  1. Anyone here tonight should qualify for the winter fuel allowance. It's disgustingly cold.

  2. Finding a replacement for Klindt is one thing, but for both him and Musielak would be nigh on impossible at this stage of the season. Hopefully what ever the issues are with Tobi, they can be worked out through commonsense.

  3. Yes they are very weak, but it was the management committee who decided to weaken the league to such an extent, that all clubs have got Development league riders in their teams this season . Sam McGurk is not the only rider struggling. Poole have struggled for a No7. Trigger up until last week hadn’t pulled up too many trees. Berwick's Young reserve is struggling, Edinburgh 's reserves are up and down. The young lad at Glasgow looks out of his depth. In all truth a lot of these boys should not be riding in the championship, all it's doing is draining them of there confidence. Nine times out of ten they only score points off of each other or if a 1-5 rider has an e/f or falls! The management committee voted for it, no doubt to save money. So it is them and not the young lads, fans should be moaning at.

  4. A bit rude and overly aggressive but it's not a duplicate thread, it's a thread with, hopefully now, the correct date (a bit of finger trouble). A polite note would have sufficed. I thought having a thread with the correct date on may just grab people who didn't know it was on to maybe attend and boost the SRBF coffers, I probably shouldn't have bothered.

  6. Brilliant nice bit of practice before SON for him, also Dan who is in sgp2 SON squad. Can't see us getting much from here tbh

  9. Completely disagree. I would say and it is happening more often than not Sheffield are winning bonus point so far in the league, and I would back us to keep this up for the rest of the season. There is one club that I think we have and will struggle with beating over two legs and that is Ipswich, and that is even with or without Jason Doyle.

  10. 100% agree, when the limit is lowered, it's rarely the top riders who miss out (unless they want to) so it's the 4/5/6 points riders who tend to lose their team places, meaning a bigger gap between the top & bottom riders. In an ideal world the top 9 riders in the league should be leaving the Champ, doing Prem & possibly Poland, leaving room for the next group of NDL prospects.

  11. Ahhhh, so you're calling someone out about their source and not delivering your own source as evidence to why they're wrong. For certain you can't say the clubs been run well for the last decade so what 4BM says, stands up quite well within recent history

  15. We've experienced the brutal reality of guests this week....you could make a strong argument that they won us the meeting on Monday and lost us the tie last night. As Rob said no lack of effort but those three guests were never going to match the riders they replaced. I'm convinced we'd have got 41 with a full side but we didn't and good luck to Sheffield against Hawkins and Co in the final.

  18. No thank you. The championship has suffered enough due to other leagues not being able to operate successfully.

  19. Looks like the Championship will have to reduce in strength to provide a platform for these youngsters to establish themselves as the NDL is no longer viable. So perhaps it is not that some of these kids shouldn't be riding in the Championship but that some of the top riders should be moving on up.

  21. Vinnie is good prospect, but this continued weakening of the League does but a lot more pressure for young riders to perform above their average. It is a big step up for these guys. Not many have make a huge impact .

  22. I do agree with you but Celina is in a no win situation here (apart from the meeting). She is being used as an "inclusive" box ticking exercise by the Workington promotion and the FIM when it's suits them. She's nowhere near the same standard as Championship middle order riders but at the same time she is far too good for the other female riders. I've nothing against a lady riders World Championship but it is simply a novelty meeting.

  24. All a bit academic at the moment until Musielak is officially released/Replaced by Lynn. We still don’t know his exact intentions either, maybe he doesn’t want to sign for anyone in the UK for the rest of this season who knows. But yes, he’d be an excellent replacement for Doyle, goes well at Foxhall first and foremost, and also goes well at the two tracks that will likely be our biggest threat in the play offs.

  25. Do you take a chance on Bartek saying yes whilst allowing Musielak to get snapped up elsewhere is the question? Leicester or Oxford would jump at the chance of signing Tobi. Big gamble if you ask me considering Tobi is a track specialist around Sheffield.

  34. For your information i was camping had no electric hook up and a phone that needed charging, not easy in parts of the Cornish countryside, the result wasnt that important so i got my phone charged when it was convinient, whats with the sarky post anyway? Could have just said nothing couldnt you? As for updates ive only been following speedway 56 years so suprisingly i am aware thank you. I dont belong to the generations addicted to the phone.

