  1. Good effort from Tom in gp qualifiers. 10 points and 5th place best of the rest. Could probably hand picked the qualifiers beforehand

  2. Connor Mountain scored 13+1 at Berwick for Plymouth on Saturday . Not bad for a 2nd string rider

  3. I'd have taken Scott Nicholls over R/R to be fair.

  4. To make a switch at reserve would be a major error. Both reserves are improving week by week and are great to watch. Workington is my favourite team right now. Two ex Swindon riders, 3 exciting new foreigners, solid number one and a raw 100% tryer at no 7. This team needs sticking with. I've already got my credit card ready for the next time they are on the telly!

  5. Back in the day (like 50 years ago) there was no more intense rivalry than that between Coventry and Leicester. However, as a speedway fan I regularly go to Leicester these days while I wait for Brandon to reopen (yes it will, you see). My best friend says he follows Leicester but isn't a supporter. I'm a bit more on the side of being a supporter. It's not like any of the team come from Leicester is it? Seriously, I love my speedway and supporting a former rival seems to me quite appropriate. And just so this doesn't hijack the thread, I enjoy my visits to Oxford, very much. But when Brandon reopens I'll be back there like a shot.

  6. my statement went way above you ignorant and arrogant head, prime example of my statement, happened yesterday in home bargains me my daughter (19) her boyfriend (21) went in to get 2 of these one use barbeques, i got in the q to pay for them, while they were looking at other stuff, i pay for my stuff and there is a guy in between us being served while my daughter says to me i think we need these steel barbeque skewers, so i pass them some money to pay for them. when the woman behind the counter ( in her mid thirties i would guess ) asks them for id. they did not have any on them, so saying she couldn't serve them, i says to her i gave them the money to get them, she says i still cant serve them, so i say ive paid for them for me, she then said i can not serve you for them, because i now know they are for them. her common sense gone, taken over by health and safety rules. i mean no offence but your statement is absolutely pathetic.

  7. Having been looking forward to a Dad and his 2 lads weekend at the Grand Prix Round 2 in Warsaw we had brilliant day watching some excellent racing and the whole day went smoothly and as planned. Our flight home Sunday morning was an early one , we met and had photographs taken with Chris and Jack Holder , we met Jason Doyle and his pit crew all at the Airport which was a good start to our trip home. We had unallocated seats on the plane back to the UK and expected to be separated which was fine ….. the boys boarded as I followed on after only to go and find my youngest lad sitting next to the current leader , the one and only Jason Doyle with Simon Lambert sitting in front. As you can imagine my lad had the biggest cheesiest grin ever to be seen ! Both Jason and Simon chatted pretty much most of the flight home sharing stories and offering some banter. Jason also took a keen interest in my lads Kart racing and was more than willing to look at some photos and ask about the sport which made my lads days. To think Jason had been to work only a few hours before and come away winning the Grand Prix and still take time to talk and show interest in my lad is a day we will never forget. We now look forward to our next trip to watch Round 8 in Wroclaw only this time we’ll be joined by her indoors so I’m guessing they’ll be a bit of shopping and sight seeing involved !

  8. Don't think that's a way forward. Bottom end would be Ace, Jack and a 4.00 rider, who might not make his average. That doesnt strengthen us in any way and writes off a top four finish... and our season.

  9. I’m pretty sure that when Danny got injured and knew he’d be out for a bit , that the Ipswich management said they’d got the guests signed up for the foreseeable to cover his absence

  13. If/when the NSS closes I’ll be lost to the sport after fifty odd years. Away from the NSS it is now a far too tedious affair and with no team interest it’s only use is as an insomnia cure. Considering I use to taking in 100+ meetings away from Belle Vue every year, it’s a sad position the sport has engineered itself into.

  14. I guess I'm very much in the minority here, so I'll hold up my hands and say I was wrong. I don't feel the way most of you do, but that's okay. Then again I grew up with speedway during the Brian Karger and Martin Dugard era - and that sort of rivalry (for me, at least) isn't going away just because a track closed. But when Oxford was closed, I went to Swindon and supported the opposition, and it was still a huge amount of fun.

  15. Another person using the Mail/Express version of whatever they think “woke” means. It’s right-wingers who curb free speech -that’s why Mail and Express readers cheerfully try to blame everyone else.

