In a pairs event , then 4,3,2,0 is the correct scoring. to promote team racing for a pairs event. we should be celebrating a fantastic night of racing which culminated in a terrific grand final in heat 23. A massive thank you to Chris Morton who created/designed the track.9 points

It seems to me that Belle Vue speedway hasn't really realised its own worth in this whole deal. It's possible that WBD/FIM need Belle Vue more than Belle Vue needs them. If this year is to be the last Cardiff and if ticket sales are as bad as the last 2 years I highly suspect it will be then where else do you hold a British GP? King's Lynn? Sheffield? Bradford? Can you have a Speedway World Championship credibly without a British round? If I were Belle Vue I would have told WBD to go do one. If they wanted to see if BV could stage an SoN I would have told them that they already had in 2021 and an SWC in 2016.7 points

Well if a GP was held at the NSS,I would certainly pay more for a ticket than I would do for Cardiff. If Cardiff is an average of £20-£40,then I would happily pay an average of between £40-£60 for a GP in Manchester.Simply because the racing is far superior. I use to go every year to Cardiff but haven't been there last probably 5 years. You realise you got swayed by the atmosphere rather than the racing.Yes it would be great to have the atmosphere/racing go hand in hand, but it doesn't in Cardiff. So give me proper racing any day so the NSS wins hands down.6 points

Must give great Credit to the Organisers of the Whole Event very Professional and ran like clockwork considering everything that was throw at them weather wise and track. Also the riders to their credit who just got on with it.Peoples criticism of Phil Morris is unjustified he runs a good show.6 points

You seem to have a real bee in your bonnet about this......I expect the idea was that Lambert would be more comfortable round the kerb than Bewley and Dan probably better from the back at BV as it's his home track. It's a team event and the idea is you use riders to their strengths to get the job done, that's exactly what GB did and it worked. I keep reading this and find it inconceivable that the two riders didn't have more of an input than the TM.5 points

What a week! Most of it has been said already, I did it about as cheap as I could, £123 for a 4 day South Stand ticket, around £85 on fuel for 4 Leicester to Belle Vue return car trips, £0 for on street parking, £0 for a programme, I used the SGP app and around £10 for food (Aldi Salads ). The South Stand may have been Health & Safety full and a sell out, but it certainly wasn't full full. It may have been sardines in some areas but in the area I was standing it certainly wasn't sardine full. The Speedway, can't fault it, even when the track was less than perfect (for Belle Vue) it still produced some breathtaking action and the cherry on the icing on top of the cake a Team GB win, absolutely fantastic and great to be part of it live. The temporary stand though, we can only hope that this hasn't jeopardised the future of Belle Vue Speedway. Sadly we'll probably only ever know if it was a success or not by the survival of the promotion or whether any events like this ever return to the NSS. You'd think that the promotion should have had some leverage over WBD/FIM by "agreeing" to stage it as if they hadn't then basically every SoN/SWC will be held in Poland in the future which doesn't really make the competitions credible. There is probably a reason why Sweden haven't hosted these competitions since 2012! Well done GB CHAMPIONS!5 points

'The two promotions have been in contact and have agreed the forecast for Monday evening offers little prospect of racing.' And one presumes the BSPL/SCB will have been involved too as a result of goings on earlier in the season.4 points
-
I'm actually glad there was a poor crowd or at least loads of spaces available in the stands. Speedway fans have let the promoters know what they are prepared to pay, had the stadium been full, then it could have been made more expensive next time. If Belle Vue hold the SON, SWC or a GP in the future, they'll have to make tickets cheaper, find a sponsor, get discovery to ask for less money or let Poland host everything.4 points

Enjoyable meeting for a good cause, Dan Bewley was outstanding, a mention to the young American with a great name Slater lLghthouse a very good prospect, don't know what average he would come on but we'll worth a punt3 points

It needs to be a 2 day event, maybe top 5 seeded straight to final and then the other 7 nations do race off on the Friday for last 2 places.3 points

As both riders of a team are allowed to switch gates within the 1 and 3 and 2 and 4 position i would think what Kubera did was perfectly legal.3 points
-
Well done to GB, Lambert the best rider on the night and Bewley backed him up well after those first two rides.3 points
-
If British Speedway is too cheap, then it is in more trouble than I thought.Your theory must be double the admission will double the crowd. ps Younger people can probably afford it but are just not interested3 points
-
Was it 70 quid a ticket? Really? Taking that into account I'd say the crowd was pretty good.3 points

Stop the bollocks Steve, you weren't there the back straight was full, it was sold out that's a fact. I was there you couldn't move it was packed, why make things up?3 points

