  1. And why does every time there is a TV meeting people come on here and go on and on about crowd size. for the past 20 years crowd sizes when on tv are smaller than the average crowd. Always as been. Always will be unless they do some sort of deal for TV meetings. Why do you all act shocked

  2. It does take the edge of the season for fans .2-3 weeks without a meeting then another gap in another couple of weeks in the height of summer.! Not good planning IMO

  3. I decided to pop over to watch this meeting tonight to get my Speedway fix. Have to say very disappointed with Oxford(Not Janowski),but never really put up much of a fight,in fact a Feeble effort for a side who sit in 4th place, and King's Lynn didn't have to do a lot to win the meeting. Surprised at the Small Crowd, but I suppose with Eurosport covering it made some stay at home. Kvech went well, we will see how long that lasts, but early signs tonight are good. Anders Rowe is really impressing me at the moment, looks fast and tries to Team Ride all the time. Basso weighed in with good points as well. Good win for Lynn, plus the Bonus Point, which helps them in catching the Brummies for 6th Place. If they get the Musielak situation sorted, then they have a strong 1-7 who could certainly go on a run of good results and who knows where they could finish. Enjoyable evening, well done the Stars, dissappointing from the Spires.

  4. Would have said it's due to us not making the semis in either the BSN or the KO Cup but these ties haven't been raced yet. Indeed I don't think the dates have even been agreed. May be the full KO Cup draw - like the tennis at Wimbledon where the path to the final is known - should be made ahead of the league fixtures being drawn up and integrated into them.

  7. Great win for the Stars some good racing as well - Jan Kvech looks a useful signing on a 6 average great debut - Basso and Wojdylo need splitting up though both seem to get in each others way both wanting the same line - good all round performance and a great win .

  8. Kerr Riss and being well under the limit leaves plenty of room for improvement, alongside only just winning at home, no chance of any bonus points. If we are serious about trying to finish in the play offs, changes needed fast. Or are we happy to just see the season out and see if running 3 teams is viable?

  9. Glasgow gave the same discount after their meeting with Berwick which also got abandoned after heat six. While this is in line with the standard BSPL terms and conditions, it's derisory and badly needs updating/ upgrading.

  10. From a PR point of view, the £4 refund is probably the first 'mis-step' by the Oxford promotion since the return of speedway to Cowley. I think most Oxford fans, and indeed visiting supporters, would agree that running not 1, not 2, but 3 racing teams deserves enormous credit. Speedway at Oxford is presented with great enthusiasm and professionalism, and this is appreciated by the fans. But I have to say when I read my email about the refund my immediate thought was "This won't go down well".

  11. Details of Cardiff Sprint released. Friday 16th August at 3pm. Maximum of 3000 punters allowed. GP Ticket holders only admitted but the robing barstewards also state that a purchase of the GP programme must also. be made, however very generously they say one programme between 2 people is acceptable !!! when i last went to Cardiff the programmes were £10 so it wouldn’t surprise me if they were now nearer £15.

  12. Well my opinion for what it's worth, when Tobias is back, this team is going to be a spoiler regarding the play offs. Not sure they can make the top 4 but definitely going to affect the ones that are. Especially with those 2 reserves.

  13. Could never understand why Klindt was dropped so early (he was coming back from a very serious injury) - a far better rider than his replacement -

  14. Definitely down because of being on TV,always is.There is normally 6/7 of us go each week, yesterday there was only 2.

  16. I had the great honour of seeing Bjorn destroy the opposition week after week at West Ham in 1964. He was immaculate. However, over the period you mention, I would have to say that Ove was the dominant force, not just over Bjorn, but over every other rider. Now off to check the record books to see if they confirm my memory of those times.

  17. Doubt the league are too bothered about it. You need to be at every meeting covered by a season ticket to come out marginally ahead, so its a minor benefit but one that doesn't happen every year.

  22. Excellent from Magic, massive improvement, the Ox would have been swamped without his contribution. Some good racing, and more entertaining than watching the Euros game for me.

