  1. Think he is getting married the weekend we are at Edinburgh. So I’ve heard.

  2. 100% on this. In the past speedway was my no.1 priority on Friday nights, missed more meetings last 2 seasons than have in the previous 15. And it's all down to not having the constant weekly fix, if I'm finding something else to do with my Friday nights you can bet the casual supporter most definitely has. Sport has to have a long hard think about where it's going because champ in particular has been run into the crapper last 3/4 years. Also having a TV advert running saying speedway every Friday night when there's no match for 3 weeks seems bit daft too!!

  3. He'll fit right in at Glasgow then, we barely have a meeting from one week to the next. Its becoming ever harder to maintain enthusiasm for a sport thats become so infrequent and dragged out over 6 months when it could be done in 3 - 4 including rain offs and play offs.

  4. The crowd for the Plymouth fixture was the worst I have seen for a long time , I know it is the school holiday’s etc but I’m sure the sporadic fixtures have also been a factor. People get out habits very easily and given that there is no speedway more often than there is on a Friday it’s no surprise that crowd levels are dropping significantly.

  5. Pretty poor when one considers Wembley world finals, and yes, I do appreciate times are different. Apart from hating being 76, I am grateful I saw my speedway in the 60’s and 70’s.

  6. In my opinion we’re witnessing the best speedway ever seen on a Glasgow track…… but what could be regular fantastic enjoyment is being totally spoiled by these outrageous sporadic fixtures. It really must be having an effect on attendances and needs to be addressed for next year.

  7. Great effort from track staff and riders and all involved in getting this meeting on. Speedway U K needs the NSS and it is impressive. The aerial views show what a great facility it is.

  8. Talked to few supporters whose enthusiasm is starting to wain unfortunately. This stop and start fixture list fiasco need sorted out for next season. Some are calling it a Mid Term break whenever did that used to happen in the middle of the season.

  9. Evidence if you needed it that our fixture list is killing us. That Plymouth fixture was off the back of 7 weeks without a home Tigers meeting and since then we are in a 3 week gap to the next one. As it is we then only have 2 home fixtures in August. The hardest bit is how to change it, the lack of fixtures has gotten incrementally worse from 2021 and if true that it was only Glasgow and Poole, who for example voted against lowering the points limit, perhaps other clubs in our league are happy with the fixtures this way and will vote accordingly. I don't want or don't see moving to the PL as a solution however I don't think this can continue either. Once upon a time I arranged my holidays around our July away fixtures, now I can barely muster the energy to head to Ashfield on rare Friday nights, but do admit to loving it once I'm actually there.

  10. Why don't they just call it the ''Speedway World Pairs Championship''...

  11. I get what you say about rain and visibility but I also think it shows that when there's a will to get these meetings on there is a way.

  12. Somebody within British Speedway needs to be asking themselves what enables riders to race (really well) in these conditions that doesn't allow them to even start at King's Lynn, and abandon meetings like BV vs Sheffield and Birmingham vs Oxford, Oxford vs Ippo etc etc

  13. 8 heats. Wet track. Great racing. Zero track grading. Ran over half a normal meeting inside 30 minutes. Clear example of how much messing about goes on in regular meetings and how unnecessary it is for the most part.

  14. let’s hope the chief medical officer is not on her period and gets the meeting called off again

  15. Everyone saying that Jason is a terrible replacement for Ace clearly don't understand the team building averages. He hasn't been brought in to replace Ace, he's been brought in to allow Paul Starke to be replaced with a 6 pointer. Looking at Ace's scoring, his last 6 meetings (minus the Scunthorpe meeting) were 3,0,2,1,1,2. Paul Starkes scoring was 4,3,4,4,3,3 The Gamble is can Matic and Jason score more than 5/6 between them? Per meeting, if they can then the gamble pays off. Also with these changes, James Pearson drops to #6 allowing him to take one of Garrads rides if needed and if jack is struggling at 2, take one of his heats too.

  17. The sooner they bring back the 4 or 5 man sides the better. Never seen the appeal in this format, its horrendous.

  18. Glasgow made a huge error pre season signing starke, a rider who all but retired the year prior, they never ever come back .

  19. That was how to run a meeting. Two hours, done deal. Well done to all involved.

  22. I get that the fans don’t like the fact that Ace has left the club BUT that is not Jason’s fault, let him at least turn a wheel at Glasgow before putting him down. At the end of the day Jason is like any rider he just wants to get on the track and race his bike. He has really progressed at Oxford in the NDL, he has gone from being a reserve to being a heat leader, team rider etc. it’s been nice to see how he has progressed give him a couple of meetings to get used to the track and then have your say.

  23. The riders are getting on with it and no messing. How refreshing given what normally prevails in these conditions. Well done all the riders.

  24. Something which is refreshing is riders are coming out before other riders come back in which is something they do at the Isle of Wight and they manage to get 30 heats in, also not a lot of gardening going on

  35. another thing i noticed was not many old age pensioners there. id say most of crowed under 40. years old. it must be a bit weird for Pawlicki riding in front of 15000, Sunday night then going to Birmingham next day.

  36. What are you talking about? Why would Britain take out one of their main two riders for a reserve if they are doing well? A reserve is there to replace a rider who isn't performing as he should, or (hopefully not) gets injured. Simples. If Brennan is replacing Lambert or Bewley then Britain will already be in trouble. Just look at last night. Vicentin came in to replace an underperforming Covatti, and Janowski came in to replace a shaken-up Zmarzlik. You didn't see Sweden bringing in Berntzon for Lindgren or Thorssell.

  37. This is part of the narrative being pushed by the club but the team was complete on Jan the 22nd and the announcement that they were "competing" in the PL was made on the 17th of November.

  39. I am told the FIM are shocked at the ticket sales. One committee member has blamed the failure of the event on the lack of star riders. The SWC used to have the likes of Gollob, Crump, Ward, Nicki, Hancock, Jonsson, Hampel and Andersen. Expect Emil and Artem to be back in next year. The fans want to watch Team Russia!

  40. IMO the longer it takes to announce the fixtures, the harder it is to convince the fans they are important meetings. If they are treated like low ranking events, why would fans be excited to attend?

  41. Neither Starke or Pijper could replace McGurk. Unless it was Jody Scott, I think I'd stick with Sam, don't see Perry scoring much more than him. But Workington could really do with his reserve partner scoring more.

  42. It was merely an observation but why does everyone take it so seriously. As a sport it can entertain but frankly each country has its issue and the UK is not exempt. Someone pointed out that at this level of international speedway something was stupid. At a lower level which can be UK speedway the descriptive term of stupid can also apply. It was simply concurring and as simple as that. WTF is the issue with forum contributors when someone makes a general comment. No wonder the sport is in dire straits, crap promoters and overly sensitive followers.

  45. Really enjoyed both meetings. As expected the usual suspects qualified but the lesser nations put up a fight. Track has been better than expected given the weather! Certainly will be close on saturday , could be a cracker. Track will no doubt be completely different so cant look at the top performers from both nights. Kurtz over holder for the aussies
