  1. I would take Phil Mickelson before Laguta and I doubt he's anywhere near the top 22

  2. absolutely no problem with the format or venue....try stopping to find fault with something that is a credit to British speedway.

  3. its funny because I came away from last nights meeting thinking we had a good balance of British riders right now...some really promising youngsters and also some "seniors" for them to learn off......when you think of some of the doom and gloom around the sport, thought last night was quite refreshing.

  4. What's the point of having a National Speedway Staduim not used for National Events Especially on TV which produces top Racing not gate & go boring stuff by the the way bewley was beaten 3 times last night and if was a normal 20 heat meeting brennan would have won the title and they wouldn't have been much moaning about home advantage then woffinden had home advantage at wolves for his 3 titles then did he ?? best rider wins on the night simple

  5. I'm sure Glasgow or Workington would disagree.

  6. Sadly this will go down as my dad's last meeting (well over 1500 home meetings at Owlerton) as he passed away suddenly in the early hours of today. He first went as a 17 year old in 1960,the track record was about 72 seconds,he got to see Jack go round in 58.92 aged 81. He was still watching racing from Poland last evening on TV,first Jack's Polish team then when that got curtailed,we ended up watching big brother Chris and Tobi! It pleased him to see Kyle back on form,he liked riders like Kyle, the mainstay of league speedway riders down the years, but his absolute favorite rider was Jim Airey.

  9. Birmingham fans must be bewildered by watching pawlicki in Poland, likewise Wrocław fans must be bewildered by watching woffinden in England

  11. Is there really much in the “ home track advantage “ thing ? Speedway is such a fickle sport depended on so many unforseeable and unquantifiable factors that I would have thought that the higher up the order you get the more you should be capable of riding anywhere especially if you aspire to becoming a champion. There used to be a Swedish rider you may vaguely remember, Norbold, a chap by the name of Fundin. His famous comment was “ I want someone to build me a bike to get me to the first bend first, then I’ll do the rest “ . Surely the sign of a true champion is that as long as he has a decent bike he can “ do the rest “? I thought it was a pretty decent meeting last night. Incredible to think that under the old 20 heat formula Tom Brennan would be British Campion now. I

  12. I'd be amazed if Bomber let anyone win, anywhere, any day of the week. And especially as it was very apparent that he felt cheated of a (final?) Cardiff appearance after the British Final rain off 2 years ago. And the fans clearly wanted to see him at Cardiff again, as he received the biggest cheer before the start when he was paraded as one the previous winners.

  15. I’ve seen enough this season now to predict a Lublin vs Gorzow final.

  16. He has really moved up a level this season, it is refreshing that he has upped his potential that we all knew he had. Well done Tom couldn’t have happened to a nicer young man , he is sorely missed at Glasgow but last season the travelling was taking it’s toll.

  20. There’s not another premiership track I’d want the meeting at, quite often when I see meetings at different tracks on tv I think I couldn’t watch this every week, Belle Vue is still the best place to host it as chances are you’re going to get a decent meeting there. The ‘home advantage’ element of it you’d get at any track, it’s unavoidable.

  21. If this pans out I for one will be pretty pleased with that, can’t be compared to Doyle on these shores very few can but I think once he’s found the set up he’ll do well at ipswich, decent style for turning the bike and more technical tracks, never knows when he’s beat and doesn’t heavily rely on gating

  22. Imagine if it was held at Sheffield every season with Tai riding there, or Lambert at King's Lynn, or even Scott Nicholls at Ipswich. Belle Vue fans would start a riot!

  24. Looked like Bewley rode close to Wright's left leg out of frustration as they slowed down. Don't think there was anything wrong with the race, was hard but fair

  25. Delighted for Leon Flint who has qualified for this years SGP2 series after he came through his qualifying round in Macon France last night as I know it was high on his list of achievements for this season. The first of the three finals will be held at Malilla Sweden this coming Friday, the second final will be at Riga Latvia on the 6th of September with the third final at Torun Poland on the 27th of September.

  26. Think that takes a bit away from Brennan to be fair, who was outstanding all night. Given what Cardiff means to Harris, I'm not so sure he'd give up another chance to get back there for one last time.

  28. Back in the olden days when the sun shone all season and there was passing in every race and GB ruled the shale as we're oft reminded, the BLRC was always at Belle Vue and the British Final always at Coventry. I'm sure people used to complain about that too re advantage, but was there ever any suggestion realistically it would be anywhere else? The best riders should be able to win events at any stadium after all, it's not like the NSS is a trick track, and I doubt many riders fear riding it.

  32. Think you are looking at the averages from a few seasons, if you looked at the same place as me, need to change the range to 2024 stats only. Michelsen is 21st on 6.86. Even so a riders Extraliga average doesn't mean a lot when racing in GB. Janowski is 7.54, Pawlicki is 6.82 who have both struggled over here. While Doyle is down in 40th averaging 6.20, with Woffinden further back on 5.76.

  33. To change track slightly. We have a Polish world champion.More than one GP held in Poland.

  34. It’s about time they banned those covers on the left side of the bike, the space between the tubes of the frame is supposed to be covered so in the event of a crash a hand doesn’t go in the chain and sprocket, as you can see on janowski there it was fully exposed

  35. People says Bewley is full throttle jockey can only do it at Belle Vue etc, so was Cardiff GP win a full throttle track?
    1 point
  36. Bewley does have home track advantage but it is what it is someone will at most tracks .I thought there was some good racing feel for Brennan ,I am old school he finished top in the 20 heats so should be champion don t like these one off finals but again it is what it is Bewley is crowed British Champion but does it mean he s the best British rider out there

  37. I wouldn't say I'm a 100% Certain Kevin, but it seems Mr Michelsen could be close to becoming a Witch in next few days. But as we all Know in this Sport, 1 Phone Call,a Dodgy Visa or something else like Laguta not being brave enough to turn up every week, things can change very quickly.

  38. I've lost track with various names being banded about, hopefully it's Michelsen and not Madsen coz he's a bit flaky if the track is overly grippy or wet, pretty much a gating tart majority of the time.

  44. It just needs some properly absorbant fencing in front of the armco, the foam fence just isn't absorbant enough when backed to a rigid structure... not to mention the crappy gym mats placed between the armco and the foam barrier!!! You shouldn't be sustaining the injuries Schlein has by colliding with a foam or air fence... end of!

  45. Tai is badly out of form on the SGP and Polish scene but in the UK he is picking up decent points in most meetings apart from Kings Lynn on Thurs. Although he may not go as well as Musielak did last year around Foxhall. Tai Woffinden 9 43 99 4 9.21 9.58 27 6 6 2 2 0 Jack Holder 8 35 76 6 8.69 9.37 17 10 5 1 1 1 Chris Holder 9 41 86 4 8.39 8.78 21 10 3 4 2 1
