  1. Lots of comments on here last week about the track conditions, lack of rakers, etc. so I assumed my eyes had been playing tricks on me all season. I made sure I paid attention tonight, and sure enough, 4 rakers on each bend, just like I had seen at every previous match this season. The track curator did the same job he always does, and many riders ran the outside line but no crashes. Can we all now accept that the accident last week was as much down to rider error as the track conditions, or are we going to continue to vilify the Sheffield track and it's preparation ? I have no doubt that Sayfutdinov is the best rider in the UK leagues at the moment, but he is not infallible, and I believe there was also something posted to say his footrest snapped off in the back straight incident so I am sure that would also have been a contributory factor. He did exactly what we want to see the top riders do and gave it his all to win the race, but sadly it didn't come off and he ended up hitting the fence, but let's blame the track instead.

  2. No they'll send Cruz Harris to school as a guest pupil.

  3. When the little 'un starts school and one day is ill, will they send Chris Harris as a 'Guest'? Just wondered! Seriously though, congrats to all concerned.

  4. I personally don’t think it was all about excess shale on the edge. Emil’s footrest snapped causing him problems on the end of straight and he could not rectify at that speed going into the bend

  6. All credit to the management at foxhall, who unlike others would have pulled strokes to call this off in self interest.

  7. Totally agree, let’s remember that speedway is an entertainment sport first and foremost and you want to see the better riders in meetings like this, with zero insult meant to Jack Smith or James Pearson would people rather see them in the meeting or Anders Rowe? I know I much prefer all teams to be as strong as possible…… albeit as a Monarchs fan that may change if Glasgow win this evening then I’ll be calling them all the cheats under the sun and saying how ridiculous the decision was to allow Anders to ride :-):-)

  9. Disappointed with Scott’s lack of Sportmanship on Podium.Though he was better than that.Ref had a tough call .

  10. Thought the ref called it spot on. Nicholls charged under Wright, fairly at first, but locked up causing Wright to hit him and fall. I thought instantly it was Nicholls fault because of the lockup. Was a good final up until that point. Glad Danny King turned his night around after a poor start. Got dialled right in.

  11. Wrong decision for me. Where does the ref come from?

  13. The track last night was no different to last week, riders were taking the same outside line but didn't fall off, perhaps there was another reason for Emil's fall last week apart from the track

  14. How long will the forum last tonight? I'm going to say until heat 2, so I'll get my comments in now... Where is Craig Cook Batchelor is a disgrace Why isn't Bomber riding for [INSERT TEAM NAME HERE] The track is too dusty The track is too narrow The track is too wide Etc. Etc.

  15. If you think it's narrow for bikes, you should try it in a car. 😉

  16. Some great racing last night even though the result was never in doubt for Sheffield after heat 4. The track was great and the riders could pass inside and out which gave Pickering in particular more to go at than last week. Good to see the reserves score some Dan Gilkes looks very smooth at times, I’m not sure Edwards feel as comfy still he doesn’t seem to like going out towards the fence. Fast Freddy showed his class in the second half of the meeting looked very quick. Thought Lampart did well and could see the 100% effort from him could be a bargain on his average next season. Cook and Brennan disappointing they normally go well round Owlerton. Top 4 very tight not sure who we will get in the play off semis

  17. and how do you this? The track was exactly same last night as it was last week, no falls at all

  25. It continues to amaze me how so many people living in places anything up to 100 or so miles from Perry Barr, seem to have such intimate knowledge of all the background information of how Birmingham Speedway is run and of the merits of the members of the promotion, so perhaps a few genuine facts might be useful to them: Senior Birmingham management have keys to Perry Barr Stadium, and access to the site can be obtained at any time - but access to the speedway track is a different matter. The stadium's major greyhound meeting is staged on Saturday nights so no work relative to the speedway operation can be conducted until Sunday mornings, and even then, the tenancy agreement insists that heavy equipment cannot be taken across the dog track until it has been covered, so this time consuming job has to be done first. When the weather has been as dry and hot as has been the case these last few weeks, watering of the speedway track commences on Sundays and continues throughout the day, and then re-commences on Monday mornings. The suggestion that last Monday "that the track was dusty from heat one" made by someone who was not at the meeting, is absolute nonsense. Regrading and re-watering of the track is usually conducted after heats 4, 8 and 12 as is the case at most other tracks. On this last Monday, the first re-grade was delayed due to the first heat being restarted twice, heat three being similarly re-started, and a further delay when a rider was excluded for failing to make the two minutes deadline and some confusion when he wasn't aware that he had been excluded. The situation with Pawlicki's absence has been well documented, and I imagine that pretty well all of us share the same opinion about this, but having now completed 75% of their fixtures, Birmingham are not now able to replace him with a new signing - but I have it on good authority that no Birmingham rider is on any kind of guarantee as seems to be widely imagined, and the clown who keeps flogging the notion that Birmingham should have signed Artem Laguta, must know as we all do, that Laguta is not interested in riding for a British Club. Where the poster who criticises Sam Ermolenko gets his information from, I do not know. Lampart was nominated for his Rider-Replacement ride in heat 3, but after a first bend collision his machine required adjustment and he subsequently failed to make the two minute warning and was excluded. His exclusion does not allow him to take another rider-replacement ride, which is fair enough. This might or might not have cost the Brummies the match, but it can hardly be the fault of the team manager! Birmingham's difficulties in assembling a more competitive team have been well documented since the start of the season, as have been the difficulties in persuading foreign riders to join the club. The signings of Milik and of Pawlicki have not been as successful as was hoped, and Freddie Lindgren, although still a very good rider, is taking a little time to re-adjust to racing on British tracks after his lengthy absence, so in my opinion, the Team Manager continues to have rather limited options in his job, and doesn't deserve the constant criticism he receives. Fair comment and opinions are always welcome on this site, but it seems to me that there are too many posters from distant parts who are making up their own opinions based on heresay or guesswork, and others who just can't seem to wait for their chance to put the boot in against a club and it's enthusiastic management, which is battling for its survival under difficult circumstances not all of which are of their own making.

