You don't need to be experienced to look at a monitor, (several times), see Max Fricke lift and wipe out an opponent, and then exclude him... Nor need to be experienced to see the same thing happen in two races, and make the same decision on the second occasion that you made previously... It is glaring you in the face in slow motion several times... I am truly amazed that anyone could make so many, not even close decisions, so poorly... Especially given you get the chance to watch them back as many times as you need to...8 points

Some of the comments on social media stating that Leicester paid the referee are honestly crazy. Calling us cheats etc. Listen the ref was absolutely sh#t but to label us as cheats is too far. The ref should be investigated but not for bribary but for being crap at her job. I do feel for ipswich fans but don't take it out on us as a club. We could not do anything about the ref, I agree Leicester got lucky but at the end of the day Ipswich had riders that couldn't stay on bike. Also how important does that heat 15 at Ipswich look now? Literally tried to put loads of dirt on certain gates and got caught out. Ipswich bottled it at home and had an even playing field with the weather yesterday altering the track. So home advantage pretty much went. Anyways on a positive note we're in the final and whatever happens we've had a great season. Ipswich fans can feel unlucky losing Doyle and Emil, if they were fit they would have won the whole lot.6 points

Fricke lost control because he received a big lateral shove from the rider in gate one as they were about to enter bend one. This probably occurred because all four riders by this stage were aiming for more or less the same piece of track. Therefore what happened subsequently could not have been prevented by him and the decision to re-start the heat with all riders was correct.5 points

Why should any lower level be subjected to that amount of incompetence? She should be struck off altogether.5 points

Sorry but I have to disagree. Danny was protected at number 2 tonight & failed to beat an opponent. In heat 8 he just had to ride the line instead he went off line in to the rubbishe & fell. A 5-1 there and the pressure is off. Time & time again when you need a big ride from King it doesn’t happen. Jason & Emil have in the main masked this however plenty of Ipswich fans have been vocal about him going missing at vital times for at least the last 2 years a point proven again tonight.5 points

err, not true that its the ONLY thing everybody is talking about. Some of the other views effecting the outcome being raised are: The track, Danny King Witches management Leicester riders staying on their bikes Ipswich riders falling off their bikes The home leg result being the reason for the aggregate loss. It is true statement that the referee and her decisions are commented on by many, of which quite a few are factually wrong or appear to be made based on emotion and bias if not a lack of knowledge of the rules of speedway. But, hey , that's the beauty of this forum, everybody is entitled to voice their opinion That is so long as is not made personal and or deeply offensive.4 points

Just going to put this out there for some context regarding Danny King Firstly he is 38 he isn’t going to get better so those of you expecting that are clueless We went very strong top two and signed the best 2 reserves in the league…. This meant the middle order would be weaker … we signed Rew back and then 2 guys who would provide middle order stability in Ellis and King…. Danny had the slightly higher average so rode at number 3…. A position he held until we lost Doyle which meant he got moved to 5 and he isn’t a number 5 Nobody started moaning about him until after we lost Emil … some fans thinking he should get double figures every week…. He was never signed to do that He has rode the season with a terrible hand injury and now a foot injury He has had some good meetings and some awful ones but he is not the rider he was He may well leave and i think he should but the abuse he has been getting is uncalled for4 points

The way it was going, if Brennan had gone down, he might have been awarded the win..😁3 points

