Dan Thompson overlooked... again! Is there a rule that excludes him from being reserve or should he just change his name to Hagon?7 points

More passing in a single heat than a whole meeting at Wimborne road. Very enjoyable meeting to watch.6 points

Great News! It could have been so much worse... As for the track? Only saw the incident on TV, but it was clear that the outside resembled a "ploughed field", so surely something should have been done about it? Seen the same thing happen quite a few times at Sheffield, which makes an already narrow track become even narrower as the vast majority of riders wouldn't use that outside line.. You would think that the referee could quite clearly see the massive difference in "slick" to "heavy" from their vantage point wouldn't you and seek some corrective measures... I would be amazed if heat one would be allowed to start with the track in that condition so why is any other heat different? Best Wishes to Emil, a true entertainer, and a great ambassador for the sport...6 points

The signing of Kerr could have been done 3 weeks ago which would have allowed musielak to join another British club if he so wished. obviously done to prevent him getting another club very much like Buster hung batchelor and holder out to dry. this is one reason why maybe it’s difficult to attract riders.4 points

Server upgrade removed somethng and it took me a while to figure out what! I will have to take the forum offline in a few days for a few hours to do some upgrades. Thanks, Phil4 points

Trigger has had the same bike for years. He's only changed the frame, engine, carb, chains, wheels, cut-out several times over!! (ref. Only Fools and Horses) Alright Dave!4 points

Exactly this. Both Holders were straight over to Emil, Chris was holding his head. How people can actually think Jack ran over there for an argument just shows the mentality of some on this forum4 points

Not listening to advice from others. Not getting stuck in. Not knowing which of his 9 engines to use. Causing lack of confidence4 points

10th Aug last Home meeting (including a 5 week break). No wonder people are fed up with fixture planning.Something needs to be done or the sport will be finished.3 points

Last year Poole lost 52-38 at Oxford and I watched some of their fans leave after the 5-1 in heat 12. Last year Plymouth lost 59-31 at Oxford and I watched their fans singing and chanting until the end. No comparison.3 points

I’m thrilled Emil has got away relatively well from what was a horrible crash. There are very few that carry themselves on and off track as well as him, a bright spark in what had been a pretty rough period for speedway in this country. Questions have got to be asked of the track prep at Sheffield though and how the material was allowed to build up like that across the course of the night, it resembled a motorcross berm.3 points

Wow,just wow.Same old, same old.I would rather give a try out to an untried foreigner or someone from the Championship.Keep going over old ground.3 points

It's always great to see the Plymouth supporters at Sandy Lane, waving the huge flags. Got to say I don't think there's such passionate supporters from any other visiting team, always creates a great atmosphere.3 points

Firstly terrific news Emil’s injuries aren’t as bad as first feared. Jack wasn’t going over to have words with a stricken Emil he was going to see how he was but Chris had got there first and could see the open wound on his posterior and Emil in pain so ushered Jack away so he couldn’t see it. Jack was sat devastated in the pits, Emil is one rider that all the others seem to like so he was concerned about his injury. Both Jack and Chris as well as other Sheffield riders were speaking to Marc Bates saying this accident is exactly why they need to change how the track at Owlerton is prepared. Too many armchair fans on here ready to go in two footed when they wasn’t there and didn’t either see the incident of the events afterwards.3 points

I am not a fan of Jack Holder after he and Kurtz let down Poole in the playoffs a few seasons back when they went on a bender the night before riding at Ipswich. I am indifferent to him, unlike his old bruv who I think is a great rider and decent bloke. But I completely disagree with those that said Jack Holder had a go at Emil while he was laying prone on the deck. Watching last night Jack turned on the track, parked his bike quickly by the gate, then ran over to see how Emil was. He then organised the track staff to form a cordon around Emil to block the view. No way did I see Jack Holder have a go at Emil. Quite the opposite.3 points

Due to the outage this thread hasn’t been overly active but just a little thought from Wednesday. What a great night. Some brilliant racing and some great individual performances, most notably Scott Nicholls and Dan Thompson. As one of the 20 or so travelling party at Sandy Lane on Wednesday just a huge thank you to Oxford for their kind welcome and messages of thanks via the PA system throughout the night. We had great fun and always look forward to our trips there. Sure we made a lot of noise but it’s all in good faith and we tried our best to really get behind Garry and the team and hopefully you all enjoyed the joviality of it all. We’re made to feel welcome at so many tracks and it’s always the case at Oxford. Best of luck in the playoffs. I fancy us to maybe nick this aggregate point however with only a 12pt deficit to overturn but that should be a great meeting to end the campaign for Plymouth (unless something drastic happens in the coming weeks!)3 points

Absolutely he wasn’t to blame …. But his actions all night was shocking3 points

So very sad to hear this news. A really nice bloke - he was always happy to chat and talk about speedway. I never heard anyone have a bad word to say about him. A great referee who seemed to have the respect of riders, team managers and promoters too - which is a very rare thing in our sport. And, from what I have read, he was involved in so many behind the scenes aspects of speedway in the UK and at FIM level, which will be a big miss with his knowledge and experience too. But, especially to all of his family and friends he will be greatly missed and I send my condolences to them at this very sad time. RIP Tony3 points

