to take the ‘Racing in the East’ touring exhibition to The Speedway Show this weekend. The exhibition explores the sport’s history in Cold War East Anglia, from the riders and teams who regularly crossed the Iron Curtain, to the communist-built bikes that graced the region’s tracks, and the Eastern Bloc sponsors which adorned club race jackets. We look forward to meeting visitors on Saturday. More on the exhibition and links to the free articles that underpin ‘Racing in the East’ can be found here.1 point

I'd imagine either their parent club i.e. a loan fee agreement or possibly the riders polish club1 point

Team building averages & a riders starting average are the same thing. I constantly said Brennan would start at reserve when he had his 25% reduction, only for so many people tell me I was wrong. But I was correct & he started at reserve. This year won't effect Dan or Anders as they'd be in the same position regardless of average used.1 point

Be great to get an Aces v Witches final. When you remember the titanic semi final of ‘23 with THAT heat 15. Terrific stuff, it would be get to see those four riders going for it again in a final.1 point

Don't know how it's a shorter drive to Plymouth, there's not much in it but it's extra mileage to Plymouth, plus Southern M4/M5 traffic to negotiate1 point

You made a good point there about Ben at the NSS. The general opinion on here is that we easily beat opponents around there due to many factors so sacrificing a few points means we still win but don’t hammer teams. Zach’s away average was actually higher than Bens so hopefully that will help turn some of those close losses into wins.1 point

I agree, I heard every rider from last season wanted to return so I'm guessing Stewart thought let's just stick to what we know works here and see if we can make the play offs again. It's not weaker or stronger than last season. Stronger at reserve but weaker with Lawson moving on for Howarth. If Cook can get firing then Howarth is a decent reserve. Stewart has worked with Howarth before and Cookie so it makes sense.1 point

I actually think it will be your side now after thinking about it. Just got a Stewart Dickson vibe to it, UK based 1-7 and just the one change from last years side so it ticks the continuity box as well. I know the Masters/Douglas rumours doing the rounds but I've got a hard time believing any rider would sign for Birmingham if they had multiple offers/intrest from other clubs. Birmingham can easily go under at any stage next season and they can easily fall behind in rider payments so I think they'll end up with 6 riders that nobody else wants tbh.1 point

A rider's 2025 starting average is their actual average achieved in 2024. The 2.5% is just for team building!1 point

LOL give over with this vomit inducing “we like to help others” cr@p. You’re not “releasing” Ben Cook to help others you fool, you’re releasing him because you’d rather keep the others. “The strong teams help the weak teams” LOL you’ve just pinched Zach Cook off Birmingham who had pencilled him in to their side, in exactly the same way Ipswich have with Brennan! Purely for your own clubs gain because you have to shed points. Stop pretending your club is holier than thou and you make sacrifices for the benefit of others and British Speedway. Your club does things out of self interest, every bit as much as everyone else. Unless you’re Connor Mountain of course. A young British rider trying to make a living here. Then you get tossed on to the scrap heap in a purely tactical move.1 point

You can double that. It’s Col’s favourite pastime predicting the demise of Doyle every winter. I mean, he’ll be right eventually! It’s been several years now that he predicted Doyle to be demoted to fourth best Aussie behind Kurtz, Fricke and Jack Holder. Think he was adding both of Wright’s Foxhall scores together from this year. He did ride well in those meetings in fairness. No idea why people do this though. It’s impossible to use a riders scores from selected meetings to try and prove what he would have scored in meetings he was missing. Wright has also had some Foxhall shockers.1 point

Doyle & Sayfutdinov are two years older & more battered, Bewley & Kurtz are two years more experienced.1 point

It's good to know that Martin Vaculik can still learn a thing or two from Paul Hurry 😉1 point

There won’t be any question marks. Emil will ride for both clubs and Toruń have no issue with Emil riding for Ipswich.1 point

Not so sure. We were definitely the best team this year and comfortably so, but Ouch makes a valid point. We can’t ride the NSS for toffee so it would have been a close run thing I think. If we want to win it next year, we simply have to find more answers there.1 point

Why get the begging bowl out at the time of year that you are trying to sign riders for a competitive season. Riders want certainty that the clubs is going to run and they will get paid. Who ever thought it was a good idea to go public with their financial position must now be regretting it as obviously its costing them riders. Once again Birmingham will be left with the riders no one else wants. I am sure Chris Adams is working hard to secure riders but its almost like the club are working against him in this matter.1 point

He has been a heat leader the past few seasons in the CL so already proven that point.1 point

After last week they're stuck in the u-bend with a few councillors who bought in to their guff are trying recover them on a pretty weak argument, compared to the planning committee chair's summing up. Good to see some support today from previous events' organisers https://www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/news/politics/council/truskfest-would-be-the-first-in-the-queue-to-return-to-peterboroughs-showground-if-development-plans-fail-to-materialise-4836976 That backs up Councillor Harper's view on viability and ineptness of the EEAS in their use and running of the East of England Showground, The call in is a problem but with one more flush AEPG will be gone!1 point

Result from that memorable night at the White City in '77: Volkswagen Grande Prix Final 1st. Ole Olsen (Denmark & Coventry) 13 (after r/o); 2nd. John Louis (England & Ipswich) 13; 3rd. Malcolm Simmons 11 (after r/o) (England & Poole); 4th. John Davis (England & Reading) 11; 5th. Dave Jessup (England & Reading) 10; 6th. Gordon Kennett (England & White City) 10; 7th. Michael Lee (England & King’s Lynn) 8; 8th. Steve Bastable (England and Cradley Heath) 7; 9th. Ivan Mauger (New Zealand & Exeter) 7; 10th. Ila Teromaa (Leicester & Finland) 7; 11th. Finn Thomsen (Denmark & Wolverhampton) 6; 12th. Ray Wilson (England & Birmingham) 5; 13th.= Larry Ross (New Zealand & Wimbledon) 4; 13th.= Eric Broadbelt (England & Poole) 4; 15th = Tony Davey (England & Ipswich) 2; 15th. = Doug Wyer (England & Sheffield) 2; 17th. Chris Morton (England & Belle Vue) 0 Olsen overtook Tiger on the final bend of the run-off final and that won him the overall title from Louis too. I was bitterly disappointed as a big Tiger fan and NOT of the Great Dane! My real favourite though PC was unable to defend his GP title due to the injury he'd picked up just days before the WF..1 point
