Apart from Emil and another couple of ‘ superstars’ your watching the same riders racing each other just for different Teams though.7 points

Some off the best times in our History were had at Shawfield , used to go to the Greyhound’s on a Saturday and that’s what inspired me to shave my head back then. The announcer kept saying the hare is off and the rest is history.6 points

Come on everyone, this has to be the most pointless argument I've ever seen in the forum, from seemingly the most innocuous of posts. If Skidder1 is happy watching Championship racing at Poole then good for him. If others think Premiership racing with Emil is better so they go watch that, then good for them. These are opinions, there is no right or wrong answer. I've seen both good & bad matches at all levels of the sport. I've seen people saying the SON at Belle Vue was amazing, I thought it was almost a bore fest & seen far better racing round there. I know someone who prefers the racing at Armadale to Scunthorpe, which I find astonishing. I just fail to see why people are arguing over this?4 points

And to think people moaned about not having Emil and Keynan in heat 15 last week.4 points

As someone has mentioned it’s the winning that matters good racing is just an afterthought. Personally I prefer to be entertained first and foremost.3 points

What you are totally oblivious to is that it doesn't matter who is in the race to produce a very entertaining race and that's where the quality lies! I enjoy all levels whether that's an Emil or NDL racing. I've seen great and not so great racing at all levels. Remember, all the greats have to start somewhere. And you should've been at Glasgow on Friday especially heat 10 Ben Cook vs Bomber.......beat any race in the top league any day if ur into separating the leagues!3 points

How I get my 'wow' factor is entirely up to me. Watching Lawson, Brennan and Ben Cook against other heat leaders of similar standard is far better than watching Emil half a lap in front of various 'rising stars'. Each to their own as long as they still attend.3 points

Well that was one sided as we expected. Big crowd tonight on a very warm evening. Huge queues at the bars. As for the meeting, shame Glasgow are so weak really. No competition for the rampant Pirates. Harris battled and Ivacic gave some backup, but the rest were poor. A surprise 5-1 over the Cooks in heat 3 the highlight for them. But take a bow Vinnie Foord. Coming on leaps and bounds with 8 points tonight, backing up his fine efforts at Glasgow and Workington. He thanked his new sponsors who have helped no end. This has to be countered with Sam Hagon going the other way and struggling to find points, after they came easy earlier this season. Tobias came back a week too early and wasn’t on any real form though picked up paid 5. He starts at reserve with Ford next week with Hagon going to two. Sam might end up with three rides unless he picks it up. Richard Lawson was sublime. Full 15 point max and only led by Ivacic in one heat. Cook started slow but improved and topped off his performance with a last to second, passing Harris and Ivacic off the 4th bend in heat 15. Tom Brennan continued his great form dropping only 1 point. Glasgow perhaps did better than many expected. Harris loves the Poole track and it showed again tonight. But he found it too hot against Pirates top guys. Ivacic the best of the rest. Garrad way out of his depth, expected more from Pearson and Flint. Smith is a reserve and Barker is nowhere near the rider he was. On to Scunthorpe next week and a break from the league I believe with the first leg of the K O Cup.2 points

Teams who win leagues in the main are better than the others. Inevitably passing will be at a premium on home tracks. Ashfield is A1 as a track. Shawfield was brill for atmosphere superb double double seasons live with me forever. Many a meeting was no passing as Glasgow were so good then . Not many complaints about passing then. I am sure most fans want their riders to be first and second out of the 2nd bend . Complaints about standard of racing tend to come from losing teams support2 points

That's a bit of a myth. As somebody pointed out earlier, there are quite a few Premiership riders not in the Championship. Edit: I've had a look and just over half don't ride in the Champ (26 out of 49 in the latest declared line-ups). Bewley, Blodorn, Kurtz, Lidsey, Lampart, Lindgren, Pawlicki, Doyle, Ellis, Rew, Sayfutdinov, Iversen, Klindt, Kvech, Rowe, Wojdylo, Becker, Douglas, Fricke, Janowski, Riss, Tungate, C.Holder, J.Holder, Howarth, Woffinden2 points

Reading all the negativity on here around this match admittedly around the Lynn team does make me wonder. kings Lynn have had poor sides for the last few seasons coupled with the various off track issues & rather bizarre postponements. It’s like Buster doesn’t give a toss & I fully expect he will throw his toys out of the pram in October & pull Lynn out of league speedway & put it up for sale. The ironic thing is he is reaping the fruits of his time as chairman of the BSPA. Ive got my enthusiasm back for speedway over the last couple of seasons at Ipswich it’s been a joy to watch. It’s a shame that the sport as a whole isn’t run as professionally & as slick as Ipswich we might be in a better place. I fully intend to enjoy the rest of this season with Emil & Co & as much as I hope I’m wrong I can’t see the leagues being in a strong enough place next year for Emil to return. I really do fear for the future of this once great sport…….as for Thursday 60-302 points

