Imagine finding 2 people on 1 thread so clueless about someone who stood on a world final rostrum 4 times.5 points

Tell me you know absolutely nothing about speedway without saying you know absolutely nothing about speedway5 points

There’s more riders retiring or leaving the championship than young riders coming through so it will eventually dry up3 points

Think the trouble is the weakening of the Leagues mediocre riders are finishing with higher averages ,then they keep wanting to lower points limit.Standard of League diminishing rapidly now .Admissiom prices are going up though. There is only one outcome.3 points

Just read the Star, the new manager Adams admitting they’ve lost out on a couple of riders they were confident of having in the side due to the uncertainty. You’d have to think one is definitely Brennan. Having thought about it, you’d like to think they could have been protected a little here. They were uncompetitive this year and now they’re already on the back foot for next year as well and lost a couple of riders. Having a team marooned at the bottom doesn’t help anybody. On the flip side though, you can’t really blame the riders for looking after their own interests and getting a guaranteed income sorted whilst there was uncertainty at the club. Difficult one.2 points

The connection with Vaculik with Leicester was via Simon Stead. So if Vaculik ever did return to UK speedway it would be more than probable as a Tiger rather than a Lion.2 points

Did barely a lap on his Leicester debut at Swindon, broke his ankle If I Recall Correctly , and never rode for the Lions again.2 points

Won 1 world title completely on default. Might have been good on the trick track that was Monbore, but couldn't complete a lap anywhere else with falling off2 points

They are announcing the whole team at once this year. That's one of the reasons nothing has been said yet.1 point

Both Lidsey and Cook have plenty of potential. They are both on similar averages and ability. Cook is on a higher average, so with no British reduction for both Lidsey would give you more points for the rest of the team, so you think the one to release would be Cook. So I think that Mark Lemon will release Cook, if it is between choosing on from these two.1 point

Strongly disagree with that, Cook has improved every season in GB, plus made a great start to his Polish career. Now if you'd rather pick Lidsey because he's younger / has a lower average / you believe he's got more improvement in him, then I can't argue with your reasoning in preferring Lidsey. But I certainly feel Cook, hasn't reached his full potential.1 point

He also won the Surprise of the Season award in the end of season Ekstraliga awards. Finished 17th in the averages on 1.976 points per race (7.90 in our terms).1 point

Many riders don't peak until 30+ these days. Cook added a whole point to his PL average in 2024 ... and a whole point to his CL average in 2024 .. and in Poland averaged more than Lindgren, Doyle, Lidsey, Michelsen and Woffinden (and was a mere 0.01 below Jack Holder) => plenty of scope for further improvement in his British scoring.1 point

With respect thats not the finest idea. Its been tried before when the pool of emerging riders was of a far higher standard than now. A coupe of teams will snap up the cream and the others will be left with NDL 2nd strings (t best) then following year once some of those have upped averages it will get even worse.1 point

I really hope Plymouth can field a competitive team, I remember the days when we (Glasgow) struggled to get a decent team, thankfully due to our current promotion, riders now want to come to Glasgow, however I realise the rider pool is getting smaller year on year,no idea what the answer is. I would like the championship to have 2 x 2 pointers at reserve and give them at least 2 protected rides.1 point
-
Really? I'd expect the younger rider to have more improvement in him over the next couple of years.1 point

Why get the begging bowl out at the time of year that you are trying to sign riders for a competitive season. Riders want certainty that the clubs is going to run and they will get paid. Who ever thought it was a good idea to go public with their financial position must now be regretting it as obviously its costing them riders. Once again Birmingham will be left with the riders no one else wants. I am sure Chris Adams is working hard to secure riders but its almost like the club are working against him in this matter.1 point

I wasn't doing the comparing, I said it's ridiculous too, how many more times 🙄 Getting rides on the continent does make any rider 'way ahead', especially Poland. Comparing the 2 in the same league is also impossible. Thompson was at 2 because the No6 was crap. Rowe was at No6 because King's Lynn was built with strength in depth. Thompson's home track is a trick track which is tough for even away heatleaders. Rowe's home track is super grippy (even with no shale) which is tough for mid to lower order rider's. The parameters for both to be compared are all over the place. But like I said also, in 2 years time Thompson could be 'way ahead'. I have no problem with who rides for who, I just hope we have some more Dan Bewley’s & Robert Lambert’s coming through.1 point

After visits to Norwich, Ipswich Witches, King’s Lynn Stars, and Diss Transport Festival, we’re excited to take the ‘Racing in the East’ touring exhibition to The Speedway Show this weekend. The exhibition explores the sport’s history in Cold War East Anglia, from the riders and teams who regularly crossed the Iron Curtain, to the communist-built bikes that graced the region’s tracks, and the Eastern Bloc sponsors which adorned club race jackets. We look forward to meeting visitors on Saturday. More on the exhibition and links to the free articles that underpin ‘Racing in the East’ can be found here.1 point

Well I was at the 1993 worldfinal in Pocking & Sam's win very fortunate to say the least. He did have a habit of falling off ,& I think many fans would agree Monmore was a trick track. So a pretty accurate assessment in my opinion.1 point

Very surprised to see Tungate gain an average as high as he has. He’s done better than most thought. Is it a tad expensive now though? He’s not #1 material for me.1 point

Moneybags Belle Vue cherrypicking another rider? Perhaps they ought to swap the Ace and use a Cherry as their emblem this year.1 point

What else would you make of your post? "That's ok if he wants to be the next Connor Coles or Jack Smith"1 point

I know nothing is likely to change but hope we get the Tigers vs Comets more than 1H, 1A next season. Both sides take a good away following and certainly generates interest this end. It's a travesty when you think Poole/Oxford raced each other 8 times this year. Something has to change, and if the reason for lack of meetings is mainly down to Oxford running 3 sides, then it's an absolute shambles. I fear that it's just going to be the same old BSN groups and then the same league format.1 point

Polish clubs are often refused licences. What that says to me is the clubs may not always be professionally run, but the governing body is a lot more robust.1 point

The AGM is not just about agreeing points limits. Clubs have to submit their season's accounts and declare their commitment to complete a full season in 2025. It takes more than a couple of days after the last meetings to complete a full set of accounts, including debts, credits, bills to be paid etc1 point
-
Not quite. Some riders can/will be signed in any eventuality of rules and points limit. Nobody though, will be signing the majority of their riders until the rules and points limit has been confirmed at the AGM. as I’ve said before, some things have been loosely agreed prior to the AGM in the past, only for them to change at the AGM itself. I still to this day, don’t understand why they leave the AGM so late. It should be done as soon as the last competitive fixture has been ridden IMO and I haven’t heard one decent argument why that isn’t the case.1 point