Thought i'd get home, sleep it off and then have a good catch up on here this morning. Read it all about peiople's thoughts on last night, and after following Ipswich everywhere apart from Belle Vue this season, i think ive seen enough Speedway for a small contribution. Not going to mention new riders on this page for next season, i will go on that page in a bit. But on last night, yes track was a leveller, and SOME of our boys fought till the bitter end. I would just like to congratulate Leicester and all of their supporters on a big result and wish them all the very best in the final, and i hope to attend their Home leg in the Final. I believe where we lost it was in 2 places and i don't include the inept refereeing by Christine Turnbull, who should just be struck off, as she single handidly did everything she could last night to ruin a great meeting. For me i really believed we lost it at Home, especially in the latter heats, when we needed our big guns to step up and they just failed, especially heat 15, that 5-1 for me to the Lions was crucial in the whole tie. And last night, it has to be Heat 8 for me, safely on a 5-1, to take a 10 point lead, with the momentum that brings, i feel we may of got over the line...JUST. But with all the experience Mr King has got, what he was doing to fall off just baffles me completely, never been able to Team Ride anyway, but thats where last night went for us. But however these people, who don't travel and watch from afar, which is fine with me, continue to support Danny King, as Captain as well is mind numbing. Nothing else i can say on that matter. So another season over, enjoyed every minute of it, until Emil's injury at Sheffield, as since then it's been nothing short of a Mangerial disaster. The non-replacement of Doyley for me personally, whilst top of the league and everybody was riding with so much confidence, could be the worst Management decision of seen at Foxhall for many many a year, no good moaning, ive spent so much money on watching the Witches this season, and yes i feel Management has let me and so so many travelling supporters down, but it's now done. Time for a break, i hope all the teams return, may even have the Prem upto 8 Teams, but that's me dreaming i suppose, as the rider shortage this season has proven a huge problem for all teams. Good luck to Leicester in the final, i do hope they win it, and as ive said i hope to be at their Home Leg to cheer them on. I hope to see so many friendly Witches faces on my travels again next season, i am hearing of at least 2 changes maybe 3, but thats for another page. Enjoy your breaks Ladies and Gents #speedwayisthewinner3 points

The 2 year experiment by the Witches (that nearly paid off this year) of a very strong top two and reserve duo is at an end. For next year with Doyly all but signed and doubts about Emil's availability being voiced by the promotion (read that as "known" for next year) the promotion will be opting for a stronger middle order to put less reliance on the top two whilst reducing the effect (which came to fruition this season) of not having anything like suitable guests being available to step in should a heat leader (or two) be sidelined. The big loser of not having Emil riding in the UK next season will be UK speedway. His commitment, professionalism and charisma has been a breath of fresh air these past two seasons and frankly the powers that be should be seeking to ensure Emil does ride somewhere in the UK - come what may!3 points

What a difference from when we (again) had last pick for the newly set up RS system. Nobody wanted Tom but we saw it different. From an RS to a +6 main team member with The Aces, great to see and glad he is now reaping the financial rewards. Top lad.3 points

Been saying they should get Brennan at Foxhall for 2 years now - in this 2nd leg he almost scored what Emil or Jason would have - lads only going one way for now! Up!3 points

How crucial was that moment when king lost us the 5-1 with Thompson, he wasn’t even under pressure. Rode way to wide even coming into the corner on what was clearly a difficult track. Experience should prevail in those moments. There has been a few times when young Thompson has had a wiser head and helped our guys come round wide of him on the first corner. He really has done an amazing job since last year.3 points

Pleased for Leicester. Only downside is now Gavan will be on every Poole thread!!😃🤣3 points

Last night was good apart from the refereeing, which was a disgrace.2 points

Have had a great day, thanks. Went out early and grabbed a couple of local neighbours' cats and dogs and ate them for lunch. Real tasty.2 points

Then you’d be wrong wouldn’t you Hamish. Absolutely nobody has been talking about heat 15. The incompetent referee undoubtedly “stole the show” with her quite ridiculous decisions as evident by the last half dozen pages on this thread.2 points

Allocations are done by Jim McGregor as far as I know, Jim Lawrence is the SCB Chairman only and as someone said watched the match live in person2 points

Reports have been going around Leicester recently that Paul Cairns wants to meet with Dan Thompson and to resolve the issues so that he can return to Leicester with sponsorship on offer . He will not be on the RS list so can possibly see him being no62 points

I’m sorry, but she absolutely DID steal the show. It’s the hot topic of debate there’s no doubt about it. Louis was pretty lenient in his response and very gracious when interviewed last night IMO. I’m not sure many others would have been quite so dignified!2 points

Personally i think you need a No.1, but it's not going to be easy finding a genuine No1. I'll take that team right now btw2 points

