Absolutely, I meant in short term as that's the way Speedway promotions think. I fully agree this will drive some away, it stinks and makes a mockery of the whole league structure. I will ask this question, Leicester are 5th, Sheffield 4th with the lions having 2 matches left v Lynn to get above the Tigers, do Sheffield agree to drop out?4 points

STATEMENT FROM BRITISH SPEEDWAY PROMOTERS LTD We would like to clear up a misunderstanding amongst Speedway supporters regarding the appointment of Phil Morris to oversee the Premier League and its play-offs. When we appointed Phil Morris "to fix" British Speedway, it seems that some fans have stupidly misunderstood our use of the verb "to fix" These imbecile fans thought we were using the verb "to fix" in the sense of "to repair; mend; to put in order or in good condition". (e.g. the plumber fixed the leaky toilet) The BSPL would like to clarify that we were of course using the verb "to fix" in the sense of "to arrange or influence the outcome or action of, especially privately or dishonestly" (e.g. Vladimir Putin fixed the American election). It is clear to anyone with half a brain that we never intended for Phil Morris to repair, mend, or put the sport in good order. We hope that fans will now fully understand that Phil Morris has indeed successfully fixed the Premiership. Meanwhile the BSPL toilet is still leaking.4 points

Thanks for the love π. I tried to post twice yesterday but i was so pd off that my words were a little off for this forum so i deleted them. I started watching this sport in 1972 and have loved it .But how the sport has gone over the years has finally got to me. Three years ago i had a season ticket for both the Aces and the Colts .But this year i have been to watch 3 live meetings. I won't do a list of all the crap that has gone on over the last few years as you all will know. Its been building for a few years now and i have just realised that i cannot support a team in a sport that really is not a sport anymore its become a pile of contrived rubbish i have had enough. So unless feelings change i will be joining the many before me and walk away. I will still look in on this forum but not comment as i have retired and get a little bored and old habbits etc.3 points

Right there is the single biggest problem with British speedway, a sport run by the riders for the riders2 points

Maybe not in the short term but as usual British Speedway is so shortsighted they fail to see the bigger longer term detrimental effect this has on our sport! Reading some of the posts on here, it's already been the final straw for some and I'm having my faith put to the test at the moment... I'm a bloody mug though and the powers that be know that and we'll continue to limp along like this forever.2 points

In the light of FIM's latest World Championship ouvrΓ© of the Woman's Speedway Gold Trophy a further webpage has been added to the Speedway Champions site, - 'Women Champions'. It covers the WSGT and the 2 new national women's championships, plus other past female competitions and Match Races from the '30s, '60s and '80s, as well as biographies and profiles of women speedway riders past and present. https://speedwaychampions.yolasite.com/women-champions.php2 points

While I understand why they've made the decision, I do have questions 1) why extend the cut-off date if you're going to ignore the last two matches, surely you'd just keep the cut-off date as it is? 2) why would Sheffield agree to be "ranked" 2nd when they are currently top, what happens if Sheffield say yes to organising the semi finals, but no to meeting Belle Vue? 3) could they not have announced when the home legs were taking place but leave the opposition tbc? Mon 9th Ipswich v Leicester or Sheffield Thu 12th Leicester v Ipswich or Belle Vue Mon 16th Belle Vue v Sheffield or Leicester Thu 19th Sheffield v Belle Vue or Ipswich Not ideal, but I feel it's better than just making up who races who? Plus stops the two Leicester vs Lynn matches being pointless. You either have to count the cut-off now or the cut-off when the league is completed, you absolutely cannot choose Leicester top because you think they will be.2 points

The small matter of sporting INTEGRITY The powers that be wouldn't know a commercial reason if it walked up to them wearing a commercial reason t-shirt knocking them on the head saying "I am a commercial reason"! All those fans that have followed their team home and away fighting for a higher league position have been totally mugged off... Again!2 points

This thread has mainly got Lynn fans on it who will actually be attending to see their team ride for the final time this year. It's got nothing to do with play offs or finishing order for us. And come to think of it very little to do with you either.1 point

and pray tell which of Leicesters seven riders have been solely groomed by Leicester and not by other clubs at junior level or even ridden at other NDL teams ? Luke Crang ? Tom Spencer ? Arran Butcher ? Whilst they are to be applauded for running a team and have in recent times upped the practice sessions at the track they are not adverse to paying out a few bob to their riders and bringing in βexperiencedβ riders to strengthen their chances of success. Congratulations on the title , but don't get carried away with it.1 point

With the aggregate scores determining the winners from heat 10/11, it was good to see Poole's 3 heat leaders reducing their CMAs/GSAs for October in the latter races.ππ1 point

Bartosz as much the winner last night as Vaculik. 3 points separating the other 3 in the final and a win for any of them puts Bartosz under pressure. Cue Vaculik who is a further 12 points back winning. I think this shows in a World Final era, Bartosz may well not have as many world titles but his consistency is just way out above his competitors in this era. Lamberts's 3 in Gorzow and Freddie's 3 in Landshut are both killers in terms of a championship challenge.1 point

Well that just about says it all for me. I have been involved in Speedway all my life....well at least starting 1959 a few years after leaving the womb, I have done everything I can in Speedway from Fan to Rider to Promoter to National referee, yes mainly in Canada but I have never heard anything more INANE, stupid, ridiculous, idiotic and any other words you can think of for the way they have decided the playoffs this year.....How can our beloved sport be taken seriously after garbage decisions like this. I don't need any answers because I know there are no sensible answers to this, just wanted to spout off, which I rarely do, i.e NEVER! So please forgive me!1 point

What's enjoyable about watching 15 heats of gate and go Speedway where it doesn't matter in any way what the outcome is? The only jeopardy in this is for Lions to come out of it with no injuries, 75-15 with Lions 50 yards adrift in every race would suit me just fine.1 point

4 heat wins for Liebmann, 4 second places for Hellowell, who then loses a rostrum place in the Final when she fell unhindered coming out of the first lap. Result : Liebmann, Pedler, Gordon. https://speedwaychampions.yolasite.com/women-champions.php1 point

Starkey set the the scene in that one only just making the 2 minutes and not really being ready while Ben Trigger continued his Northside dominance over Sam McGurk. You guys won it by a distance and outscored our reserves 9-4. which proved to be the difference in us winning on the day.1 point

Well done to Poole on the aggregate win. The engine room of that team is fantastic. What a meeting of speedway today. Heat 15 probably the best Iβve seen all season. If you stayed away because of the deficit, then Iβm glad you missed a cracker and hope you have learnt your lesson π1 point

Think 'Cardiff without the roof' and you'll not be too far away. Monarchs scored better than I expected last night. Unfortunately, we discovered "too many Cooks" isn't always a bad thing. Congratulations to Poole. The people's Champions 2024. Say no to the Americanised play offs.1 point
