no rush for silverware out first year in the league Och it’s sport back the wee riders6 points

Yes the reserves are a weakness, but as been said who is available to replace them ? The comets have only just returned to the championship, imo this is a year to find our feet and be competitive, which we are doing at home, away slightly different, but we have speedway back enjoy the journey and in future we may have a more balanced side with reserves who can score some points, remember the comets did not get accepted to the league till mid November, all other teams already had their sides sorted, so comets got shafted by Godfrey and Co5 points

Yes they are very weak, but it was the management committee who decided to weaken the league to such an extent, that all clubs have got Development league riders in their teams this season . Sam McGurk is not the only rider struggling. Poole have struggled for a No7. Trigger up until last week hadn’t pulled up too many trees. Berwick's Young reserve is struggling, Edinburgh 's reserves are up and down. The young lad at Glasgow looks out of his depth. In all truth a lot of these boys should not be riding in the championship, all it's doing is draining them of there confidence. Nine times out of ten they only score points off of each other or if a 1-5 rider has an e/f or falls! The management committee voted for it, no doubt to save money. So it is them and not the young lads, fans should be moaning at.3 points

Didn’t watch the stream last night, mainly due to the fact I pretty much seen what was coming. Reserves are what’s costing us and will only continue costing us valuable points if changes aren’t made. There’s so much added pressure onto Sam due to the fact his reserve partner is well below par. Was all for giving her a chance but nothings changing. Getting rid of Sam isn’t the right decision, he’s young and learning. Getting rid of Celina and finding someone who can actually score points and take the pressure off Sam, is the right decision.3 points

A bit of a let down as a meeting. I arrived at the car park. The moment I got out of the car it was like opening the oven door to check on my roast potatoes, so I was sure then that it was going to be dry and dusty, and so it proved. From the opening heat, a lot of the riders looked more interested in preserving their own lives rather than racing for points - and who could blame them. The first time they came round bend 4 it looked like they were all going to hit the fence coming out of the bend. From then on a lot of riders clearly showed little effort once at the back. This carried on for many processional races, until about 3 or 4 to go where there was actually a few semi-decent races. It's a shame. I was looking forward to seeing Workington, and had told my son to watch out for Tate Zischke. "He's a star of the future," I said. "Watch him go" I said. "That means he'll be rubbish," he said. Oh, how he gloated at my rubbish speedway predictions.3 points

Just for the record Steve, Mulford was beaten by Hagon in heat 93 points

Not really a shock , it's up there as one of the worst tracks in the UK imo considering it's history of attracting some of the worlds best riders. Its obviously the over the top wages they must pay out.3 points

Vinnie is good prospect, but this continued weakening of the League does but a lot more pressure for young riders to perform above their average. It is a big step up for these guys. Not many have make a huge impact .2 points

Good job your not a team manager then. He was doing fine last night untill he picked up some unwanted grip . Nothing more nothing less. In his first meeting with us he was trying far to hard and over riding . He clearly has abillity but he's just been unlucky . He's a likeable down to earth lad, but we will have to see what both Matt and Dan are prepared to do in the short term2 points
-
He does have a tendency to ride a tight inside line most of the time which is a dodgy style on patchy tracks. IMO He got away with it at Glasgow because track conditions suited his style.Wish him well though and hope he has a speedy recovery.2 points

Fingers crossed we get a good meeting here. Harris and Worrall are a powerhouse top 2, could be a good even fight elsewhere in the line ups however...2 points

Just going by what they've said about Covatti, Kurtz & Museilak recently. If Tobi keeps racing in Poland then they can't carry on giving us facilities, that'd be daft. Bit different with Klindt as his season is over full stop but there are riders around and after a certain time we should be made to sign one IMO. Guests and R/R need to be kept to a minimum.2 points

Oxford probably would have won at Foxhall earlier in the season when Tungate didn’t fancy it (sorry I mean was stuck in traffic) and Oxford had to run with 6 riders. We won by 6 in the end, with Oxford only having one representative in four heats. Lots of anomalies there though. Nicholls guesting FOR Oxford, not for us. But then Doyle was riding and we were at full strength. Harris and Janowski unbelievably scored seven between them! That won’t happen again. Harris far better at Foxhall than his score of 4, and Janowski is now riding far better than his score of three that evening. Does that mean anything regarding tonight’s meeting? No, not really. Which means all I’ve just typed was a waste of time and a load of old guff really2 points

Don't think you are allowed to bring someone back if they have been dropped, except for returning from injury2 points

I know it wasn't the NDLRC, even if the referee said to me it was, I'd tell him he's wrong. Trying to remember the last time a 3.00 NL reserve 2 matches into his career qualified for the NDLRC The biggest hint that it wasn't the NDLRC, is the long discussion forum users have been having about it. I cannot remember a single season from 94-23 where there was ever a question of "is this the league riders championship"2 points

Excellent meeting tonight on a very good track with no dust until the final couple of heats. Extremely well watered with plenty of dirt made for a trick first few heats but after about heat 4 the track produced some very good races. A special mention for a couple of riders who were quite excellent. Vinnie Foord who really should have captured third place but dropped points in a nasty fall with a do or die swoop in his last down the back straight. He flipped and went cartwheeling into the fence and was lucky to walk away. Some of his passing was excellent and if he could gate we would have a very good up and coming young rider. Also worthy of a mention is Sonny Springer, the youngest rider on show tonight. He had never ridden the track before but he won his last two races and looked fast and stylish. A rider to look out for. The meeting went down to a runoff between Jake Mulford who had been excellent tonight, and only beaten by Foord, as was Sam Hagon who also only dropped a point to Foord. But the runoff was decided down the back straight of lap one when Hagon got his head in front and after that it was never in doubt. The U21 British Champ can now add the NLRC title to his honors. Well done to Mulford for a battling performance. A good nights entertainment.2 points

