As we've seen from previous seasons. it's not just reserve replacement rides, it's covering rider replacement and injury replacement rides as well. It would be great to have two big hitters but there aren't that many about and I certainly don't see a strong reserve as a negative.4 points

After last week they're stuck in the u-bend with a few councillors who bought in to their guff are trying recover them on a pretty weak argument, compared to the planning committee chair's summing up. Good to see some support today from previous events' organisers https://www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/news/politics/council/truskfest-would-be-the-first-in-the-queue-to-return-to-peterboroughs-showground-if-development-plans-fail-to-materialise-4836976 That backs up Councillor Harper's view on viability and ineptness of the EEAS in their use and running of the East of England Showground, The call in is a problem but with one more flush AEPG will be gone!3 points

Don't understand the negativity in regards to the rumoured side and I'm someone who normally always criticises Buster Chapman 1-7's. If the rumoured team becomes a fact then I think it's the best 1-7 you've had in years. The vast majority of the 1-7 were either full time KL riders or riders who regularly made guest appearances for KL towards the end of this season. During that time KL wen't on a winning streak and they weren't wins against poor sides either, These wins were coming against some of the better sides in the league like Leicester and Sheffield. You didn't have any superstars in the 1-7 then but you still got positive results on a regular basis.3 points

If it is the rumoured 7 (Magic or Cook), then on paper its stronger than the team we finished the season with. The same team that had some pretty decent form in the latter part of the season, against what were probably stronger opposition than next year. The rumoured team looks ok to me, I think some people are blowing it way out of proportion.3 points

It's not recent though, he was identified as doing it at the end of last year. When he shuts off going into the first bend he was invariably last he was shutting off so much, not even 2nd or 3rd and then proceeded to be the whole length of a straight behind the riders in front. Now that's okay if he wants to be the next Jack Smith or Connor Coles but if he's the next messiah as some are predicting he ain't going to get anywhere with that approach to his Speedway. His end of season form has been as bizarre as anything I've seen from a rider that I can ever recall.3 points

I think he probably meant to say playoff and KO Cup 'finals'. Playoffs A vs Oxford - 4+1 H vs Oxford - 10+2 KO Cup A vs Oxford - 11+1 H vs Oxford - 8+3 That's 33+7 (40) in four meetings. Hardly laughable.3 points

It’s called opinions it varies from person to person. Because there opinion differs from you doesn’t make them any less a Glasgow fan.3 points

Brennan now needs to be dropping the Championship from his busy calendar. I personally thought he was spreading himself far too thin this year and he MAY have have progressed even further with a few more breathers here and there. If Ben Cook doesn’t feel Championship racing benefits his career anymore, then Tom Brennan certainly shouldn’t. He’s on an upward trajectory and has bigger fish to fry.3 points

I'm not going to comment on your views of Boughen and Coles. One thing I can say is that Jack Smith gave 100% for Glasgow and suggesting that if Boughen continues to perform the way he has done recently he would end up like Jack is out of order.2 points

Pity to see Ben moving on, but the upside is that Zac seems to up his game when his big bro isn't around. Making him Captain would be a shrewd move too, good for his confidence and good for the team.2 points

then look at what happens when one (or even both) gets injured, you're all of a sudden up rubbish creek, its a lot easier to replace a 6/7 pointer than a 9/10 pointer.2 points

🤣🤣 go have a look how bad the WHOLE league was then. That Peterborough team is not a yard stick to go by. It's fact, you can't win anything without Heatleaders, anyone over a 5½ average at No6 is a waste of points. King's Lynn before a wheel is turned will really really struggle to make top 4.2 points

