  1. If Ipswich can’t win it then I don’t mind who out of Belle Vue or Leicester do Sorry no time for Sheffield as the way some of their fans behave … they did it at the play off final second leg and again when they won at Foxhall last month … just not a nice fan base … plus they have Jack Holder lol

  6. I don't suppose the Challenge will be on TV. It never seems to be. I would much rather watch this cut throat meeting than most of the GP's.

  7. At this point we should just wave the white flag and let a fully fit Oxford take our place in the play offs.

  9. The last league meeting of the season, if comets win then we are in the play offs (i think) but despite Plymouth looking like a weak side, some of their away performances have been good, could be a close encounter, so all you comets fans get down to the GT tyres northside arena to cheer the comets to the play offs UTC

  10. King is not even beating riders on his home track that he should. He can't possibly replace either Doyle or Sayfutdinov - nobody has suggested that - but he hasn't even maintained his contribution when it was needed most.

  11. I'm of the opinion that as long as you don't touch the tapes and you get a flyer then what's the problem. All they are doing is penalising good gaters.

  12. Anyhow as I’ve said before, I think it’s time to bin it off as it’s not a level playing field. There will be two or three that are clearly far superior to the rest on the list, so some clubs through no fault of their own will be disadvantaged from the get go. At least by letting clubs build their 1-7 of their choosing, if they end up with one of the weaker teams then that’s their own fault. When you look at the whole list from this year, and with all due respect to them, there’s some on there that would be out of their depth in a Championship reserve berth let alone Premiership.

  13. When the RS scheme was first introduced you just had to have less then 3 years pro league experience or be under 25,, or something like that,, Bacon was about 28 if my memory serves me right,, and there was a bit of a fuss over Josh Bates having 3 years or less experience at that level.

  14. As long as a rider fits the criteria, there is no maximum amount of seasons. I think they have to be U23 or U24 at the start of the season, so Flint could have 2 or more seasons if his average stayed below 4.00.

  17. With the Monarchs suffering from injuries and Glasgow's Leon Flint away on SGP2 duty, apparently, this could turn into a who picks the best guest (s) competition. And with many teams racing the choices are limited to riders from Berwick, Plymouth and Workington if chosing from the Championship. Just lucky that Edinburgh managed to fit the fixture in rather than having to go off night.

  26. Ah okay thanks, wasn't sure if the win against Oxford was to do with the points difference. Which from what you are saying it isn't. He didn't sound too confident about it in the interview 😉 Although at Edinburgh I guess a lot is going to depend on what guests they have.

  31. That’s why they altered the criteria to avoid the likes of the Bates situation. Going by this years rules, you had to be 23 or under by January 1st to fit the qualifying criteria.

  38. Would make zero sense not to. I’m personally not too sure this scheme will work for much longer. There isn’t a huge pool of riders good enough left with those who are graduating out of it. There’s going to be a huge disparity between the likes of Flint, and those left on the list who clubs will be forced to choose. I like the idea in theory, but we’ve got to the point now that if it proceeds, we’re likely to see a few of the rising stars half a lap behind everyone else. Nobody wants to see that surely.

  39. Its a balancing act. You need to win your home meetings to keep the crowds, but must try and nick some agg points on the road, if your serious about top 4. I'm not sure on Basso. Both Paddy and Jan understandably haven't been good away either. Jan, Home 7.73 Away 5.16. But 100% should get the benefit of the doubt. Would be my first name on the team sheet. Paddy, Home 6.76 Away 2.82. How many can you have like this, would be my question. His equipment isn't the best either. He wouldn't be on my list for next season. Very early days of course.

  40. I think maybe the BSPL need to dismiss him asap, before the NFL's lawyers get to work. It may just save their bacon, but even if they do it, they're now vulnerable.

