Because its not down to the 4 teams agreeing (or shouldn't be) it is what is set in the regulations that counts7 points

My thoughts are... Sheffield are currently top and should be playing 4th place Ipswich in the pay off semi-finals 😕7 points

Well done to Poole on the aggregate win. The engine room of that team is fantastic. What a meeting of speedway today. Heat 15 probably the best I’ve seen all season. If you stayed away because of the deficit, then I’m glad you missed a cracker and hope you have learnt your lesson 😌6 points

The sport is still as Mickey Mouse as it ever was.. Maybe even more with the bans/not bans/bans/not bans... Riders riding in semi finals for one team, and the final for another, still exists, just like last year.. Even Czech league meetings now take priority due to giving up Thursdays as a priority night.. What a great idea that has turned out to be!? "You can use our riders if you let us have priority on Thursdays".. And then the riders don't turn up!!! With the whole shebang being built around the agenda of the riders not the agenda of the paying spectator. "We open very infrequently due to having to wait for our employees to tell us when they can work" (Not a great business plan is it?).. The honest news no one seems to want to hear is that UK Speedway, in its current team format, and using it's ludicrous operating model, simply cannot work. As it single handedly fails to engage enough people to believe that the product is a genuine sporting competition, that provides any real kudos in winning... There is fundamentally zero point investing emotionally into a team sport when it is nothing more than a random, ad-hoc collection of riders, who will invariably be a different set of riders "representing you" the next time you set foot in the stadium.. What the sport needs is a root and branch review, overhaul and reset. With a well planned and marketed major relaunch .. Just like they should have done during the COVID break.. Phil Morris alone cannot sort out the amount of nonsense that pervades..6 points

So they are basically not following the regulations which clearly state 1v4 and 2v3 Together with Harris guesting for Sheffield in the Cup Final (currently listed anyway) which also explicitly goes against the regulations A shambolic corrupt mockery. No sporting integrity, no professional ethic6 points

Should support the comets win lose or draw, if more people are like you, and it's a poor crowd, for a top class opposition, what do the promotion think, if the crowd is down, especially when they will have an eye on 2025 season. UTC6 points

Proper speedway fans wouldn't turn up to any of these made up meetings,, unfortunately most proper speedway fans have already stopped going. Anyone who pays to watch this made up stuff deserve what they get.4 points

First and second yet to be decided, but on current form it is highly likely that Leicester will finish top. Next week was planned as a blank week for build up and organisation of the semi finals. If they had waited till next Friday to announce the dates and fixtures everyone on here would be moaning about short notice for arranging travel plans. If all 4 teams are in agreement then what is the issue ?4 points

I'm not sure he should be sacked... but if I were him I would seriously consider resigning as trying to run British Speedway is like trying to herd a bunch of cats! 😹4 points

Couldn’t make it up. But let’s not forget the real reason speedway is knacked in this country is the fault of the Grand Prix & Poland…….maybe instead of blaming the poles & gp we need to look closer to home.4 points

STATEMENT FROM BRITISH SPEEDWAY PROMOTERS LTD We would like to clear up a misunderstanding amongst Speedway supporters regarding the appointment of Phil Morris to oversee the Premier League and its play-offs. When we appointed Phil Morris "to fix" British Speedway, it seems that some fans have stupidly misunderstood our use of the verb "to fix" These imbecile fans thought we were using the verb "to fix" in the sense of "to repair; mend; to put in order or in good condition". (e.g. the plumber fixed the leaky toilet) The BSPL would like to clarify that we were of course using the verb "to fix" in the sense of "to arrange or influence the outcome or action of, especially privately or dishonestly" (e.g. Vladimir Putin fixed the American election). It is clear to anyone with half a brain that we never intended for Phil Morris to repair, mend, or put the sport in good order. We hope that fans will now fully understand that Phil Morris has indeed successfully fixed the Premiership. Meanwhile the BSPL toilet is still leaking.3 points

He was alot better today, fantastic meeting today every race had something just a point short couple of if,s and buts but it takes 2 teams to make a good un well done poole and the fantastic comets.if u stayed away u missed a cracker.3 points

Moving up would be the nuclear option! Roughly this time last year the 38 point limit was being widely banded about and I don't think many believed it until some of the higher averaged riders started saying they werent doing the Championship next season. This year its been very quiet, so far anyway. Another year of 38 points bullsh1t will kill our league.3 points
-
The diluting of the product is the biggest issue, we may need to move up if they continue with the ludicrous lowering of the points. Only two clubs we’re against this lowering ourselves and Poole so moving up may be the only option.3 points
-
It’s fair to say that this season has been a massive let down compared to the previous seasons. We have been used to some very good sides during this period but sometimes it doesn’t work, we just need to suck it up as a fanbase and hope for better next. On the plus side the whole spectacle and racing at Glasgow has been superb.3 points

