Kurtz not riding at Sheffield, has to get the same ban as Musielak. Writing on Facebook, Kurtz said: “I have a lot of damage to my right lateral ankle ligaments. An MRI scan showed a grade 3/3 tear to one, grade 2/3 tear in another and grade 1/3 to the last. “My absence right now is because I’m currently unable to walk on it, and if my ankle was to take any more damage in its current condition, surgery will be required to repair it. “The recovery from that surgery would most likely end my season. My focus now is recovery and getting myself in a position to return to racing, but also when I know it will be safe to do so.” No mention of how he was able to ride in Poland.5 points

Kurtz took his 4 rides for Rybnik at the weekend, he was replaced by a reserve in Ht15 when result was over and league and bonus point won, lots of teams do that in Poland to give a Number 8/16 a ride (or extra ride) when nothing wrong with the rider at all, Lublin done it a few times with Zmarzlik already this season. We all know it’s Rybnik pulling Kurtz’s strings so he doesn’t go against his contract over there and loose out financially (can you blame him with what he get there to UK?), he’ll ride when Rybnik want him to do simple as with Sweden and UK just taking it. Until a each and every rider gets a ban for such things then UK will still remain a mockery of a league3 points

It also looked to me like the bottom tape had come undone and I think they were attracting the track staff to do something about it before the riders came round after the first lap. The camera clearly showed a member of the track staff holding up the end of the tape for the rest of the race, I wonder how he reached it without going onto the track, perhaps he has long arms.3 points

You are absolutely right and I apologise for my shocking error. Incomprehensible and unforgivable. I blame the time difference from NZ but that’s no excuse. I will now stand in a corner, facing the wall, shamed and corrected. But technically, I was right as he didn’t ride at Sheffield yesterday….3 points

Eh? He was a SPEEDWAY rider. Committed s crime and was released on license. Was back riding SPEEDWAY at Scunthorpe in amateur meetings. How is that not relevant to a SPEEDWAY discussion?2 points

Kurtz was pulled out of Ht15 after doing 4 rides. Meeting points were sewn up and was an opportunity to give the Rybnik reserves or number 8/16 a (extra) ride in the meeting. Don’t people try the he pulled out of his last ride like it meant something, simply Rybnik pulling Kurtz’s strings. If SCB have any consistency he should get 28 days UK ban2 points

The Wolves promotion are far too shrewd to start shouting from the rooftop about a site being found before they know there's a realistic chance they can get it - though they've pretty much said it wont be in the Wolverhampton borough. However, I think it's clear that 2025 is a no go unless something changes very quickly.2 points

Had me continental breakfast in the b&b and will be avin a celebration flat white mid morning before the return trip home on the train. Oh wot a night, yep I'm still buzzin' from last night. Av always enjoyed my visits to Cowley and it's a credit to the whole set up that the speedway is back. See all you Cheetahs at WINborne Road in August2 points

Same riders - not same event. Big difference. One has been staged every year since 1994 (bar 2000 and 2001) in one form or another and carries some cachet with former winners such as Tai Woffinden and Dan Bewley. The other is a completely new and unheralded series, and this is only one event of said series.2 points

It's like the start of a new season since it seems ages ago since we raced at home . But it is the return of the Bandits and assorted guests as the Bandits keep the NHS overstretched . We should be along normal lines though no Claus Vissing this time , while god only knows who'll be in the Bandits line up . So let's have no anti-speedway weather on Friday please1 point

As piss poor as the Lions were, I’m not sure what the options are for replacements. As has been said on this thread, only Lawson can hold his head up. The Wolves riders have been a bitter disappointment, considering two of them were Lions previously. Even if (and that’s a big if) they could scrape into the play offs, the only teams that they have the slightest chance of beating over two legs, will not be in the play offs!1 point

Birmingham with no Freddie put up a better fight at Sheffield than Belle Vue, not good travellers.1 point

Either way he pulled out of his last ride and didn't ride in Sweden this week. Let's see if he gets a ban, but it's still different from TM. Opinion wise I don't blame any rider for putting Poland first, they simply have no choice.1 point

I hear discovery have launched a new competition for the speedway of nations that you can participate in from your home infront of your tv, it’s called spot the freeloader in the pits, I have been playing this game for a few years now, you always get the usual suspects but the SON promises to be something special as nobody can afford to pay to get in at those prices1 point

The track was nice and smooth, and consistent, and as you say "with some good racing", yet the track was a "dump" Which one was it1 point

Always thought it was a shame, especially in the era when there was no World Cup or Pairs (SON), that Lindback never declared for Brazil.1 point

Had a couple of trips there in the 80s as a kid. And of all the away visits, I have to say - as a kid - the area always felt like a bit of a rough and ready place. Much more so than other tracks. I went back there to the same area many years later with the intents to shoot a video of inner city kids doing Olympic sports as a legacy piece. The reality was it was very different, very gentrified and difficult to find the grit and grime I was looking for! The kids too were annoyingly brilliantly articulate....not the poor urchins we had planned on! In a roundabout way, what I am saying is, when an area gets the "regeneration" treatment, then speedway's days in that area are numbered. It's difficult to pick out exactly where it was now, I know Waterden Road is still there, but as I understand it, the roads have also changed. Is the Copper Box now sited on the old Hackney Stadium footprint?1 point

Good meeting and good result considering our guest didnt trouble the scorers. Vinnie tries but alas not much to show for his efforts. Unlucky in heat 14, obviously Boughen prefers to ride on his own as he would never had won the race otherwise.Superheat was strange, first running there should have been an exclusion but alas the ref bottled it just because the cameras were present and Masters dived, Nicholls would never have come off after such minimal contact.1 point

The fastest line for a few weeks now has literally been an inch from the fence, more so on turns 3 and 4. Whilst this has produced a few great heats, it's an accident waiting to happen, especially at Championship level with more inexperienced riders on track. The Heeps crash could so easily have been worse with his bike running loose. Boughen bounced off the fence a few weeks ago but got away with it.1 point

Its due to only racing each team once home and away . If we're only going with nine teams then forget the BSN thing and go with two home and away league meetings . We could be racing every week then .1 point

Osborne should be done for fraud he has taken a sporting venue with a covenant on and turned it in to a housing development, as for Swindon council they have allowed it to happen and in many instances basically rubber stamped it.1 point

And why does every time there is a TV meeting people come on here and go on and on about crowd size. for the past 20 years crowd sizes when on tv are smaller than the average crowd. Always as been. Always will be unless they do some sort of deal for TV meetings. Why do you all act shocked1 point