  23. Musielak is definitely coming back, hopefully Stars win their appeal and get the 2 points back! I think they’ll have a good chance of finishing 4th then, but it will still be tricky

  24. that won't happen Peter is a friend of the Riss family (he even said so) so i think his judgement is clouded

  25. Possibly the Peterborough of last season - however wouldnt it be nice (for stars fans) if they could just for once get it right from the beginning of the season! if they hadnt had 2 points taken off and won their home match in hand they would be off the bottom and likely pushing for the last plsyoff spot! They do look decent at home - although with Tobias out for 28 days one wonders if he will return! I hope so as he is a decent rider. As for the crowd or lack of I rather suspect no one is suprised but as someone else says it just seems sad to see a decent match on TV in front of what appears to be a rather sparsely attended meeting, altho i reckon it was maybe about 1000.

  29. So when is Jan Kvech signing for Glasgow?

  30. Lack of research from Tatum really does irritate me. Don't think he mentioned that Magic was returning to a track he'd ridden before but was happy to wax lyrical about Riss getting to the finals of a complete different discipline - several times! He does have a soft spot for young Erik! Didn't know Kvech had ridden in the UK before, they can't even read numbers on the back of kevlars to know who is in a race. It isn't hard to do a bit of prep for one meet a fortnight even in a busy GP month. Everyone seems to be going on well, no matter how poor they've been riding. As for the coverage, isn't Brando in the production office? Surely he's been around the sport long enough to know what works and doesn't.

  31. I have been to all King’s Lynn home meetings this season so far and the crowds have been amazing!! I think this meeting being on TV is the reason why the crowd was less
    1 point
  32. You know Lynn's crowds ain't great, and it's on TV.. Don't you have anything positive to say about anything from the meeting? Dear oh dear.... Didn't you know there was a free orgy for over 50's just up the road, with free beer, knee braces, and shackles, and if you took both parents, they would get a free leg up onto the bed thrown in too.? It was banging.. I enjoyed myself Well done to the Stars without their number one. Jan had a good first meeting, and it was good to see Magic going well (as long as we won), i admit i have a soft spot for him since his little Stars stint. Track looked really smooth, and safe. Hope we can get Toby back some time.

  33. Well done to the Stars. A hard fought meeting and hopefully the supporters are pleased despite all the uncertainty. A few more wins and the Stars will climb the table.

  35. Who knows what the ref was doing. Not a lot of atmosphere as far as fans are concerned and those that ride on Poland must wonder why they bother with the UK when you look at the sparse attendance when compared to the Polish scene. If only a UK broadcaster would show Polish league matches, it might encourage more u k onlookers to go to a league match in this country which might help build numbers through the turnstiles
    1 point
  36. but the ref didn't exclude him. He is the only one who can, not the commentary team!

  37. Thank you for saying what I was trying to say in my various posts. And to reiterate I also don't agree with the idea of team managers asking riders to lose a place.

  42. Well I am woke. As are most decent people. It means being aware, especially of social problems such as racism and inequality, injustice, sexism, and denial of LGBT rights. If you don’t agree with that you are a not a very nice person, to put it mildly.

  43. Zmarzlik has great talent but all this talk of greatest of all time etc is rubbish. Compare to the likes of Rickardsson, Crump etc when they had constant opposition against each other plus like of Pedersen, Hancock, Adams, Gollob etc completely different.

  44. Doing a piece on my favourites from the old Belle Vue and 'Manny' was one of my favourites, heard a lot of people point to a crash at Middlesborough in 1996 when he crashed into the fence and that began the start of the downturn. As many feel that crash saw him lose his nerve and never looked the same again.

  45. I prefer the notion that the team manager knows the score and either the team manager didn't didn't tell him to lose a 5-1 or Pickering ignored him.

  46. The ones who are confused are the BSPL and Poole! Yes it appears that the name of Poole’s meeting is now being changed to make it sound like the Development Series and not the NLRC. But that’s not what they announced! How can the fans be expected to willingly attend a meeting and part their money when the authorities can’t even tell us conclusively what the meeting is for
    1 point
  47. 1 point
  48. Where else do you want Poole to hold the Poole round? Poole will presumably choose 4 southern riders as the wild cards, When Leicester stage their round, they'll probably pick 4 Leicester riders as wildcards, when Redcar stage their round they'll pick 4 Northern Middlesbrough riders as the wildcards, and the same at any other rounds.

  49. He wants oxford to do badly, that is clear. He wants to be proved correct however detrimental that is to Oxford. What Oxford have done , running 3 teams is very brave and should be applauded. I have been to Sandy Lane many times going back to Todd Wiltshire, Hans Neilsen etc and have seen many great meetings at that track and hope to see many more.