Just go back to who ever finishes top of the league is the League Champions and cut all this nonsense of play offs out. Play offs are simply a commercial decision in any event. This is just an extension of that. Presumably any one of the 4 clubs could have said they were not in agreement and the rules should be followed, but they didn't3 points
-
Well Done Leicester... Top of the League... I have contacted Bet365 to pay my money out.....😁3 points
-
While I understand why they've made the decision, I do have questions 1) why extend the cut-off date if you're going to ignore the last two matches, surely you'd just keep the cut-off date as it is? 2) why would Sheffield agree to be "ranked" 2nd when they are currently top, what happens if Sheffield say yes to organising the semi finals, but no to meeting Belle Vue? 3) could they not have announced when the home legs were taking place but leave the opposition tbc? Mon 9th Ipswich v Leicester or Sheffield Thu 12th Leicester v Ipswich or Belle Vue Mon 16th Belle Vue v Sheffield or Leicester Thu 19th Sheffield v Belle Vue or Ipswich Not ideal, but I feel it's better than just making up who races who? Plus stops the two Leicester vs Lynn matches being pointless. You either have to count the cut-off now or the cut-off when the league is completed, you absolutely cannot choose Leicester top because you think they will be.3 points
-
Because however likely it is that we will beat Lynn and finish top, there's a chance we may not. The matches against Lynn are now completely pointless and yet again the sport had subverted its own rules. It sounds like the decision was made for "commercial reasons" which is a terrible affront to those who've ridden for their teams and those who've supported their teams.3 points
-
Also to add, doesn’t this make kings Lynn vs Leicester on Monday pointless, therefore we lose a live meeting of the cup final for a nothing match now. Even worse than before.3 points
-
The issue is that this is clear rule breaking by the governing body for the second time in 24 hours, the other one being Harris riding on Monday. I3 points

Bates has spoken. I wondered what he would be up at this year's end of season. Any rider he wants to guest, he gets whether it’s within the rules or not. Same last year. With him picking Belle Vue he gets a highly lucrative fixture due to The Aces bringing the most fans. Let’s hope the publicity machine is allowed to flow freely this time.3 points
-
Whoever was in charge of assembling this year’s team will hopefully have no input in assembling next year’s .3 points

Interesting... Quite a positive reaction for a rider whose average has dropped by a point this season and 2 points from his last stint on our shores! I've quite often had a pretty negative opinion of a rider that calls himself "Magic" while his performances on the world stage have often fitted into the Tragic category! Negative opinion mainly because his performances on the track have not lived up to his immense talent on a Speedway bike and that really annoys me, he's a bit Bewley like in that respect, you see him at his best and you think nobody will beat him ever again and then just goes missing for periods of time. I've got to say that my mind has been turned this season, after the initial disappointment of him not being the world class number one that, I think, most people, including the Oxford promotion, expected to see, I really expected to see him binned off as Oxford chased for honours... didn't happen though and I for one am glad it didn't. There was no pishing the fans and club about from him like some of the other foreign imports, he just stuck at it, kept turning up, riding his Speedway, putting in the effort and gradually got better as the year went on. Every time I saw him, there was 100% effort in all of his races, none of this quitting after a couple of laps and trundling around at the back or pulling off onto the centre... and that's all you can ask for as a fan. He is on a tempting average for next season, lowish considering his late season purple patch and who knows he may revert to type next season... but I'd have him back, first name on the team sheet if I were a Spires fan, a class act!3 points

C’mon Mods, why the need for this rank progress? It’s not a competition on how many times people post. I rarely do now as sensible posts can often lead to insulting confrontation by the usual suspects. You can view the sign ins and reads. You’re just opening it up to Trackprats. There are many good posters on this forum, focus on weeding out the planks.2 points

What makes matters worse is that Eurosport will be covering this! Pressure on Kevin Tatters to big up the importance of the meeting. The likely meeting outcome of course will be influenced by the findings of the dirtometer, which will impact on gate positions. If you are interested in examining track surfaces and have the opportunity to do so (Birmingham allowed fans to do this on track walks a couple of years ago, do they still do so?), you can purchase a dirtometer from me directly for £49.99 including postage. This device is endorsed by Kelv and should not be confused with inferior products which appear to just be screwdrivers.2 points

Now - for those wanting a conspiracy theory pin back your lugs and strap into your set Here we go Knowing the above is true and wanting to upset the Witches plans Sheffield have intially booked Harris so that Ipswich couldn't They knew it would be overturned but hoped that with it being late in the day that Ipswich would simply stick with their choices anyway If that looked like failing they will resist a change in the Ipswich line up so close to raceday siting a long forgotten regulation that has been mistakenly left in place since 1965 as an amendment to 1:12:32 sub section 4 paragraph 62 points

No, Harris would be eligible for Ipswich. The rule is if you guested in the semi then that is the only team you could guest for in the final2 points

As Sheffield have now re-declared their lineup with R/R instead of Harris, could Ipswich now re-declare theirs with Harris instead of Lidsey or Brennan?2 points

I had some hope that this appointment would provide some semblance of independence and impartiality Unfortunately it seems that hope was misplaced Perhaps if this situation isn't what Phil Morris expected the question should be will he resign rather than he be sacked - why would they sack him if he is playing the puppet they want?2 points

Danyon rode well, Matic didn't yet we still managed to win. And it was a brilliant night of speedway, credit to both teams and the track staff. It even stayed dry. Gotta try and keep Bomber, Leon, Anders and James for next season and it would be nice to also reward Jack with a place. All will depend on the points limit.2 points

100%.. Which is why I do find it amusing when fans berate riders who miss UK meetings but keep riding abroad.. "Taking the pee out of UK speedway and its fans" "No wonder Speedway over here isnt taken seriously" are often the refrains... I think they need to look a bit closer to "home" to see the real reasons why the sport is where it is... Another often used quote is.. "The promoters don't help themselves from time to time by their decisions".. I disagree.. They 100% help themselves by their decisions... It is the overall sport itself they often don't help by them...2 points

And the reason why they were labelled “pick and mix Tigers”. Sacking Brits just before the cut off and then strategically hand picking guests for certain tracks. All very snidey and unsavoury.2 points
