Sitting on your sofa with your hand in a bag of Doritos for the last 20 years is what has brought you to this conclusion. The man has just been brutalised against the fence/track and trapped under both bikes involved in the incident. His priority is himself and to leave the other rider for the medical professionals.11 points

It seems the Championship have no such commercial reasons to make a similar decision Poole go into their semi final in 4 days with opponents TBC5 points

Irrespective of who should or should not be excluded, it was utterly classless from Zmarzlik to not at least check on Michelsen.4 points

The guy is quite incredible, the best loved rider in British Speedway for obvious reasons. 👌4 points

Another big score from Bomber tonight, it looks like he will beat his 2023 figure of 9.47, pending Oxford's visit on Sunday. Even more impressive given the fact he isn't the best gater and riding in a team that is a pale shadow of the champions class of 2023. I don't know how he does it: the travelling, crashes, bruises and still pulls it out the bag weekly. I would assume he is a stick on for Glasgow 2025? I hope he wins the CLRC and rides in a competitive team next year.3 points

Emil I understand, but what’s the fascination with Laguta? He wouldn’t get anywhere near Zmarzlik.3 points

The rising star scheme hasn't really been a success and hasn't really been fit for purpose at all for a couple of seasons Only Brennan has progressed out of the scheme and is still in a side Others moving out have already been jettisoned The fact that the Championship dropped it even though that's the natural start point is more pertinent3 points

So, I've left this for a while to all play out. Here's what happened... I was most surprised to receive a reply to my email from Phil Morris himself, asking for my contact details so we could have a chat. I was then absolutely flabbergasted to receive a call from him this morning 2 and a half hours before GP practice was due to start!! We spent a good half an hour discussing the "play" off semi finals. I'm not going to divulge what was said in our private conversation only to say it was a very honest and very open account of what has gone on and the reasons behind it. While I still do not agree with it, I at least feel that my voice has been heard and I think that is all I can ask for and expect. One thing I will say that he mentioned was that he said somebody had sent him a screenshot of a post I'd made on here suggesting that the Fans' Voice Representatives didn't exist, so it appears we have a mole in our midst (or should that be a moley ), which is no bad thing really as I said to him that since these fans reps were announced I'd heard nothing more from them and perhaps they need to be more visible with contact details on club websites etc. Not to bother them with the tittle tattle issues like Tatum said this or Eurosport doesn't show that but the big stuff like rule consistency and fixture "manipulation". As for the others that I emailed, I did hear back from David Lowe the Lions fans rep but unsurprisingly didn't hear back from a single club, not even a courtesy email thanking me for getting in touch and my concerns would be forwarded to the Premiership CEO. I tell a lie, Belle Vue did but that reply came from BSPL towers, I suspect Belle Vue never even saw it. To be fair I did cc the other clubs into the email I sent to Leicester, so not receiving a reply from them is maybe understandable. Did anybody else hear back? Don't worry, I know you didn't even bother emailing3 points

I think the “terrible gater” tag with Harris gets overplayed. There’s little wrong with his gating whenever I’ve watched him, and often it’s very good!3 points

Ablitt has had a good season & upped his average as the "senior" reserve. Yes he was poor, but one poor match doesn't mean he should automatically be dropped.3 points

