  1. Yes, he's not the answer. His current average is fair and not much chance of pushing it up. It would be better to sign a younger rider with more prospect of improving.

  2. Some Glasgow fans seem think Jack Smith on a low average is the answer. He’s been around 10 years ,it baffles me .

  3. Only the Promotion know the financial situation for moving up a league, and if it is viable or risk against reward. The racing at Glasgow is superb most weeks and personally don’t think it would increase the crowd in any great numbers for a lot more expense.

  4. i have no idea who we are signing or have signed but for the record would love to see James Pearson back. James is still only 19. He's had 2 seasons in the UK prior to this which must have been a huge learning curve - from aussie tracks to Birmingham and Plymouth! He started with a GSA of 4.08 and increased it to 5.51 which is pretty good. How many riders add c1.5 points to their average racing at a new track? I also wouldn't be opposed to Jack Smith returning either. He has beaten some good riders around Ashfield this year and been totally committed to the team.

  5. Given attendances at youth events and even U21 finals I can't see how NDL would every be a consideration tbh, guaranteed loss maker imo. Prem and champ might be interesting and no doubt draw few more fans of local clubs don't see the big names. But really the champ just has to get it's act together and stop being dictated to by Phil Morris. Sort out a proper fixture list. We might have to accept missing riders more regularly but I'd take that over 6 weeks no fixtures in the summer

  6. We all know it is not easy to persuade the FIM members, still we started this Facebook group 2 days ago and have already around 800 members. Dear Speedway-Supporters, please help to spread this message and join us. Thank you very much for your interest. https://www.facebook.com/groups/952441066646798

  7. For such a small production it is a class act.Hits all the right notes regarding Riders interaction and pits stuff.Have to say guest riders Rory and Sedgy are superb at summarising the action track without shouting their head off.

  9. U21/youth events don't have great attendance, but I think that would only partially apply to NDL. People prefer to support a team, generally. NDL provides that, albeit the level would put some off.

  10. I don't care what level of racing we have at Glasgow next year, but 11 home meetings a season is a joke. With the millions that have been invested in the club and facilities it would be nice to showcase it more than once every third Friday. It's always easier to spend other people's money so the Facennas will make the call. On the attendance nonsense. Glasgow raced midweek this year and between that and Friday nights I didn't see a collosal difference. I am positive that if the club decided to double up and Oxford have shown that it can be done, Edinburgh fans would be there to support the away teams for sure to see the superstars in the league.

  11. This a great idea. The gaps in the Championship fixtures just do not do anything to retain or increase the fan base. If we raced both leagues, with some clever team selection, we could double up 4 common riders in both leagues. I believe collectively we would attract fans from Berwick, Edinburgh and Workington to our home meetings to see premiership riders like Sayfutinov, Lindgren, Bewley, Doyle etc. these fans as well as away fans from the premier league opposition in play. I believe these meetings would attract many more vs. the away fan attendance from Berwick, or Edinburgh for their individual visits.. Get a big Polish name in the Premier League team like Janowski or Kubera and a large market opens up in Glasgow for Polish fans......something that would of course need some focussed marketing to maximise the results. Time to give this a go is my thoughts......both leagues or at least the premier league.

  12. Doesn't need British Speedway, the sport in the country should be able to support itself not rely on riders. He'll be back in British Speedway at some stage when he needs it, usually when he may be on the decline in GPs or in Poland

  13. Only certain away meeting in Poland get a decent following, I’ve been to majority Stal home meetings and only ‘decent’ away support for Falubaz. Most other times you are looking at around 100/200 people. Toruń never sells out their home section either in league matches. 15k stadium is hard to fill granted but Stal gets better home support.

  14. Where were all of these so called fans when the Eurosport cameras were in town showing the King's Lynn match? The part time glory hunters all come out of the woodwork at this time is the year

  15. R.I.P saw him a number of times in his Crayford days a very decent rider and Team man.

  16. Good to see Steve Ribbons putting Mr Barrie in his place regarding his maligning of the Event. The majority of the crowd turning up knew what they were going to see. There was no need to “knock” the event through his SS Column.

  17. The rent a mob football fans that always turn up for the play offs beware Lions fans.

  18. No point just turning up for the play offs, you should support your club all season long.

  19. Just like many of the Aces fans who, all of a sudden, have put an appearance in after having gone missing all season long

  20. They will have who they want. No-one will be exempted. This is Speedway. This is Poole Poole are run by one of the 4 Management Committee Members; Oxford are NOT. The Cabal will meet, the Blue and White smoke will be spotted above the roofs of Rugby. Vatcher will be called in to adjudicate on behalf of the Cabal - erm sorry CCB - Cabal Control Board. He will pronounce forthwith- "The Rules are the Rules until the Rules are unfair Rules for those that make the Rules therefore on this occasion the rule makers have trashed the Rules and made new temporary Rules for the good of the Cabal (stet - Sport)...."