Shovlar wants us to think he's been on a tour of Poole this morning, even checking out the stock status' at the cafes. What a plank!2 points

Be very unlucky if there’s a thunderstorm later. Forecast shows hot and sunny on the south coast riviera. Beaches packed, bars and restaurants busy, flat whites sold out, what a wonderful place to live. And trouncing Glasgow this evening at the Mecca of British speedway. What’s not to like? Seriously, let’s hope for a close, exciting meeting that exceeds expectations.2 points

That's really the problem this season there isn't another 2nd div team who have 3 heat leaders of similar standard to lawson, brennan and cook so it's more like a procession than a "wow".obviously the top division is better silly to say otherwise. Think for non speedway related reasons it suits the promoter at the moment to make decent relatively 'easy money " in the championship.2 points

Freddie is one is the best riders in the World recently beating a multi World Champion on his home track of numerous years to win Gorzow SGP and has been a great servant to British Speedway, unlike Laguta !2 points

If they've given up on play-offs yes, just sign Baek for Covatti & run a 7 man team. But if they think they can still make the top 4, guests for Covatti are stronger than Newman. You could question the morals of not replacing a missing rider, but they're not the only club to do that.2 points

Won’t get journeymen at Poole. Personally would have kept Rowe. Could see the potential and he is showing it now. Going to be a good rider. Kemp cooked his goose with a tantrum at the playoff final at Kings Lynn against Leicester. Pi55ed off Danny Ford and that was that. Kemp is certainly showing his improvement and always has a point to prove at Poole. Would have been a far better guest than Barker. Just needs consistency.1 point

That’s the fault of the lowering of the points limit year on year not the club.1 point

My post was responding to SF91's post above... "Mark Lemon obviously not letting his riders guest! Lemon contributing to British speedway’s downfall " I replied that, if it was the case, then he must of been doing it to avoid injury, as Lynn ain't a threat. To me that means if Lemon was blocking them, it must of been to protect them.... Of course they might of said no. Thats why i said if that was the case... If you read it again i said,i didn't think Lemon could block them... Where have i said that what SF91 posted was a fact... Or agreed with him ?1 point

Redcar juniors stalwart and former promoter, Kev Keay did the same , said the interference from those two ruined the ethos of the league and thats cleaning up the words he actualy used.1 point

When Ipswich dropped down we didn’t win anything the racing was poor and people lost interest … also when we dropped down the Poole fans were quick to ridicule and mock as they had top riders Poole are ok where they are winning … if they struggle the fans simply don’t support1 point

You have to feel sorry for riders like Kyle Newman, only riding in one league his season has been fragmented and never really got going. You can't expect a rider to get going with such large gaps in his racing calendar, good rider with still a lot to offer the sport.1 point

I have to admit they seem intent to run the Championship into the ground for reasons best know too themselves.Should have been one League years ago.1 point

Well said! Everyone has a personal preference. I will always go to Poole every meeting but I prefer the racing at Oxford at Prem level, it’s more competitive I personally think. I have also seen Poole at Oxford and it’s clear which meetings the main supports attend, they support the Premiership with crowd numbers compared to Champ. Went to watch Sheffield at Oxford with Tai and the Holder brothers that brought a very healthy crowd, Ipswich obviously do too with Emil and Doyle (when fit) The more GP riders come back and world stars the more people will go to those tracks and watch.1 point
-
With the crowds they get according to some on here for a 2nd tier team, why wouldn't you run in the Prem, and give the fans some top riders to watch. It seems that he would rather run Weds in the Champ, and make a bit more money, than ride Prem, still make money, but not as much, than give his loyal supporters a top tier team. He could do another poll i guess . Just an outsiders humble opinion of course.1 point

S.Lambert and Kerr tomorrow,RR for Basso. What a crock of sh!t£.Good luck to any Lynn fans making the trip,if any.You will be certainly more dedicated than me.Back in the 80's and 90's I would have gone, only because I was young and foolish then.I wouldn't be wasting my money on this, that is for sure this time.1 point

And yet Oxford running three teams in three leagues will have completed their NDL home programme in August and are ahead of almost every team in the Prem and Championship in terms of home matches ridden1 point

You don't want any club to close, but you want Buster to close speedway at Lynn so we all cry like little babies. That to me says you do want a club to close.1 point

Colin Mackie walked away from Ashfield Giants juniors partly because of the decision of Vatcher and McGregor to strip the league title, after it had been awarded, from them and give it to Edinburgh.1 point

JJ is correct. The track was watered continuously from early morning, and it was only towards the end that there was any dust. Personally, I seriously doubt whether many of the people who post on this site have actually been in attendance at the matches that they comment on. There is a hard core who come what may, will never be satisfied and a good many more who seem to just follow on and and add their own opinions to these comments.1 point