Reg Kavanagh did ride in Germany in 1930, but he was not very successful and he certainly wasn't a star attraction when he appeared in dirt-track events at Cologne, Essen and Dortmund in April and May of that year. I am not aware of Reg Kavanagh ever winning a championship or setting a track record anywhere here in Germany, but my records for that period of German speedway are incomplete. All I could find was one rather lucky win for him in the final of a handicap race at Cologne on May 4, 1930, in an event spoilt by bike problems and falls, when the race leader Joseph Herzogenrath fell on the last lap. And Kavanagh once rode in a track record attempt, unsuccesfully, at the first international meeting held at Dortmund on Sunday, May 25, 1930. His four laps time of 1:49.8 was 14! seconds slower than Walter Buttler's new record of 1:35.0 who shattered the existing record of 1:38.8 held by Herbert Drews of Danzig. For the first time Reg Kavanagh's name shows up in my German dirt-track records on April 19, 1930 (Easter Sunday) in the inaugural meeting at Essen, where he was one of seven foreign riders. The names of the others are Tom and Jack Middlehurst, S.L. Robinson, Harry Gresty (?), Pat O'Hara, and "the Australian" Shuttleworth. This meeting attracted a 5,000 crowd. German Fred Buttler set a four lap record of 1:29.0, Robinson of England was second fastest. There were several competitions, the Inauguration Trophy, Prize of Essen (both were won by Peter Schiffer of Cologne) and the Golden Glove, plus a couple of and match races (Harry Herzogenrath of Cologne beat Shuttleworth 2-0 while Fred Buttler of Hamborn and Middlehurst tied 1-all). Kavanagh was one of the four finalists in the "Golden Glove" event, which was won by Tom Middlehurst (England), ahead of Harry Herzogenrath (Cologne), with Peter Schiffer the other finalist. On the next day, Easter Monday, Kavanagh rode in Cologne, where Slider Shuttleworth was the big star and the darling of the Cologne crowd. Shuttleworth won the track record attempt over four laps in 1:25.0 and also won the scratch race final, ahead of Robinson (England). Shuttleworth was only beaten in the handicap final, he started from 70m behind the scratch mark. That race was won by the Hans Müller of Hamburg (20m handicap), with Shuttleworth second and Reg Kavanagh (20m handicap) third. Reg Kavanagh rode in a couple of unofficial "Internationals" here in Germany. On Friday, May 2, 1930, in the third meeting of the season at Cologne, he was in the England team that lost 6-25 against the German team, that consisted of Harry Herzogenrath, Joseph Herzogenrath, Schauer, Schiffer, Wenzel and Schaaf. England rode with Shuttleworth, Kavanagh, O'Hara, T.Middlehurt, J.Middlehurst and Robinson (individual riders' point scores unknown). Two day's later on Sunday, May 4, 1930, that same England team was again beaten by a German team in another meeting at the Essen track, this time they lost the contest by 19 points to 12. Interestingly in a meeting at Dortmund on May 25, 1930, Reg Kavanagh and Pat O'Hara teamed up and representeed Ireland in an unofficial international match against Germany. The two German riders chosen as their opposition were not among the leading German riders at the time, but only middle-order men. They were Johannes "Hannes" Wunder of Hamburg, who was the better of the two, and Anton "Toni" Jenau of Bochum. It was a contest over three heats (4,3,2,1 points) and for the record Germany won by 19 points to 11. These are the match details: Heat 1: Wunder, Jenau, O'Hara, Kavanagh. Heat 2: Wunder, O'Hara, Kavanagh (fell remounted), Jenau (fell). Heat 3: Wunder, Jenau, O'Hara, Kavanagh. GERMANY 19 Johannes Wunder 4, 4, 4 = 12 Anton Jenau 3, 1, 3 = 7 IRELAND 11 Reg Kavanagh 1, 2, 1 = 4 Pat O'Hara 2, 3, 2 = 7 The last time I find Reg Kavanagh's name in a race report here in Germany is for a meeting at Cologne on Thursday, May 29. He won one of the three heat races in the contest for the "Blue Ribbon of the Rhine" but came last in his semi-final race behind Werner Schauer (Lüneburg) and Max Plambeck (Hamburg). Schauer went on to win the final. That's all I have on Reg Kavanagh's dirt-track exploits of 1930 in Germany.2 points

Wants to drop a 21 year old whose career trajectory is continual improvement who has the nerve and cheek to overtake probably the most consistent CL rider of the past 4-5 years but allows said CL master craftsman up his inside as he won't try to clamp him down in to the next turn (no doubt probably be wiped out if he did). Very strange logic. PS reported on Speedway Updates that a close member of the lads family passed away yesyerday btw! (many riders would have cried off).2 points

At this stage it’s unlikely Brennan will be doing Championship Speedway. His calendar is extremely busy and he has ambitions to kick on further next year and make a big charge for the GP’s. I’d be very surprised if he rides in the second tier again but we’ll have to wait and see. Not sure you’ll see Ben Cook in the Championship again either.2 points

For your first point, a team away from home in the second leg, know how many they have to score to hold onto the lead! Second point agree - but how often do you get ties over 30 heats. Third point, agree the favourites will certainly want the second leg at home in the final, no advantage in semi finals. Today, Redcar & Scunthorpe just got knocked out when they had the second leg at home, did they have an advantage?2 points

Would be funny if it weren't true! There's a lot of stuff I can put up with as far as Speedway is concerned, guests and all that but when you start to get into fixture rigging at the end of a 5 month season, I personally draw a line there.2 points

Okay, if you're going to start to get abusive I'm not going to engage with your on this topic anymore, I hope you enjoy the pay offs, they're not for me this season.2 points

You know all that time you took off work, all that traveling, all those traffic jams, all those motorway closure detours on the way home, all the money you spent on travel, accommodation, food, stadium admission, programmes, following your team up and down the country since your team had secured a top 4 spot (July in Ippo's case?) because you knew that in the rules at the start of the season it said that 1st played 4th and 2nd played 3rd in the PAY OFFS. Guess what? All completely pointless! Why change it? The cut off was 31/8, you call the 1,2,3 & 4 on that date, not start making your own up.2 points

If it’s not the same riders how can it be a ‘series’ ?, another speedway fiasco.2 points

Yeah I don't get where all the talk of Zmarzlik struggling came from. It's like every round the question is, will Zmarzlik win or not, rather than "which of the 16 riders will win". He's a great rider, but it shouldn't be regarded as Zmarzlik vs everyone else.1 point

Wimbledon is part houses, part football ground. Hackney became the media centre for the Olympics, which I believe has now been converted to residential use. London White City is now BBC offices. Harringay is a supermarket, New Cross housing and a park and Walthamstow is housing. Wembley is still Wembley, just a very different Wembley.1 point