Workington good top5 but the weakest reserve pairing in the league will be there undoing.2 points

This is all about transparency and consistency for me... because the SCB were so quick to jump on Plymouth with the Nico Covatti situation, they then, surely, had to (be seen) to apply the same rules (and sanctions) to Musielak and Kurtz... I'm not entirely sure this has happened. Because British Speedway likes to think it operates in its own bubble they have to word their statements so carefully that they end up making no sense. If a rider had aggravated an injury abroad, say so, it happens, if foreign clubs are persuading riders to miss matches over here, call them out and say so.2 points

BRITISH SPEEDWAY AGM STATEMENT THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 17, 2022 And a significant development is a tie-up between the BSPL and MYLAPS which will see transponders rolled out to all Premiership and Championship clubs during the 2023 season. This technology will provide accurate information for live timing, and assist in resolving close finishes, and will also be made available to Eurosport and the British Speedway Network for use during their broadcasts. We're now in the 2nd half of 2024 and it appears that not all tracks are using them... although Picko had just indicated they are being used.1 point

Celina can certainly ride the bike it's her gating it's terrible she goes up rather than forward most races. Then keeps pace generally with the others. Sam has no confidence no point carrying him give someone else a go.1 point

From Glasgow FB page…. 1. Harris 2. Starke 3. Flint 4. Pearson 5. Worrall 6. Smith 7. Pijper Bit of rain in the forecast tonight and showers for some of tomorrow, but the sun should be out in time for Tapes up.1 point

They'll have to sign somebody eventually, facilities aren't indefinite. I'd be shocked if Tobi isn't back anyway, assuming he stays fit.1 point

It was a disappointing meeting last night, and casual fans attending last night probably thought it was a joke that it was 1st vs 2nd in the league with our performance. Cookie proved that he is a master of throttle control, had the bike working perfectly on bends 3/4 but none of our other riders could adapt. Nothing lost though, the bonus point was never going to be achievable. Oxford are a very strong team at home. As for changes at reserve, it’s a must now. Sam’s confidence must be shot, he’s not even banging in scores in a weak NDL to keep something going. Last night Sam rode like it was his first time on a bike, that might sound harsh with difficult track conditions, but this is professional speedway now not NDL. Can’t believe I’m saying this but there’s a better 2 point rider working in the Comets pits! From what I saw of him guesting at Redcar he’s slowly improving and could fill a gap until the end of the season. I don’t think signing Jody Scott is realistic, but would like to be proved wrong. Probably not a lot of options for a 4 point reserve, but still think Celina has something to give especially at home1 point

AGREE with all these postsers . poor track . wont say the best team won . more like the team that had ridden ther more and were used to the track conditions . dont think i will ever buy a stream from Oxford again . i like how the promotion wasted 10 mins walking around beads 1/2/3/4 . with the riders NOT .. why do they light the B.B.Q. after every race ? it does jack all to the entertainment value . not the best value stream . has a long way to go to beat BSN .1 point

Moved down to save money which proves exactly what I said, they paid riders over the top wages in the past. Anyway not a great advert for speedway all round.1 point

Reserves failed yet again for Workington changes have to be made, look at Poole doing well but ruthless when it comes to replacing riders. Comets rightly so stuck with the team in the NDL last year but this is different Sam has to be dropped he is riding terrible and looks the worst rider in the league. Junior riders coming in and beating him easily. Celina to not been good enough her 4pt average must have dropped alarmingly and won't go back up. If Workington had just one half decent reserve they were in for a shout this season but not with these two.1 point

It was 1990, I used to have those moments on an old edition of Crashes and Cockups. Saunders' crash was one of the worst I've ever seen, his bike seemed to pick up speed as it hit the safety fence with him caught up in the bike and then it slammed him into the outer wall of the stock car track. Awful.1 point

You had a look at this thread to find the score?! Have you never heard of Live Updates? Organised and run by the fans, for the fans, it's only been going for 20 years ...1 point

Right now it would seem that the junior league is the only stepping stone between the training track and our Championship side. Whether thats too big a step is certainly a fair question and an NDL side would certainly be one way to bridge it. However it may be costly and may also be an obstacle to rearranging Championship fixtures.1 point

I don't like RR,but in this situation with only a couple of riders available to us i would.Rather have Brennan,Basso,Kvech and Iversen taking an extra ride rather than having Worrall.Even Wojdylo could take an RR if he is on it.You never know we may have R.Lambert signed up before next week anyway1 point

Eh? He was a SPEEDWAY rider. Committed s crime and was released on license. Was back riding SPEEDWAY at Scunthorpe in amateur meetings. How is that not relevant to a SPEEDWAY discussion?1 point

The Wolves promotion are far too shrewd to start shouting from the rooftop about a site being found before they know there's a realistic chance they can get it - though they've pretty much said it wont be in the Wolverhampton borough. However, I think it's clear that 2025 is a no go unless something changes very quickly.1 point