  21. Couldn’t agree more - I wish Greg would do it permanently. I’m probably in the minority here but I can’t stand the women presenters not just Abi, Hayley Bromley too, not to mention the 2 other younger monotone models recently added to the BSN pits interviewing team - makes me cringe. Btw I’m a female!

  22. People complain about price. But the middle block premium seats which are most expensive is always the block that sells out first.

  25. Yet again Eurosport proves that it is not about the budget at your disposal, but it is how you use it! The brilliant BSN blows it clean out of the water on just a fraction of the budget!! IF ..... Discovery had any intelligence they would say to BSN: "Can you provide us with the speedway coverage next season please?" - the end result would be a saving to their budget and a far better production!

  26. Disappointed to see price rises for the final. There is a cost of living crisis and many pensioners have lost their Winter Fuel Payments.

  27. Let's be fair here, it's not at all Abi's fault. She's just doing her job. The nonsense chat is usually requested from directors through an earpiece. Man or women, it's irrelevant. Even Tatum & Louis (whomever is partnered with Kelv) chat absolute s#!+e most weeks. The discovery team as a whole has no idea what the watching viewers want to hear or see. Camera work, commentators, trackside presenters, the lot is absolutely dreadful. Terrible to just out the Lass, just doing as she's told.

  30. Thought I had seen it all in terms of poor professionalism from TV "presenters"....but last night was probably the lowest of the lowest. It is evidently clear that the person doing interviews in the pits is so far out of their depth it is brutal to watch...when a team manger tells you to not interview a rider yet you ignore his advice, you are left with an absolute cringeworthy situation live on air. The same "presenter" has no real rapport with the riders and thus makes poor viewing, the incident with the obvious bad injury to Ben Cook is a example, instead of waffling and digging a bigger hole why not try and use some common sense and leave it to the likes of Scott/Kelvin/Ollie who have been in that position and know what to say and what not to say. Last Monday night when Pickering was revving the guts out of his bike, why would you try and have an interview with him? Thought it was poor last night and in general over the season it has become more and more of the same, how many times have we seen pit interviews that have been interesting and entertaining?...it needs someone from the TV side to have that rapport with the riders, a person the riders respect, something Scott Nicholls does and has with the vast majority of them.

  32. Disagree, Emil travels from Toruń (same home polish team as Lambert) and comes to Ipswich. He chose England over Sweden and he has wife and kid. So it’s a bigger commitment for him. Also, lambert spoke after the championship in Bell Vue that he made the mistake of bringing over polish engines and he won’t make same mistake for SoN (which he rode amazing in). Sorry to burst your fan boy bubble… my old fruit.

  33. yes good point hadn't thought of that actually! I have all the right cables etc - current Smart TV less than a year old so it will be a while but i can screen mirror etc! I wasn't thinking 'laterally' as the saying goes!

  34. True, however another year with fixtures so far apart will kill us off quicker, if not a premiership then lets have a proper ndl team along with championship, I do realise that junior racing is generally not well supported at present but if it meant racing most weeks instead of 5 week gaps it may work

  37. I get the feeling he thinks he is a superstar and Britain is below him. Participating in the British individual championship and bringing his polish engines over, thinking he would just walk it. Reality check when he didn’t get through to the final.

  39. Poole cheat, blah blah blah This is getting boring. They are only missing one rider, several plausible replacements have been identified, they will simply book one (or two) and getting on with it.

  42. 100% this! He's a rider with a high ceiling and he could end up in GP Series. Concussion, especially deep concussion is a potentially silent killer. IF he has had some sort of initial seizure he will need some constant monitoring for a period of months and plenty of rest and relaxation. Even if he hasn't had a seizure, the nature of the crash (as descibed) suggests he'd be VERY wise to sit out the remainder of the season. He may be restricted initially in terms of long distance Air travel but ideally he can get home, get some sun on his back and come back fit and fresh next season. You simply cannot take risks with head injuries and concussion, fractures / muscle injuries you may be able to "patch up" - the brain you most definitely cannot!

  43. I’m talking about real time action,at the time of the crash it was a close race at the back but the cameras are focused on the front 2 that are spread out, they do this all the time, they are so amateurish, BSN are far better on a fraction of the cost, BSN capture the essence of speedway, Eurosport are like cable network channel from the 90s

  45. Swear every time I watch Eurosport they miss the race within the race, always focus on the wrong battle and miss the big moves. You could see cook was gaining but we pan to the first two who weren’t even that close!

  48. SEC coverage is available in English via Fanseat. Dave Rowe's research into the event (and any other meetings that he voices) puts some other UK commentators to shame. His updates on the meeting stats are spot on too. I wonder what software he uses! 😁