You have been around long enough Dean to see that that riders just don’t want to ride if track conditions are not perfect.( they know the fixture will be re run.).Don’t leave the house if there is a cloud in the sky these days. You have valid point regarding machinery.2 points

Well done Scunny. To go down by only 6 while carrying 3 riders is a pretty impressive! Fingers crossed Sam and Tobias can get themselves sorted and fast!2 points

On the one hand it's great that Leon is being recognised by the UK governing body by selecting him to represent the UK at the European Pairs Championship. However, to pick a rider who has an important league fixture in the UK and whose Championship average is less than 8pts does seem a bit bizarre. I'm surprised they didn't pick Bomber and Jack Smith as well.2 points

Please remember do not just exclude Pirates for any first bend incidents Note Glasgow, Workington and Poole. Thank you, Having flat white in Cleethorpes before going to Scunthorpe. Up the Pirates.2 points

Couldn't agree more BB. A top class rider putting it right on the line for his British club. An absolute breath of fresh air for British speedway and I sincerely hope he returns next year. Get well soon Emil.2 points

I was very vocal over woffindens comments at the play offs last season but I want to say the Sheffield fans riders and management were top class in their handling of the crash and subsequent comments and well wishes. full credit to you all.2 points

First and foremost thank god that Emil isn’t seriously injured. When I saw the crash I thought it could be the footrest which could cause the damage. As for Jack he should learn some respect from his brother Chris. You don’t go to give abuse to a rider who is prone on the track and was seen being pushed away. Chris went running back to the pits and brought something back to help. Didn’t Jack like it as Emil had the audacity to pass him in turn one, Jack then didn’t give him any room down the back straight which caused Emil to hit the fence and then he was a passenger into turn 3. Like people have said if he rolled the throttle off he would’ve hit the fence earlier. As for just Ipswich fans having a go about the track a lot of comments on here are from fans around the country not just Ipswich2 points

Amazing news that he came out of that one with no broken bones! I’m genuinely happy for the guy, forget speedway for one moment, it’s a guys life that was at risk! Emil wrote to me this morning that he plans to be back for the play offs!2 points

How have people turned this into a we hate Jack Holder instead of best wishes to Emil type of thread.. Typical Ipswich fans slagging the track off and riders, Foxhall is an absolute joke of a track as we’ve seen many times over the years the absolute cheek to slag Owlerton off is incredible. Jack and Emil threw bikes into that last bend after a fantastic race knowing the result was on the line and unfortunately Emil lost control of the bike, this is speedway and I have seen many crashes at different tracks in different countries. I wish him well and hope he is back on a bike asap. Great effort from the Witches team and deserved the win, our riders couldn’t get out the gate especially Picko and Chris. The reserves let’s be honest we’re pathetic apart from one race Dan Gilkes actually had a go. Edwards might as well of not bothered doesn’t attack the track what’s so ever, Jenkins had much less track experience round Owlerton and showed them both how to get round. They will cost us big time in the play offs and cup final. We desperately need Pickering to up his form and not sure how we go about replacing Tai2 points

So what’s the excuse for during the meeting? When the dirt has built up and the berm is ridiculously high and heavy. Not hard to go around with a blade to angle it back to the centre of the track and then have a grader or wonder wheel to spread it back out.2 points
-
Don’t dare slag off the Sheffield fans … I saw first hand my friends 8 year old daughter subjected to vile abuse last seasons Not blaming Holder one bit for the crash …. But his reaction earlier in the meeting was childish and then to try and have a word with Emil after the crash is awful behaviour Praying that our season isn’t over2 points
-
I’d rather lose by 40 at Sheffield than have a rider injured. I don’t blame the track at all. Everyone knows the dirt builds up by the fence and Emil choose to ride there as he was determined to get a win for Ipswich. let’s hope he recovers quickly.2 points

seems almost since he went to Leicester he's gone off the boil, confidence?2 points

at that speed the bike will just straighten up, better to keep the throttle open and try to ride it out2 points
-
But he doesn’t mind going to an away track with Simon lambert as a number one and Lewis Kerr replacing a heat leader. it shows complete contempt to his fellow promoters when Lynn come to town with a poor team and yet when it’s busters pocket which takes a hit he claims he can’t put out a sub standard team and calls it off. if you can’t play with the big boys then go down a league and be competitive there2 points
-
Why is Jack Holder such a spoilt brat, didn't even acknowledge Emil when Emil beat him, could learn a lot from his brother2 points
-
Jack Holder …. What a spoilt brat ….. what with him his brother and Tai it’s has to be the most whingiest team in the league ….. Go find your dummy Jack2 points

Couldn’t believe what I was seeing tonight, I felt cheated and to be honest I was glad it rained at heat 8 and got called off, there was no racing and a couple of ridiers were rolling round1 point

I thought I heard somewhere that Dan is riding abroad next weekend so maybe he is not able to do it. Definitely would have deserved it for his performances this season for Ipswich and Plymouth in 2024.1 point