  41. Understatement of the year! Let’s have it right, Ipswich were a better side than Sheffield this year, the results between the clubs when both were at full strength proves that. The table before Emil joined Doyle on the sidelines also proves that. You’ll get some fans come on with “it’s not our fault we can only beat what’s put in front of us” or, “well that’s speedway injuries can happen”, you’ll always get supporters who are desperate for silverware and couldn’t care less how they get it. But the fact is, the injuries to Ipswich haven’t just spoiled it for Ipswich, they’ve spoiled it for everyone else because the clubs that lift the pots will know it’s a hollow victory. Surely as a fan you want to take on your opponents at their strongest so you know any victory would be fully deserved? No excuses can be made by the losing team, won fair and square. Yes injuries do happen of course they do, but losing not one but two 9.5 pointers is bonkers.

  42. There is a serious danger of a self perpetuating doom-loop scenario killing even more Clubs here. The avowed intent of the likes of Adrian Smith initially and then Phil Morris and very much supported by the likes of Rob Godfrey, was to have clear blue water between a televised Premier product and the Championship product. The logic being, its easier to sell both products when they are not blurred by the fact that 80% plus of the PL riders double down. The race by several CL Clubs to compete and pay money they cannot / could not afford is clear and it looked like we were beginning to see some clear blue water with a lowering of the CL limit, bringing in some sanity and a refusal to continue to pay PL heat leaders big guarantees to ride in the CL. It seems from this thread that the lunatics have regained control of the asylum; and if the CL limit rises again and the return/continuance of almost all CL teams looking like PL lite and running 40 point averages with one or two CL Clubs having 3 PL level heat leaders and others left with one or none, then the self flagellating doom loop starts all over again. This scenario killed a buoyant NDL circa 2017 - 2018. The root cause is the prehistoric belief that the UK can compete with Poland and the big fish mentality of some in the CL who can't or won't play in the big league because of the prhistoric belief UK PL has to race on a Monday and a Thursday, despite the fact that it now has no relevance as the POles do what they like and stick 2 fingers up to everyone. The are 2 simple options (1) Run the PL matches on a Monday / Tuesday / Wednesday; Thursday; Friday or Saturday and allow those CL teams who have the infrastructure to move up, to move up (2) Make the PL genuinely Elite by allowing far less doubling down of anyone with a PL average over 6 and turn the CL in to a League that is CL Lite and NDL rich bringing through the next generation. We are seeing elitism destroy football, it has half destroyed Rugby Union and is slowly eroding County Cricket. Clubs like Poole / Glasgow / Oxford should not have to be in the CL if they wish to be in the PL but only the race day obsession is preventing them. The Poles now race on a Tuesday / Thursday / Friday / Saturday / Sunday if it suits them, the Danes should no longer dictate what occurs on a Wednesday and very sadly Swedish Speedway is in an even more precarious position that the UK financially.

  45. I haven’t been able to attend much speedway this season due to travelling for work and last night served as a great reminder of what quality entertainment speedway can deliver. All credit to both teams, plus the track staff. What’s the deal with the boy Ivacic? Did he win a competition with the prize being a place in the Tigers’ line-up? Beyond woeful. An absolutely abysmal investment when you factor in costs associated with visas, work permits, etc. I’d retain Harris (throw money at him to stay) and Pearson, plus maybe… and it’s a huge maybe… for Flint who, although fantastic last night, has had an underwhelming season in Glasgow. I haven’t seen enough of Rowe to comment. Hopefully Jason Edwards wasn’t allowed to leave Ashfield last night without having a glass of red and a discussion about 2025 with the Facenna brothers

  47. I might of posted this before but my first and only encounter with Roman was at Sheffield, I was at no7 I think for Oxford ? in as a guest and it was at the start of my career,I remember him staring at me over the pits, I was a nobody but I guess at that point he doesn’t know that,he just sees me a new threat,he just kept looking which was intimidating as I knew exactly who he was and his reputation, think it was in my second ride I was off gate one and him off gate 2, as soon as the tapes went up he just turned left putting me on the grass, I guess looking back he was just stamping his mark on me so as not to go near him not that I was at that level, when I heard of his mysterious death I imagined in my head that he was in some sort of fight on his own against 300 men in some foreign war and giving a good account of himself too, certainly a character and not too bad on a bike either