  16. I hope this is not a widely held view. Certainly in my experience I've been welcomed into the Oxford family.

  20. If Plymouth using a guest Tate or Paco best options imo. Although Berwick and Redcar are at Poole after Plymouth, so could look to one of their riders like Kemp/Hume or Bailey/Edwards. As they might want the practice. Sure I read Edwards making his comeback for Sheffield but might be an idea to test it the day before? Just a thought. Edit - actually can't use Tate lol. His average gone up to 6.96 on the 18th May!

  21. I hope not. We as paying fans want to see competitive racing and Plymouth to put out the best lineup they can. Covatti returning at Poole would likely mean a very small points haul. Rather a guest who can at least put up a fight.

  24. I would keep Jack, because he has scored at home which is nice for us, and replace Paul, who doesn't look like he'd beat anyone at all some weeks. Gives us the chance to look at someone for next year.

  30. Pirates to take this with a 56-34 win me reckons. Lawson to hit a max against his old team, well until he drank a flat white and realised being a Pirate would be far more fun!

  31. In reality Oxford aren't that fussed for these fixtures so saving a few quid and keeping a local happy is enough for them. In a months time when they travel to Belle Vue needing a win before travelling to Leicester where the score line sets the tone of the season the choice of guest is going to be far more important.

  33. ok - stand ins - you know exactly what i was getting at. What a really negative comment. It was an opportunity for two kids, thats all I'm saying and I know both sides could have found one. After all, thats what the league is supposed to be for, or so i thought

  34. Because Alex Spooner hasn’t ridden for Oxford we are not allowed a facility for him hence the 2.0average unattached rider. Although this is clearly the only league that doesn’t get facilities, as both Plymouth and Birmingham were allowed facilities for riders that hadn’t ridden for the clubs. The ref made an absolute bloody howler by excluding Jody Scott it was clear the trigger flicked his wheel out at Jody. Trigger should have been out or with a very big push it should have been all 4 back.

  38. Replacing Vissing with Flint and Worrall for Brennan was criminal. Nothing against Flint but he is bang average at Ashfield . Brennan has went up another level this year whilst Worrall has probably dropped a level , Brennan probably wanted a track nearer to his base down south but we have lost out big time after 2 seasons off improvement from him and looks like he is one off the leagues top performers. Think we need to look at possibly a couple of changes to try and stem the flow of mediocrity.

  41. We are all looking at rain off's from a supporters angle ie travelling a few hours with all that entails, what about from a riders/promoters perspective flying in from europe only to find the meeting has been rained off, this is yet another spin off from having to few home grown riders, now let me think whose fault is that,? have bike but nowhere to ride every year home grown riders are lost to the sport through not having a team to ride for, yet riders travel halfway around the world to earn a living and they are not GP riders, what a state this sport has gotten itself in to..

  42. I imagine bluster has been told his fate regarding a fine or sanctions and has threatened to pull the plug on the stars so the SCB are trying to prevent that happening before disclosing the punishment.

  43. What motivates people to always complain about call-offs? They all seem to be experts on track preparation (maybe they saw a video on youtube?). This time Chris Louis is wrong because he called off too early, last time he called off too late. Social media has a lot to answer for. It gives a platform for people sitting on their backsides to whinge about what is done by people that actually do things!

  44. We are getting entertainment I've never enjoyed it more too be honest Yes we are weak at reserve But the biggest noise is when celina comes close or does pass someone It's not all about winning If you had zmarzlik and Lindgren as a pairing in your team it wouldn't be that entertaining as you would just expect them to win every heat

  45. So sad when you think the standard of the NDL 5 /6 years ago, not so sure the likes of Brennen/Edwards/Flint etc would have got to where they are today if this had been the NDL standard when they were 15 year olds. In fact most matches aren't even up to the standard of the 2nd half junior matches at Arlington a few years ago and they were an extra 'free' tag on to a meeting. Wish I could be bothered to find your and my posts( if you still can) in about 2018/19, but we could see this happening back then and sure the way it went hastened the demise of the likes of Eastbourne and Kent ( and a few others) as well.

  46. Trouble is, Chapman is playing the bully boy like he normally does. What all the other clubs should do is the exact same in the future when they have a couple of riders missing.

  48. Speedway meetings never used to be cancelled with such small amounts of rain - the meeting against Lynn last week being a case in point. This is hurting not only the hosting tracks but also the sport in general and the riders themselves, because venues will continue to disappear. Some people might say the bikes these days can't be ridden but if that's the case then it's not the tracks at fault but the bikes and it's really disappointing that it's got to this state. I used to enjoy meetings on wet tracks as results were a little more unpredictable. Rant over.
