  1. Off thread but I would like to highlight the work the supporters club are doing behind the scenes to help keep Berwick Speedway on track with their 5-1 draw. The information is on other parts of social media as to how to join but to date the supporters club have handed over £55000 to the club, without which its very difficult to see how speedway would survive in the town.

  2. This season has been particularly shambolic regarding the fixture list. Clubs having weeks off in the height off summer is mind blowing especially for a SUMMER SPORT.

  3. Thanks to the Bears fans who made the journey over good to see you all . Comets weren't in front until heat 13 so you guys must have been slightly disappointed you didn't go away with all 3 points, the aggregate bonus was at least some consolation. I think the destination of the bonus was set during the first half of the meeting when the Bears posted 4 heat advantages and Comets suffered 2 mechanical failures when in scoring positions. In lots of ways I'm left reflecting what might have been this weekend if certain Comets team members had been present but that's another story. To those that represented Comets in their absence I would like to say thank you for giving your best it was appreciated by the fans. Antti Vuolas was superb in this meeting and showed how much it meant to him, some of his racing especially heat 9 when coming from behind against Danny King was edge of seat top drawer speedway, his best performance of the season for me topped off by a superb match winning ride in heat 15, fantastic. Big wraps to Paul Starke who's battling performance from reserve especially his 4th to 2nd in the heat 12 5-1 turned the meeting. The Bears battled hard and were pretty solid again throughout with Danny King best on the day while guest James Pearson gave a battling performance at No2. The Bears have still to go to Glasgow for their final away meeting, this could be a cracker in terms of fighting to make the playoffs. UTC !!

  4. Most people seem to agree that the referee made the wrong call in heat 15 - but the referee makes the decisions and these decisions have to be final - that's the way it is, and always has to be, and these things do usually even themselves out over a period, so I wouldn't pillory the referee over this one. On the plus side, everyone also seems to agree that this was a cracking meeting and that both sets of riders put everything into making it so - and that's good for speedway. As a long time Birmingham supporter, I'd like to have been there, but I'm pleased to know that those who did go, saw such an enjoyable contest.

  5. Allen went straight across barker in bend 1 after barker made gate. Mountain went up the inside and they were all side by side going into bend 3. Mountain nudges barker shedding his chain and wrecking his clutch, and then gesturing to the referees box. In rage and after seeing Scunthorpe on a clear 5-1 he parked his bike on the start in protest. And said he thought Joe Thompson deserved the race to be restarted as he had to shut off to not hit barker. Although he was far back before the incident. As Albert said just before me, Barker should’ve been thrown out the meeting.

  6. Must be so as we can have a 5 week break in the high of summer.Sunstroke is awful.!!

  7. Barker totally in the wrong to stop a race by placing his bike across the start line... should've been thrown out the meeting.

  8. Good to see the pit gate, can be fixed quickly when people actually want to run a meeting https://x.com/trackstaruk/status/1820000210673717734?s=46&t=rPICTg2ioQqN25iM48knaA

  9. I think the reason they used Ace for Vissing is because if they had a facility for him then he would be deemed to be withholding his services and get a 28 day ban, so they used Ace to avoid that.

  10. Have to say I thoroughly enjoyed last night's meeting. Great crowd, beautiful weather and some excellent racing by two committed teams. Plenty of close, good and occasionally hard racing but a good, jovial atmosphere in the pits between both sides. Track was in good shape if not very dusty at the end but it has been a very warm week. A great advert for Championship speedway in my opinion. Ben taking the law into his own hands was a first for me and I'm sure it'll be the last time we see that from him but he contributed to a great meeting with his 3 completed rides. He took some stick on here for Friday, personally thought that was the most comfortable he's looked on a bike all season last night

  11. At least Kvech has an average now. Definitely need a guest for Klindt imo with him being 4th in our averages.Quite a healthy average for a rider 4th in your averages too. Hopefully we can have a full 1-7 soon, that would be nice.

  12. Swindon council haven’t been played at all, this is what councils do, it’s about money, having seen first hand another councils work recently Swindon’s council stance is no surprise, they say anything to appease in public but do the opposite in reality

  13. As there’s very little interest in the NDL these days you can’t expect much interest in glorified amateur racing , can you.

  14. This would be treated as two separate offences, Rider A had been warned prior to this start so would be disqualified for a second offence,. Rider B is a straight disqualification for touching the tapes. It would be exactly the same for the second example

  18. A lot of teams like to ride on the Easter bank holiday weekend though, do think it dictates when season starts. Poole are riding every week in summer hols btw, so it can be done

  21. Diluting the product certainly doesn’t attract bigger Attendances. They don’t seem to worry about that though.

  23. Your opinion of course my opinion differs, and why would anything trouble me ? Strange comment the Glasgow team this year wasn’t great we could all see that but the standard of entertainment has went up another level so all good from that front. I can get your point to a certain extent but diluting the product year on year and still changing fans the same or more isn’t going to end well.

  24. How many heatleaders departed the league over the rumoured 38 point limit this time last year, and found other avenues rather than be left out? Did they jump or were they pushed?

  26. Needs to be a complete overhaul at the top , this continuing every year and be expected to be treated seriously is laughable. Fans are just an afterthought by the decision makers. The list of decisions made at the start of each season is getting more bizarre ,the icing on the cake being the 38 team building limit this year. That decision topped the list for madness by a distance, in my opinion there should be a body representing supporters for there input on what fans think and taken into account.

  27. Many years ago, Hull had two riders in the race after two exclusions. The Hull riders rode around in the rerun. The two Hull riders were both excluded for not making a bona fide attempt to race Result…0 - O score for the race

  31. Super Heat was great, but apart from Masters passing Etheridge off the 3rd /4th bend in Ht 13 most races were decided down the back straight 1 st lap close score kept the excitement in the meeting though.Drew the only consistent Bandits have.

  33. Isn't this just another example of British Speedway working in its own little world with the paying punters being shafted again because of it.

  34. Good job nobody was all over social media demanding that this one be called off because of the unavailability of riders... just saying (tin hat donned)

  35. That's not true, they could use a Championship guest up to 75% of Vissing's average. There is no rule where you have to use a NDL rider. Workington must have decided Pijper was the best option available?

  36. That's a bit over the top, how many Championship reserves have 6.00 averages? Now you could say he's no longer a heat leader & needs to be a second string. But in Plymouth's strength in depth side, that's not gonna happen (this year at least). He'd also still be a heat leader at Berwick & Redcar too!

  37. Result aside, I think this season has shown that Barker is no longer up to it at this level, maybe as a reserve, but heat leader or even 2nd string he isn't. I've watched about half a dozen Plymouth matches this season (albeit from afar) and he looks a totally rider to that of a couple years ago. Both his equipment and himself showing serious signs of wear and tear. I hope if we're back at the tapes next season that the promotion go in a different direction, despite the family connection. The Thompson's and Hook again proving to be the shining lights in an otherwise underwhelming 2024 team.

  38. Would agree with that.

  39. If two or more riders in the referees opinion touch the tapes then they would be excluded. However, in nearly all cases there is a clear indication (in the eyes of the referee) of who actually touched the tape first. There is no penalty directly linked to a rider prematurely moving and thus influencing a second rider to touch the tapes. However, the first rider may/should receive a warning for moving before the tapes went up and if already on a warning would also be excluded. this is why nearly all riders on a warning tend to stay still.