Harris can't replace Boughen in heat 8, but he could in heats 4, 12, 14 where he meets another reserve. That's the point I was making. Even if he can't beat opposition heat leaders, having a reserve who may score 8 from 5 is better than a 4 point rider scoring 4. I'm not saying I definitely would've gone down the route of Harris at reserve over a top number one, but if they can't get anyone to sign, then if I was a Lynn fan, I'd still feel positive about having Harris at 6.2 points
-
This is a bit different, Harris has been a 6+ rider for a few years, he's not on a massive downward spiral. Plus he rode at number 5 for Oxford for a lot of meetings, so moving to reserve should see an increased average without him improving. I agree with your point about 7 rides, he'd only get that if multiple top 5 riders are underperforming, which they don't want. But he should have the beating of opposition reserves in heats 2,4,12,14 which is where you gain the advantage.2 points

Totally agree with your comments about Pearson, I think Pearson was the only one that increased his average by 1.5 points, and yet those on here were criticizing him. As for next year probably some real Glasgow supporters who saw what I did may well be disappointed. And yes his away form was poor but just think, his last matches away were a lot better because of engine changes - will be very easy to improve from 3.00 - even putting 1 or 2 points on that average. Easy for all other clubs to see that.2 points

I said this before, he was doing this in his first season, hope he changes this but I can't see it..2 points

Nothing to do with that. It’s the president who everyone hates, the internal audit found losses of 10 million zloty due to poor and underhand going ons, people in Gorzów hated the trainer too and his daughter who got a high paid position for doing nothing. President cancelled Woźniak contract one year early. They have basically got new people in to clean up but need 4.5m by 31st October or won’t get a Ekstraliga License and will be demoted to national league and with that basically go into liquidation. Sorry site for the most decorated polish club in its history of speedway! Fundraising is currently sitting at about 135,000zł in 4 hours.1 point

Might be interesting to ask about the track made on the farm owned by Peter Collin’s dad. The Morton’s and Collin’s spent many hours racing there even before they got on to a Speedway track1 point

The new reserve would likely be Klindt or Kvech… I’m sure they’d do the same!1 point

i guess the theory is that one of those would be accompanied by a 8/9 pointer at 1 but its quite clear that the club hasnt been able to sign that kind of rider and will be going with a top six with less than a point between them instead personally i think the clubs priority has to be to sign a team who will win the majority of home turn up every week and have an affinity with the paying customer and the mooted team would do that i believe1 point

Kerr feels like an odd shout for a Poole side. He's made of glass Dan Thompson or even Sedgy would be a better option for that average. Rowe and a 2 point place holder until Cairns is 16 and that would be some side. Must admit I was one of the many that wrote Thomsen off before he turned a wheel but he had a great season, fair play. Deserves to be back next year.1 point

It's just a hobby horse which the usual suspects like to ride, as with the team manager.1 point
-
That's the problem. If he does continue to do it, then it's going to backfire on Oxford and King's Lynn in 2025. However, he's got that potential to significantly raise his average if he finds his form again. I think I'd rather have in my team in case it's the latter. A lot easier to release him if he struggles (let's hope it doesn't come to that) than try and sign him if he's in red-hot form.1 point

Speedway is full of BS, half the riders haven’t a clue why they use something they just see a top rider use it and think they have to as well, the riders at the top understand that speedway is very rider specific, what works for 1 rider won’t work for another and around 50% of riders throw money at something that doesn’t work, I remember when I worked for Adam skornicki him telling me at a meeting his bike packed up and Jason crump lent him a bike, he said it was the worst bike he had ever raced, it didn’t want to turn but obviously it worked for Jason1 point

The NJL has lost its way since the Swales controlled days. Too many individuals looking for team glory rather than the interest of the juniors, rules changed to suit one club and recently incompetent leadership from the ‘co-ordinator’ leading to the loss of stalwart managers at clubs. Now there is a shortage of kids coming through to fill the existing teams with more and more amateur meetings being cancelled for just that reason. Lets hope the NJL can be revived back to pre SCB interference days.1 point

Taking recent rumours into account. 1. Fricke 2. Howarth 3. Becker 4. 6.24 (Ellis???) 5. Musielak 6. Sedgmen 7. Hagon (RS)1 point
-
I mentioned Musielak on the Leicester thread a week or so ago and I can see it happening 100% if the Lawson rumour is true and it'll leave just over 6 for a No.4 if you go with Sedgmen at No.6.1 point
