  1. You’re being deliberately misleading here using those averages which we all know don’t tell the full story because of the way averages work. Probably because just like Geoffrey, you don’t want to admit that Brennan has stepped up a level since leaving Belle Vue. As always the devil is in the detail. His average for the 2023 season at Belle Vue is near identical to his average over all meetings in 2024 for Birmingham. But take away the bonus points from sitting behind Kurtz and Bewley and the GSA’s show in 2023 he achieved 5.87, this year his GSA over all meetings is 6.50. There’s also a world of difference between riding without pressure at reserve/2,3,4 with Bewley and Kurtz doing the heavy lifting at the top end, than literally carrying the whole team (before Lindgren came in a few weeks ago) at either 1 or 5 and being the main source of points for your team. The boy has stepped it up a level this year, it’s ok to hold your hands up and accept it even if he’s done it at another club other than your beloved Belle Vue.

  2. You’re right, yes. But he’ll start the month at 6.00. We all also knew we weren’t making the playoffs with the team we had, and the promotion decided sticking with a team that was known to not be good enough wasn’t acceptable. They showed they weren’t prepared to just accept the season petering out without trying it, even if it was ultimately fruitless. I think most of us expected more than we’ve seen though, even if we didn’t think it would be enough.

  3. "I stopped contributing to live speedway a while back". So how do you feel able to criticise events that you do not witness? Wonderful things, keyboards!

  4. Good riddance after his “dive” in his first race at zeilona Gora yesterday he should have a worldwide ban for rest of season, rather watch vinny foord giving his all than a seasoned professional taking the pee out of British speedway

  5. Plenty of street parking on the main road where the entrance is, but get there with at least an hour to spare. A few side streets leading off it too which are ok.. The school across the road runs a paid car park and within 5 mins walk there are lots of on street opportunities outside houses and shops.. Edit. The food van outside is pretty decent too, but does get very busy, so, the earlier you arrive, the more chance of getting a slot on the main road, and something to eat. Regards, Simon Calder .

  9. Dan Thompson has to be the most improved rider inthe Championship this season, and his brother not far behind him.IMO

  10. We’ve covered 28 Championship meetings so far - 3 from every venue apart from Glasgow, plus 2 major events (Championship League Pairs and British U21 Final).

  11. Spent a chunk at reserve for easier rides last season. Now riding as a heat leader in the leagues weakest team but the strongest league strength in a decade. that 0.05 improvement is massive in real progress terms. Will be a steal on that average next season.

  13. Maciej Jankowski's controversial elimination from the Cardiff GP semi final reminds me of the 1963 PLRC at Belle Vue When five riders tied on nine points but only two places in the final remained open to them. What was the first decision to split them - heat wins? Fastest times? Whatever it was it provoked a sit down strike and ultimately a five man run off was ordered. May be this should have been done at Cardiff.

  15. Yes I most certainly do, he was good but not as good as the ones who came after. Was the second one over Scott Autrey?-he was a great rider, third in the one off World Championship. I thought once that he might go on to be World Champ.

  17. Justin started off well then had his unfortunate fall. Hopefully not out for any time. And to think that people want a second round of league fixtures added. Only 8 league matches to fit in and they aren't completed by the end of August. Will be racing in November with another set of fixtures added.

  19. Agreed....but only if he commits from the start of the season and for all of the season....these half hearted efforts do nothing for me...

  20. As the SCB like to hand out suspensions (although Tungate hasn't received his latest suspension yet), they should make an example of him and give him a long ban from British Speedway, years not days. I know it won't make a difference to him but it'll make a statement to other riders that think they can get away with a 28 day ban and then return when it suits them.

  22. If official car parks are sold out and you don't fancy street parking, then I have booked parking at the Asda Longsight store before. About a 10 - 15 min walk. I used the Just Park app to book. Another option if you need one

  23. Holder, Woffinden, Musielak, Kerr, Vissing, Gilkes was a pretty bad run for Sheffield last year.

  24. I’d also add that he’ll be in demand for next year so Birmingham may have a battle on their hands. Especially for the clubs that go top heavy and have heavy hitters at 1 and 5. Brennan on a 6 point average slotting in to the middle order and away from the demands of 1 and 5, would be a terrific signing. Hope Ipswich go in for him personally.

  25. It is a rearranged fixture. If I remember correctly the league fixture was changed to a BSN fixture June 1st.

  26. Congratulations to you and the rest of the team, as a full pass holder i think BSN is a great product and excellent value for money

  27. If this is true...then Tolley hasn't learned much from this season? First appointment should be someone who knows what they're doing! CVS / Peter Adams. Get rid of his amateur advisors! Then the next job is to get the track sorted! From this seasons side... Breenan and Cook are the only 2 riders worth re-signing IMO

  28. Every championship team has been on 3 times at home except Glasgow and Poole who so far have only featured twice. Edinburgh, Plymouth and Oxford all did appear in back to back meetings at home, although in Oxford's case one was the Cheetahs and one was the Spires 26 Championship meetings televised so far, including the Championship pairs

  29. Yes, it is for some clubs. Not Glasgow though. Also rearranged meetings tends to change the order of things.

  34. Although I’ve only come into the sport a few years back and never claim to know that much about it, I still feel like going to each home meeting is worth it. I live in Ipswich so I guess I don’t have to travel far but the team try and they are in the final and the play offs so I believe showing some support is always key and back the team. They have given us a great year so far even with injuries. To not back them now seems disappointing, win or lose it doesn’t matter. The sport needs building for sure, but everyone can be part of it.

  36. To those who didn't turn up you missed a great meeting. Great racing, 110% effort from all who were taking part. It wasn't just gate and go. There was lots of passing and attempted passing, non more so than young Pijper's attempted inside pass on the back strieght. He came down and was rightly excluded but it showed real determination. There was only one thing more that i would have liked other than more people there to watch, would have been for both of the teams to come out on to the dog track so that the crowd could show their apreciation. Quit afew of us stayed behind to do that. I just hope that we see more of this level of racing at Sheffield even though I know we have problems with stadium availability. These young people are the future of our sport.

  37. Shouldn't be any R/R in a DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE, even if the rider coming in has a way lower average than the missing rider who they are covering for, the 1-7 should be switched accordingly with averages on the day!

  45. What's all this Facebook Live business from BSN all of a sudden? The least I expect is to hear from the victors before they end transmission. If they're going to do this they should simulcast it like they did in the build up to the pairs. Not everybody is on Facebook
