That's a bit harsh. I'm not exactly a Roynan fan, or think he was a good replacement, but he's only trying to ride a speedway bike to make a living. And I'm sure he'll do a better job than me or any other poster on this forum.4 points

Am I the only one who thinks this is a real shame if true? I was one of those who thought no thanks to riding at my club and he shouldn’t be allowed back near the sport but I watched his interview and thought he showed genuine remorse and wanted to put it behind him and be a better person, from that point I thought everyone deserves a second chance but maybe I’m just gullible.4 points

Heat 01: Harris, Sayfutdinov, Riss, Łaguta Heat 10: Harris, King, Rew, Łaguta He couldn't even beat Riss and Rew on his home track last year...3 points

Excellent meeting tonight on a very good track with no dust until the final couple of heats. Extremely well watered with plenty of dirt made for a trick first few heats but after about heat 4 the track produced some very good races. A special mention for a couple of riders who were quite excellent. Vinnie Foord who really should have captured third place but dropped points in a nasty fall with a do or die swoop in his last down the back straight. He flipped and went cartwheeling into the fence and was lucky to walk away. Some of his passing was excellent and if he could gate we would have a very good up and coming young rider. Also worthy of a mention is Sonny Springer, the youngest rider on show tonight. He had never ridden the track before but he won his last two races and looked fast and stylish. A rider to look out for. The meeting went down to a runoff between Jake Mulford who had been excellent tonight, and only beaten by Foord, as was Sam Hagon who also only dropped a point to Foord. But the runoff was decided down the back straight of lap one when Hagon got his head in front and after that it was never in doubt. The U21 British Champ can now add the NLRC title to his honors. Well done to Mulford for a battling performance. A good nights entertainment.2 points

Not really a shock , it's up there as one of the worst tracks in the UK imo considering it's history of attracting some of the worlds best riders. Its obviously the over the top wages they must pay out.2 points

poor show from Poole not to have a couple of local track reserves available. Denying a young kid some laps.2 points

Right now it would seem that the junior league is the only stepping stone between the training track and our Championship side. Whether thats too big a step is certainly a fair question and an NDL side would certainly be one way to bridge it. However it may be costly and may also be an obstacle to rearranging Championship fixtures.2 points

100% agree that the live experience can't be bettered... I remember vividly taking my kids to their first meeting a few years ago and their faces were a picture as 4 riders hurtled towards the 1st bend showing no signs of giving an inch - That first experience has obviously stayed with them, because even as teenagers, I say I'm going to speedway and who wants to come and generally they are keen. If I ask if anyone is joining me to watch speedway on BSN or eurosport, then I know the answer already... they are not at all interested. So live will always reign supreme, but promoters have got to find new ways of applying the 'hook' in the first place.2 points

My memory goes back to 1985. We had lost Billy in April which ripped the heart out of the club. Kai niemi returned and we were due to face the mighty cradley heath but we were going to be missing John cook I believe for a compulsory trip home. John berry hated using guests so we actually used double rider replacement!!! Not only that but we beat cradley too. it’s the only time I witnessed double rider replacement but it was a incredible performance from the witches after so much adversity.2 points

More fool those who don't turn up to see NDL NJL, U21s etc. There's plenty of young talented lads out there who just need tracktime. I'll put my head above the parapet and say if the British U21 final was at Oxford the crowd would be 1K plus. Admittedly Oxford have a lot of speedway starved fans within a 50 mile radius. But I reckon there's a fair few CL clubs who'd like our crowds at NDL level.2 points

For the money Lindgren is being paid, he should be winning heats 1,13 and 15. Artem Laguta wouldn't let 2nd rate riders like Tungate beat him.2 points

It is totally relevant He was looking to return to the sport, putting out PR that he had learnt his lesson and deserved a second chance Whether he is at liberty to take up a team spot is a key factor in the story2 points

Eh? He was a SPEEDWAY rider. Committed s crime and was released on license. Was back riding SPEEDWAY at Scunthorpe in amateur meetings. How is that not relevant to a SPEEDWAY discussion?2 points

Given the injuries to Doyle it really isn't in his interests to not be fit given the SON is at his home track that he flies around. Surely he would have been a must over LIdsey for spot 3 until he was injured.1 point

You're making it sound like Garrity is the victim! I was all for giving him a 2nd chance... but he blew it before he even got a team spot anywhere, unbelievable.1 point

When I wrote my small booklet on Briggs and Moore, I spoke to a number of Wimbledon riders about this very subject. Their view was unanimous. Moore was the greatest; Briggs treated them like one of the opposition! This is what Bob Andrews said (and it is fairly typical of them all): "...he {Ronnie] knew I could gate. He said "get to the first bend first, and leave a gap at about a foot from the line, if I need to I will come through." Bob said that's how they got a lot of 5-1s. He went on to say, "I then had a season riding with Barry - oh my God! I would gate, then leave a foot of room in case he wanted to come through. Usually, by the next bend, he would not just come through, but he would hang me on the fence. Briggs was a selfish rider."1 point

"Technical tracks", when well prepared, are a bit of a "Freddie Special"... He enters the bends quicker than most, and can manoeuvre the bike to find the traction needed to pass those in front.. No point having someone with his skillset there if a slick dust bowl is all that gets provided..1 point

Due to the way the sport is ran, there is no tribal feeling of "I must go" that you get with other team sports.. As, for a great many, the racing is the reason to be there, rather than the importance of the result.. Hence, many can comfortably stay away and watch it on the TV, and see it as a chance to "save a few quid", but still watch the racing.. As an example, Tungate's score the other night for KL could actually assist KL prevent his own team from making the play offs... If that happens, then Oxford would then be asking a lot of their "big" crowds to return next year in the same numbers I would suggest .. TV crowds show that fans, in the main, don't take it "too seriously" hence when they get a chance to see it without forking out any more cash than their TV subscription, then they do.. Promoters cannot complain about that as they set the operating model...1 point

Can't knock Freddie based on Monday's performance...it was his first race on the track and the track was not conducive for 'passing' (as usual...) B'ham are not getting the basics right!1 point

Yes if Atkins fit after 28 days then he will have only rode at Redcar. After tomorrow Cheetahs don’t ride again until July 20 unless something is rearranged.1 point

Got my ticket for tomorrow - much as I resent having to buy it a day in advance. It's Championship speedway, not Taylor Swift, for God's sake! Weather forecast is dry and sunny, which is a bit of a concern as that normally means a rain-off at O*ford! C'mon the Batch!!! Go Celina Go!! Girl Power!! Good grief, that's far too much speedway enthusiasm for one day.1 point

Didn't Sophia Floersch, the top female racer, opt out of, and speak out against, the female series saying it undermined the effort women currently make to compete against men? I'm sure I remember reading that a while back.1 point

Hardly a novelty meeting ! The FIM for 2 days in Teterow held a Women’s academy with tuition from Greg Hancock. Ok there was only 11 riders of the required standard to take part in the Gold Trophy but iis it’s 1st year, so hopefully 16 riders will take part in 2025.1 point

There’s a very long list…but they’ll have everyone believing riders get injured because ok UK tracks.1 point

That it clashes with Oxford v Workington If it really was the NDLRC Luke Killeen would be in it and the Cheetahs using a guest. But it isn't and Killeen is riding for Oxford, not in some jumped up open junior meeting.1 point

I like football, I pay money to my club, Bristol City, to listen and watch the streams officially available to me helping put money into my team. I do exactly the same with the excellent service BSN provide for us, I pay my money firstly to watch and secondly to pay for the work they do for us and the sport. Shame on anybody who gets by this on the cheap when the sport needs help.1 point