First of all. Congrats team GB, fantastic night of racing and a worthy winner (we know the rules beforehand) The whole week was ran very very well and mark and his team should be very proud of what they have achieved this week. yes mistakes were made with pricing but for me only the kids pricing. He got that totally wrong. the adult tickets I think were fine, that’s just the going rate for big events that n this country now especially in Manchester that fast becoming a mini London. steve says the south was empty but I felt like sardines in there so can’t have been that empty. there was 250 tickets sold in east stand so while that’s very very low it’s not under 100 low like most are saying. altogether I say about 3200 there tonight. Not great but certainly not a tiny crowd for Uk speedway3 points

Re costing to hold such meetings…. If the FIM wants world championships in places other than mainland Europe they should have to cover costs….excess costs especially. Belle Vue is an exceptional race track…… IMO one of the top 3 in the world. It’s worthy of holding world class meetings. If because temp stands have to be erected then some governing body should be on the boil and cough up to cover at least losses. This week there were over 90 fast races on the BV track, poor weather conditions too, yet the track held up, no rutting at all, that is quiet an achievement….. well done to all the staff that prepped the track and kept in racing condition. Accolades must go to Chris Morton for all the years he (and others) stuck to the dream and battled their way through Manchester Council for them to fund the stadium. Such a shame that the very first meeting back in 2016, the Peter Craven Memorial Trophy, had to be cancelled because of errors caused by contractors, leading to a big financial loss to Mort that was going to be tough to sort. And just think, when you saw an aerial view of the new stadium and close surrounding area you could see the places that The Hyde Road track, in existence before the 2nd world war, the greyhound stadium track (never liked it) and the NSS occupied or did occupy, all within a few hundred metres. A lot of speedway history in Manchester indeed.3 points

The aerial shots of the NSS really do tell you what a great facility it is and oh to live in one of the houses close by. We should all be proud of this stadium and the vision of those who saw it through. We know the opening day was not good but they have created a legacy to be proud of. Well done to everyone behind the scenes this week who have given us a great week of speedway. A big thank you, you have done the UK proud.3 points

If Leicester wanted the points they wouldn't have agreed to the postponement one would imagine. I did wonder if both sides have new signings lined up and want to run it on a dry night when those riders are in.2 points

To be honest the event promoters should have noted what’s happened to the attendance at the British GP in recent years and why, they clearly haven’t and looking at the attendances this week I cannot see how they balanced the books if the early information about the staging costs is right. The final was excellent entertainment with some exceptional racing and the icing of course was GB winning, shame the weather somewhat ruined the other three meetings but the final was worth the wait.2 points

Some debut for William Cairns today scoring 19 from a possible 21 points.2 points

And where were those 12000 people going to come from, you could have made it free for the semi finals and still wouldn’t have had many there and people not going to travel from round the country and pay for hotel for 5 days. exacty the same with Wroclaw being empty last year, and Vojens the year before.2 points
-
They won’t have done, Mark Lemon admitted few weeks ago they will be making a loss but had to do it to prove can hold a GP.2 points
-
That was Average mate, some over £100 in the grandstand, cheapest being £95. Some can't grasp basic maths, at £30 a ticket a sell out would have made less money. The only issue I had was kids tickets should of been cheaper.2 points
-
spot on iainb and kudos to you for traveling to every meeting.(proper speedway fan) i always stand on 3rd bend and had plenty of safe space around me.2 points
-
It was certainly sardine full at 2nd bend end, people were pushing past each other to get to toilets, beer etc, looked like stewards tried to do something about it but failed. You can sell 1200 in there most go to 2nd bend end as that’s the first entrance from entering stadium and in speedway most people prefer 1st/2nd bend to 3rd/4th bend (another issue with temp stand) so the 3rd bend end will look more sparse.2 points

Superb spectacular racing all evening, but over shadowed by inept start marshal and referee on several occasions. Allowing gate positions of 1 and 4, 2 and 3 in one heat before intervention of another official. Best of all was the alleged starting gate fault with automatic timing for start failure. After Zmarzlik was excluded in Heat 11 in gate 3 in the rerun Kubera lined up in gate 3 (Wrong) Un wittingly and confused the referee panicked, causing mayhem and excuses started to flow with alleged failure of system and all the messing about. When they lined up for the race again Kubera was in his correct gate.2 points

The only real permanent track in the UK that can hold such an event, for racing it is head and shoulders above any other viable venue. I doubt Belle Vue will be out of pocket to any great degree or if indeed any, the FIM would of been involved financially....why do folk look and try to find the negatives in a event that was well run, entertaining and finished with a win for Team GB...for me a great advert for British speedway. On here i often read about the glory days and how speedway was better in the day, SON is head and shoulders above the best pairs events in those days.2 points
-
You can pay more for a rock gig in the arena here than for this meeting, as you say pricing is not just a speedway issue, F1, Wimbledon, two examples.2 points
-
Never was "winner take all"... That's why you have 3 for first, 2 for 2nd, and 1 for 3rd. That's why the top 3, 4, 8, or whatever, qualified for the next round of the World Championship. That's why riders get paid per point, and per start.2 points
-
What a complete mess of a meeting, promoting club losing money, 2nd and third better than a win, whatever happened to speedway. What attracted me to the sport was winner takes all, first past the flag wins, sad day for the sport as it dies a little bit more2 points