  35. The unpalatable truth for us fans is that people don’t like speedway. I’ve listed the lengths the Aces have gone to both currently and in the past and I’ve seen first hand the apathy towards the sport when I’m banging the drum with friends, family & colleagues. Our support is literally dying out and something needs to change to make it more appealing. The meeting on Monday was one of the best I’ve seen in over 50 years of watching the sport but you could have it on a loop in the Arndale or wherever and it would make little to no difference to the long term support. It’s a worry, a big worry.

  37. For me, I think the highlight was the 1975 season. John Berry assembled a team of completely local riders - John Louis, Tony Davey, Mike Lanham, Mick Hines, Trevor Jones, Ted Howgego, Dave Gooderham and Billy Sanders, by now fully domiciled in Suffolk. Just those eight riders were used all season and they carried all before them, with Ipswich winning the league for the first time in its history. I can't think there has ever been a team anywhere made up completely of local riders that so completely dominated the league.

  38. From what I’ve heard tonight very much doubt if Musielak will be bask in King’s Lynn colours this season. Seemingly not impressed with the way things are being run compared to his previous UK experiences with Wolverhampton, Swindon and Sheffield. If this turns out to be true then feel for the Stars fans as he’s a helluva entertaining rider and puts the team in a right mess with already needing a full time replacement for Klindt

  43. The solution is available and used by t.v.companies in the states. All NFL games are streamed and available to purchase to watch on the t.v. accept for the city where the game is being played unless the game is a sell out when it then becomes available.

  46. Sorry to hear about your hospital stay; was it painful having your sense of humour amputated? You do realize that a number of sports are appearing to move in that direction, don't you? If you claim to neither be male or female, then obviously, you can't compete as a male or female. As crazy as that sounds, it's going to happen...
    1 point
  47. Or they could have pairs competition with one male and one female and perhaps using a lower standard of male (by this I mean not GP level riders before anyone complains) this might help the female contingent raise their game albeit I see little wrong with the start that has been made and long may it continue

  48. More Memorable Hackney heroes: The late Vic Harding was never going to be world champion, but in many ways he was a typical Hackney recruit - a wholehearted, gutsy little rider with a huge heart, who the fans took to for his cheerfulness and determination. He came in at reserve after three years at Weymouth and soon afterwards got 8 from 3 starts against Swindon, including a win over top Swede Jan Andersson - who he then beat in the Rider of the Night final! Seeing him crash right in front of us, in his fifth outing as he raced for a point that would have seen us pull back a 16 point deficit to win a meaningless 4TT match, was my worst moment in 50 odd years of spectating. The hush that suddenly descended on Waterden Road said it all. And then of course, Barry Thomas. Mr Hackney for so many, and so often worth the price of admission alone for his dashes from the back. He never took it too seriously, and never seemed to have the most reliable of machinery, and in some ways summed up what Hackney was about - we might not win too many trophies but we had plenty of fun racing. His beating the great Ivan Mauger on the final bend when the World Champion was team riding his partner toward the league title is still one of the most memorable races I have seen in over 50 years. Thommo of course was the link between the Hawks and the Kestrels. A new Kestrel was the long blonde haired Andy Galvin - one of Thommo’s Iwade lads. A legend, fast and not to be messed with! Entered Hackney folk lore when the story goes that, told we needed a 5-0 in the last heat to win the meeting, he obliged by knocking off both his opponents! Remembered for team-riding his rookie partner Chris Louis to many a 5-1 in 1988. Mark Loram went from Hackney mascot to World Champion, with an all too brief period at Waterden Road. Right from day one, the lad was so exciting, a natural. After starting out as a 16 year old in Hackney’s less than successful sojourn in the top flight in 1987, he developed into a top National League performer as the Kestrels swept all before them to win the National League. After Mark and Moggo sadly departed as the promoters took on Ipswich, we signed Steve Schofield. When the pocket marvel arrived from Poole, he admitted Waterden Road wasn’t one of his favourite tracks. Within weeks he was well nigh unbeatable around it, ending his first campaign with eight successive home full maximums. A superb little racer, a delight to watch as, when he did miss the gate, the opposition didn’t know whether he would dive up their inside or roar around the outside. Hackney may not have won much silverware, but they certainly had some entertainers.