Looks to me like he’s just giving his honest opinion to start with but then being a bit careful in the second part. Don’t think he could be accused of any bias here as I think 99% of people are of the same opinion regarding the decisions last night aren’t they?2 points
-
Of course she bloody did! It may have escaped you, but it’s literally the ONLY thing everybody is talking about since the meeting last night however badly you don’t want it to be the case!!2 points

The referee didn't steel the show. The riders made it. Shame on a promoter using such wording and showing a complete lack of professionalism.2 points

Two conclusions from last night.....1) Turnbull should NEVER be allowed to referee a speedway match again and 2) Danny King needs to retire (utter embarrassment!) Fair play to Ipswich for not "cheating" in the final heat too and having one of their riders "accidentally" falling off to get a re-start!!2 points
-
When she allowed Fricke back in was the moment I actually thought if I was Chris or Richie I would have got the team into the pits and refused to ride. Although we would have been DQ probably from the race but something had to be shown how crap she was performing as a ref.2 points
-
The main issue for me, was she showed no consideration for the track conditions. Any competent ref would have, and as such given the riders the benefit of doubt. Then to compound things, she decided, Max Frick who lost control in heat thirteen was not the cause of the stoppage! After such a incompetent performance, she should be disqualified from holding a referees licence ever again. Jim Lawrence (SCB) should not go unpunished for any of this either, for it would have been him allocating her the match in the first place!2 points
-
Referee was an utter disgrace and should have license withdrawn. Definitely influenced the result with incredibly poor decisions. Sadly I echo previous comments that no side with Danny in will win anything. He consistently fails to turn up for important meetings. Neutral fan.2 points

Yes the ref was bad but king falling as you say when not under pressure cost the meeting2 points

Very good guests , Charles brings his A game to these occasions and is a real battler as is Dan Thomson. That is definitely the mind set we will need Saturday. If Jason can avoid any last places we could give the Pirates a real scare. I would take a 4-2 to the Comets in a last heat aggregate decider 😀. Come on you Comets seize the day 👌🤙👊2 points
-
Ipswich cost themselves points with various falls etc. but the standout element of the night was the truly dreadful refereeing! I think she needs to watch it back when she gets home and then realise it is time to hand in her licence because that refereeing performance was an absolute disgrace!! Come on Christina - if that's the best you can do in such a crucial meeting then do the right thing and pack it in! We should all be talking about the meeting not the refereeing!2 points

He's had an awful season though and that's the difference, Fair enough if it's one bad night every now and then but it's almost every week now and it's just costing the club silverware. Even EUROSPORT pundits keep saying he needs to step up and put in a captains performance due to how poor he's been and they're oblivious to most things related to British Speedway. Rew's been very good for Ipswich this season and he's stepped up big time for you after the injuries to Doyley and Emil much like Dan Thompson. King's GSA Away from Foxhall is atrocious for someone who's supposed to be a leader (4.92 Excluding Bonus Points and 5.54 Including Bonus Points)2 points

Kvech & Rew are both young & learning while riding in heat leader positions King is the experienced rider who was protected at number 2 and failed to beat an egg.2 points

You simply cannot be that incompetent... And, if you are... Then you shouldn't be allowed to officiate...2 points

Good luck to Tom Brennan who has now been drafted in to the meeting. Great experience for him1 point

Don’t bother buying it if you are dissolutioned with it.British speedway is just second rate these days a handful of matches in a week if you lucky. If it wasn’t for Continental and Polish + Grass Track it would be 5 page Magazine.Personally i find it a great read. But each to their Own.1 point

A hollow victory for sure with terrible biased refereeing but it's not all down to Turnbull. When was the last time you saw a British club having to protect their 3rd Heat Leader and Club Captain in a Play-Off meeting by putting him at No.2 for the evening only for him to not score a point against an opposition rider?1 point

I have just sent an email to the BSPA on the disgraceful refereeing decisions tonight. There have some absolutely diabolical decisions tonight.I've seen awful decisions before but not so many in one meeting.I hope she gets a ban which i said should happen at the least.Good luck Ipswich, from a loyal King's Lynn fan.1 point