100%. To get 7000 there at an average of £70 was a huge gamble, especially given that would be around (being kind), 25% of the whole Speedway watching public in the UK.. As a one off event though you would be delighted with well over the £200k that got delivered.. And at £50 on average a ticket I would think 5000+ would be attainable.. They didn't "read the room" too well when it came to planning a week of Speedway given the lack of interest in the sport nationally, and the fact they must have expected a couple of thousand at least would stump up four meetings worth of money, (never happening in a million years), when at least two of the meetings had no national UK interest.. A one off GP would easily "wipe its face" though and probosbly more, in my opinion.. A great night though, regardless of the other issues...... And one of those events that you can truly happily say "I was there", so kudos to the organisers for delivering such a fantastic experience... When Speedway is done this well you should be filling your stadia, and, maybe, one day, the marketing will be taken seriously enough by promoters to back up the on track action.. Lambert and Bewley...2 points

What a win great for team GB and something we should be shouting from the rooftops and getting out there publishing this out in tv and news press! British speedway use this as a start to make things better!2 points

Hope it doesn’t affect the clubs viability. That stand would have cost tens of thousands.2 points

Get In ! Now THAT'S Rock And Roll ! No one can say they didn't deserve it, no one stopped or fell in their races they had to really race hard & Aussies certainly don't ever just lie down, esp when it's v Us Pomms. When Woffy crashed in the GP I thought "Oh, no here we freakin' go again !", but Robert & Dan did it. Good on them. Believe me, people it means waay more when it's your team and / or your country. Loved it, I'm smiling (for once some might say !) ....2 points

Quite clear the moment it got announced... As was the plan to build a stand that wasn't going to be affordable to many... A truly baffling business decision.... But this is a UK Speedway promoter...2 points

Though the crowds will no doubt have been adversely affect by the weather, the racing certainly has not. Despite the rain the track has been terrific on each occasion with lots of great racing and passing throughout. Just because there is a bit of spray and mud flying doesn't mean the racing is poor! If anything it has been a remarkable achievement to proceed essentially unaffected despite rain falling all week. Well done Belle Vue, all the riders, and everyone involved!2 points

Mike Hunter's media briefing on Sunday's event.... Young Czech Jan Kvech has made a major impression both in the Grand Prix series and his outings in the UK for King's Lynn, and the organisers of the Ben Fund Bonanza are very happy to have secured his participation in the restaging of the event at Workington on 14th July. SRBF Chairman Paul Ackroyd comments "I went to Birmingham last week to check whether Freddie Lindgren was still available for the restaging, but unfortunately he can't do it. However Jan Kvech quickly offered to take up the position! I've seen his early meetings in the UK at King's Lynn and Birmingham and also last weekend's Grand Prix where he did well. I've been impressed each time. He's a lovely lad to talk to also." There's more good news because two further top class performers have joined the field, namely Charles Wright and Adam Ellis, both former British Champions (bringing the number of ex-British Champions to four!) We thank Charles and Adam for coming in at short notice. Craig Cook and Danny King of course are also former double Bonanza winners, with Ben Barker also a Bonanza Champion. Ackroyd commented "We are very happy with the field we have, including two flamboyant members of Team USA as well, I'm sure there will be plenty of eyes on them." A sad reminder of the importance of the Speedway Riders Benevolent Fund arrived on Monday night with the injuries sustained by Tate Zische at Belle Vue. The young Aussie has taken the UK by storm this year and had also agreed to ride in the Bonanza prior to his accident. Everyone associated with the SRBF sends him every good wish for a speedy recovery.2 points

Trick likes GB. That puts the moccas on us! Only about 100 people in that big temp stand. Embarrassing. Such a small crowd. Get about as many at a Poole league meeting. Last time at BV surely.1 point

Is your account linked up to Sky correctly? Try logging into your account on a laptop, and going into your account settings (top right drop down, click on 'Account'). It should show you what type of subscription you have, and if it comes via Sky (see picture). If it does state Sky, you'll be getting Discovery+ Standard, which includes all speedway (unless you pay for TNT Sports, then you should get Premium). As for the needing to record stuff, you can re-watch all of the meetings on Discovery+ at your leisure, so it's just as good as having it recorded.1 point
