  1. Hi guys, belle vue fan here who is in glasgow with work. Decided the check out ashfield. What a great set up! Entrance gates open so ducked my head and there was a rider doing laps, im supposing it was Ivacic? Obviously no other riders on track but he looked rapid!

  2. Of course I'm risking the comeback of 'you would say that' but for me if a rider witholds his services then he shouldn't be allowed to go elsewhere that season. If hes sacked then fair enough, or settles his differences and comes back for his original club but there has clearly been some underhand stuff going on here on the rider's part, however he dresses it up. Don't blame Ipswich for asking but I think the BSPL have decided correctly.

  3. Basso withdrawn with injury at Sheffield. Honestly can’t believe this season. Considering starting a go fund me for an exorcist!!

  4. While I agree that it's certainly unfair that clubs can drop riders but a rider will get a ban of they want to leave a club, I have no sympathy for Musielak. He said he needed a break due to injury, while still riding in Poland. Then says he's sitting out the rest of the GB season. So if he feels fit to return it should be with King's Lynn. If he's not happy there, just be honest about it.

  5. All this criticism of Poole, but we know who has the last laugh, and it’s not all their critics on here.

  6. Poole have a fanbase used to winning and their business model is solely based around that.. Unlike many other tracks, they actually have a fanbase to lose given the numbers they get.. Hence, they astutely know, victories keep them attending.. Come their leg of the final they will probably top 2000, which for some in the Championship is three meetings worth of attendees.. Many fans around the country attend for "the racing", Poole fans attend more for "the success" as that has been their default position for the past two decades.. Accordingly, their promoters give their punters what they want ..

  7. It was an entirely predictable outcome. Whether we agree with Belle Vue signing Lambert to replace the injured Fricke is down to personal views. However, there was such an outcry that SCB changed the rules - and now we have the current position. Sometimes speedway reaps what it sows.

  8. Good win for Leicester that they were proper up for it and deserved winners. King and Ellis let Ipswich down tonight. A few dangerous moves from Lawson, cook and Fricke this evening that probably crossed the line of hard/fair racing. A few times Lucky there wasn’t a nasty incident. Desperately need our heat leader replacement sorted asap and Thompson back.

  9. Is another Belle Vue the best blueprint? I think the track is over-rated and defaults to the wide line too early. From what I've seen and heard lately, the new Swindon and Workington are better racetracks.

  18. Glad you’ve done it. I did, but quickly deleted I’m 50/50 on this now. I totally understand where you’re coming from and I was of the same opinion as you a few weeks ago. I believe I said as much on here. But after hearing a little more I’ve changed my mind a bit. Forget all the local rivalry stuff I’m too long in the tooth for all that, I genuinely feel sorry for the loyal Lynn fans you’re all the innocent parties here, but your club is being run appallingly. Sheffield might not be giving up as easily as Ipswich. Let’s see what happens.

  19. I don't think he is fully fit either but little choice of guests, some that were tried were unavailable and with most teams racing on Friday leaves little scope, difficult when you have 2 newbies racing as well, shame about Stevie being ill, he was coming into some great form as well

  20. More bizarre Ben Barker thinks it's a good idea! Not such an issue for Glasgow, as we'll get him the first night.
    2 points
  21. Why? R/R is probably the best option, 6 of the 9 clubs already riding on Friday. Not much choice between Berwick, Oxford and Plymouth riders

  27. As at least half a dozen Oxford riders have ridden against Oxford this year, I don't imagine Killeen would've gotten much grief if he guested for the Aces. I would've picked Killeen, but can also understand why Belle Vue would choose Mulford.

  29. Disappointed with Tobi, always had him down as a nice bloke and enjoyed watching him at Peterborough but after his article in the SS I presumed he was going back to KL imminently not back track. Not bothered about Chapman and Allitt but do feel for the fans.

  30. McGurk has only been at Armadale once this year… and struggled. Fully expect Connor and Max to have the better of him and Celina. Interested to see how Vuolas goes but I think we should have more than enough to win this meeting.

  32. He simply can’t ride elsewhere until Lynn sign a replacement. You can’t have a facility for a rider in any form whilst letting the rider you’re granting that facility for ride for someone else. As for the others in your team who knows? Still earning aren’t they. Maybe principals are not as important to them.
    1 point
  33. Well we certainly accepted it. Surely there must have been another Saturday or Tuesday come to that and yes I know Bomber rides in Sweden on some Tuesdays. Or should we have tried to change the Armadale date instead?

  34. I tend to agree with the principle you set out - makes a lot of sense although it effectively makes the ban for withholding a whole season rather than 28 days For that to be fair however I would say riders would argue for that to happen any rider dropped would need to be paid for the season (or until redeployed) Also bear in mind how biased the withholding services situation is towards teams. Riders can be threatened with the ban even when doing so for not paid being for weeks/months

  35. Sedgmen assumes the average of the rider he is replacing (Musielak) so as Klindt is third in the Lynn averages the answer should be no.
    1 point
  36. On the flip side should KL still have a facility for him now the 28 days are up since his ban? They should now be looking to sign a replacement (not much out there to choose from) but that's no one else's fault

  37. Absolutely. Was always gonna be a non starter for me though.

  38. I don't think there's been a meeting where he's deserved extra rides, it's obvious Pawliki/Millik were signed JUST to tick the necessary boxes to be admitted in to the Premier, there appears to be no thought/positive team building tactics....but I agree with ALL your other points of view ! There's only been 2 decent signings at PB this season and that's Brennan and Lingdren.... Zach Cook was a promising signing....but making him the scapegoat for the poor results/performances and management ineptness, was sacrilege!

  41. You have to wonder whether internal talks between the clubs on the 75% rule should be scrapped. There’s currently 3 clubs missing a top heatleader and struggling to replace them. Ipswich for example, have known since the end of May that Doyle was out for the season and I know for a fact they’ve tried every top line rider out there without success. They’ve been close a couple of times, but ultimately couldn’t get them over the line. Sheffield and now Lynn are now having the same issues. My understanding is that there are a couple that would be willing to come, but not before clubs reach their 75% cut off. Let’s see if this “rule” stays in place.

  42. When it rains it pours for Garry and Mark. If Covatti’s injury is as rough as it seems then Batchelor… send for Batchelor!!
    1 point
  43. Gotcha. The 75% average is for guests, not team positioning, so Sedgmen rides at 1, doesn't get a r/r outing. Actually helps Lynn, they're better off being able to give Basso an extra ride than Sedgmen.

  44. The second test at Brandon was partially covered by BBC-TV (Sportsview, I think). At the same meeting, Nigel Boocock beat Ove Fundin in the Golden Helmet. Some night that was!

  45. He was badly injured at Hackney (90 ithink badly broken leg ) took a season to recover and then switched to Arena in 1991 when we won the div 2 and got prompted under Terry Russell - where he had a fairly reasonable few seasons but he never was the same rider sadly! Still good and was a much liked / valued rider at Arena. All seems so long ago, Andy Silver me fabulous rider and my first speedway hero! By my reckoning both retired in the early -mid 90s so outside the scope - apologies but good memories anyway!
