Imagine finding 2 people on 1 thread so clueless about someone who stood on a world final rostrum 4 times.3 points

And Rowe was at reserve all season bar two meetings. So good you have let him go to Sheffield2 points

Not only did Dan get into the team he actually increased his average in the team. He also retained his place for 3 months before Rew overtook him. both Dan and Anders are great prospects and both will have great careers but imo Dan shades Anders atm.2 points

Would a absolutely love one of the GP riders to ride at 5 . I still see Stewart going for UK based riders though. We will see2 points

Interesting post this. Donāt think youāre far out with the riders, but even as a rough guide that Lynn tail end is bonkers.2 points
-
Of course it is. Itās where they can both be compared fairly because both ride in the same league. Rowe quite clearly isnāt āa million miles ahead of Thompsonā in any way shape or form.2 points

Well I was at the 1993 worldfinal in Pocking & Sam's win very fortunate to say the least. He did have a habit of falling off ,& I think many fans would agree Monmore was a trick track. So a pretty accurate assessment in my opinion.1 point

That first sentence is the most ridiculous thing I've read on here in ages. By all means you can suggest Rowe is stronger / more promising but a "million miles ahead" come on, be serious. As for why they are even being compared? Well they've both progressed out of the RS berth at the same time, so why wouldn't you compare them?1 point

Tell me you know absolutely nothing about speedway without saying you know absolutely nothing about speedway1 point

Bomber not returning to the Spires in 2025 "Speedway is a funny old sport at times, I urge fans of any rider or any club to not look through rose tinted glasses especially this time of year, there is always more to a story, I can confirm my story is going to be a good one one day, but only when I hang up my boots - which wonāt be any time soon." Not sure what he means by that... it's all a bit Eric Cantona š„š¦1 point

I did wonder that, as on latest Piratecast show they did say, not too long for next signing. I guess it would be Zach?1 point

He didnāt at all. He didnāt receive any offer from Ipswich and isnāt likely to for the foreseeable future. Very difficult to turn down an offer that isnāt there.1 point

A fine No.6. No doubt he won't be there for long. But it don't matter, we're so solid all the way through.1 point

Think there's still some serious bitterness from Ipswich fans that Rowe turned them down in 2023 & went to King's Lynn Oh well š¤Ŗš1 point

No but wording it like "its no secret we were late to the party and behind on team building so some options to us were already closed, we have built what we feel is the best team available to us and have faith in the riders but it is a learning season for us all" Instead it was a season of bluster and bullflop that nobody believed and even fewer sympathised with. Speedway fans are (mostly) a knowledgeable bunch so treat them like mushrooms at your peril.1 point

Would having a World beating Team double the Attendance though.Thats the issue at Brum.1 point

Stewart normally always goes down that route so we shall see, The rumours though are giving Lions fans some hope of getting Fricke some rock solid support at No.5. I agree. Vaculik did ride over here at one stage as well, Got injured at Swindon if I remember quickly and then he never returned.1 point
-
Can anyone divert Ryan Reynolds/Rob McElhenney to the NSS when they are over filming? That sort of interest would catapult the sport back to where it belongs. They're interested in investing into cricket and motorsport if rumours are to be believed, shame there's no history of the sport in Wrexham1 point

Between Fricke, Masters, Becker, Lawson & Douglas only 1 match was missed by Douglas last season, which goes a long way towards Lions high league table finishing position I would have thought, it got them to the final but not over the line.1 point

Seems we're putting 2&2 together and coming up with a pretty handy no 5! He feels like the only stand out name that isn't already over here and has issues with his current club. Wasn't Steady helping him out a few years back?1 point
-
I've got no idea but if I was to throw out a name then I wouldn't be surprised if it was a Gorzow rider like Vaculik or Thomsen considering the mess the Polish club are currently in. I don't think Vaculik rides in Denmark or Sweden either.1 point

I agree, Foxhall will help his development more than the NSS imo, Anyone can ride a big fast track.1 point

You havenāt ācorrectedā anything because you havenāt presented facts (not that Iām requesting you to do so). Whilst this āI know something you donātā approach might not sit well with me, I do however appreciate your apparent efforts and enthusiasm to make our club sustainable. Believe it or not, Iām on your side!1 point

If one big league is what people want & they also want to see the top tier riders then the race nights will be Monday & Thursday only as it will be the new Premier league. I'm almost 100% sure that it will not happen, to many clubs cannot afford the big card riders & will suffer as crowds will shrink. it's one thing to watch the SGP stars but when your team struggles at home many will stay away. Other clubs cannot ensure crowd figures on these nights, I offer Poole as a prime example. But whatever league structure is in place in 2025 I feel Oxford have more than proved they can opperate in all available leagues & finish in good time. lets be fair had it not been for multiple rain offs/poor forecasts in the running of the finals it would have been all done by the end of September1 point
-
Not all about money though. Is in most cases granted, but some riders will take a lower offer if they feel a move elsewhere benefits their careers. Not saying that is the case here mind you.1 point

Good post Ian,I suppose the answer would have been for the speedway promotion to have taken the long lease on the stadium when the council made it available, my understanding is that the lease was 'free' on condition that certain works were carried out(main one being the new grandstand).Unfortunately the poole promotion like most other speedway promotions lacked foresight(hats off to the facennas)and opted for the 'easy'option of renting with no thought for the future .when I read people saying poole speedway and its main sponsors will now take on the stadium! I think why didn't they do it when they had the chance??Not a criticism decisions have to be made at the time.1 point
-
Poole have known about the "question marks" around their stadium for years and like many other tracks before them appear to have done diddly squat in seeking a long term sustainable replacement. When the inevitable happens the usual levers will be pulled, petitions, action groups, council backing, planning meetings, appeals etc. And all the Pirate fans will have to wait for years before these things are sorted out... if they ever are. Clubs (all clubs that rent their stadiums) should be pro-active in preempting their inevitable eviction and be seeking alternative sustainable sites to run Speedway.1 point
-
Now my post wasn't a fully researched resolved proposal, more a suggestion that there might be an alternative. But there is a more serious point, as it is something that Poole Pirates fans should be considering NOW before Wimborne Road becomes unavailable and another speedway club disappears into the ether.1 point

Maybe not a realistic team, but It'd be a bloody good one imo Tobiasz Musielak 8.21 Freddie Lindgren 8.13 Vadim Tarasenko 6.77 Tom Brennan 6.52 Zach Cook 5.57 Justin Sedgmen 4.79 Jason Edwards RS Total 39.991 point

I'm in my 40s, disabled & broke. If I was still going to meetings paying the concession price, I wouldn't sweat over Ā£2-Ā£4. Concessions is an old idea to cover the 'blue collar' workers whose bodies had packed up by 55. Pretty much all those hard slog jobs don't exist anymore and people in to their 70s are way fitter than a 70yo, 30 years ago. If concessions are a need, it should simply be for the disabled & blue badge holders. Just because you're "old" shouldn't give an automatic right to money off. That's absurd in 2024. Anyway, this ain't for this thread. Thanks @LagutaRacingFan for stirring that hornet nest š¤£1 point

Think it's fair to say that if you're a pensioner & poor, it's not likely they're attending Speedway anyway. If you are already attending Speedway, you can manage an extra Ā£2.1 point