  27. Some of your contributions...... 2022 'Cardiff hasn't produced a single decent moment in 20 stagings. End of story.' 2023 'It's Cardiff. Probably the grubbiest and most boring city in the UK. It needs binning.' Your comment in relation to the closure of Wolverhampton ' Good Riddance' Your comment in relation to Belle vue, 'Its the only track in the UK its worth watching the sport now given the rubbish all the others churn out.' Your comment in relation to AGM, 'Ludicrous that Birmingham and Workington have decided to move up a league when neither of the could make it pay in lower leagues last year. Even more crazy is Oxford running in 3 leagues! Predict all 3 will be gone before end of next season.' I could go on but I guess you will continue to pollute the forum.

  28. Oxford did well - no excuses - Killeen was outstanding Form comes and goes - hope we can peak again at the right time In other news Sam Hagon is a class act - my grandchildren over from Qatar to avoid the extreme heat came to speedway for the first time - they did drawings etc to get signed in the pits - despite his dip in form Sam signed everything and they are now hooked on Speedway !

  29. To correct you, I am the track curator in question, I went as a spectator, just to watch the meeting, I arrived about 5pm straight from work with no intention of doing anything, the track was being watered at that time, nearer to start time it was clearly drying out fast, it was also clear it would need watering during the meeting, you can not put water on a slick part of the track as it makes it like ice, as john was on his own I offered to help if needed, I graded after ht4, ht,7 ht11, so I find your accusation that I had an influence on the out come of the meeting offensive. I was told the track had been constantly been watered from Sunday, and all throughout Monday, I would also add many track curators know each other and it's not unusual for them to help each other out from time to time.

  30. I can't believe all these people slagging Cardiff off and not attending. It's the biggest showpiece event in our sport (or at least it used to be) and all many can do on here is moan about everything to do with it... well I hope you're all happy it seems you've got what you all wanted! You'll be moaning about ticket prices at Belle Vue next year, complaining you've got soaked to the skin in the rain and complaining that there's nothing to do around the stadium. £23 for a world class event in a state of the art stadium... with a roof! And all you can do is moan because you've lost your sense of adventure for 1 day of your life and need a comfy bed for a night instead of driving there and back in one go or staying somewhere away from Cardiff... you ought to be ashamed of yourselves! Remember where it was before Cardiff? Hackney, Bradford, Coventry... you don't know what you've had until it's gone. Well done everybody that stopped going!

  31. What's all this Facebook Live business from BSN all of a sudden? The least I expect is to hear from the victors before they end transmission. If they're going to do this they should simulcast it like they did in the build up to the pairs. Not everybody is on Facebook

  35. I think he was being facetious to make a point, I fully understand people make comment without facts or evidence - Ipswich in my view is wider than Sheffield, but i could be wrong. However I have been going to Sheffield off and on since 1998 and I don't ever really recall shale piled up by the fence but maybe I haven't been concentrating - wether that made the accident worse or not I can't say! We should all just be glad Emil wasnt seriously injured!

  40. So to avoid being excluded what you need to do is just run straight in to the rider messing up in front rather than taking avoiding action......

  43. Canny beat a bit of accuracy , and it was spot on . Decent enough meeting , Pickering was brilliant , had support from Thomson but that was it . For us wee James was the stand out performer . Will 10 points be enough for the bonus point , dont think it really matters now , always good to beat the Monarchs though .
