  1. Having been looking forward to a Dad and his 2 lads weekend at the Grand Prix Round 2 in Warsaw we had brilliant day watching some excellent racing and the whole day went smoothly and as planned. Our flight home Sunday morning was an early one , we met and had photographs taken with Chris and Jack Holder , we met Jason Doyle and his pit crew all at the Airport which was a good start to our trip home. We had unallocated seats on the plane back to the UK and expected to be separated which was fine ….. the boys boarded as I followed on after only to go and find my youngest lad sitting next to the current leader , the one and only Jason Doyle with Simon Lambert sitting in front. As you can imagine my lad had the biggest cheesiest grin ever to be seen ! Both Jason and Simon chatted pretty much most of the flight home sharing stories and offering some banter. Jason also took a keen interest in my lads Kart racing and was more than willing to look at some photos and ask about the sport which made my lads days. To think Jason had been to work only a few hours before and come away winning the Grand Prix and still take time to talk and show interest in my lad is a day we will never forget. We now look forward to our next trip to watch Round 8 in Wroclaw only this time we’ll be joined by her indoors so I’m guessing they’ll be a bit of shopping and sight seeing involved !

  2. He has to take it on the chin, accept it and crack on. It hasn’t just been this season, he was doing this last season as well the pit gate b0llocks. It seems more than one promotion has had enough of his antics and complained and who can blame them? They’re all trying hard to run a viable professional league only for this clown to undermine it all with his shenanigans. Hopefully he gets his head down, stops pi$sing about and cracks on with the rest of the season like everyone else. Nobody wants to see Lynn being pulled from the league and the ones who are getting messed around the most are his own supporters!

  3. She's actually averaging 2.21, so Workington haven't gained an advantage, but that's still irrelevant, why come out with a detailed set of rules & not follow them?

  5. Like making kids wear goggles when playing conkers, kite flying banned on Bridlington beach, a shop refusing to inflate a balloon for h/s reasons, ban the yoyo and sack race, a racecourse banning picnics on the grounds that it constitutes a trip hazard, i could name numerous examples of this nonsense, i was brought up to use commom sense something sadly in short supply nowadays.

  6. What motivates people to always complain about call-offs? They all seem to be experts on track preparation (maybe they saw a video on youtube?). This time Chris Louis is wrong because he called off too early, last time he called off too late. Social media has a lot to answer for. It gives a platform for people sitting on their backsides to whinge about what is done by people that actually do things!

  7. Gutted by this. There’s an argument to be made that Complin won that league title for Glasgow last season. No, he didn’t top score, but he went above and beyond what was expected of him. His heat fourteen move and block on Lewis Kerr against Oxford at Ashfield, allowing Brennan to come through the inside, was genuine world class speedway. What was more impressive was his connection with the fans. He almost single handedly had Ashfield rocking. Regardless, he’s f*cked up, big time. I heard he was gifted a very expensive engine which, including the many sponsors who backed him and the multiple fans who bought his merchandise, renders a long list of disappointed and let down parties. What a shame.

  8. This is literally the equivalent to discussing banking and complaining about the colour of pennies. Or discussing the maritime industry and criticising the quality of blow-up pool toys. The topic of discussion is Health & Safety within a sport which involves four people, travelling between 40MPH and 60MPH around a sphere-shaped track with no brakes, but you’re talking about conkers? Honestly, this place is utterly mental. Throttle cut-outs and folding foot rests, plus dirt deflectors, have significantly increased rider protection. Those are Health & Safety developments within the sport whereby the subject should be applauded. If you want to talk about balloons being inflated, don’t quote me.

  14. So, essentially, riding to his average! As with all riders, time catches up with them. Chris still produces moments of brilliance, but he can't be expected to do that all the time.

  15. Improve the team with who ? I travel to Oxford to watch my team and enjoy the racing from the riders we have, the atmosphere is excellent so for me as long as the racing is good and we win at home, job done.

  18. Internet search shows me 390m Think Belle Vue Hyde Road in the 1960's was 418yd and Norwich 425yd (if my memory correct), so Landshut about the same. Just wish we going to see Hyde Road racing but I doubt it.

  19. This has been the way at King's Lynn ever since Jonathan Chapman left. There needs to be someone new, with very deep pockets to make King's Lynn a success.

  20. Cannot see anyone else really wanting to run the speedway at Lynn with the history of who they would be dealing with and the previous experience in mind that it seems has ended badly with Alex Brady. Wouldn't be surprised if in 2025 the Trackstar Stock Car promotion are not given more dates including some in midweek as Buster would make more money from the stadium's use for his pocket this way and with little or no hassle to him.

  21. You were talking about H&S being the most important metric on the planet not just in speedway stadiums, it was a generalization, my point is health and safety is about taking personal responsibility, my examples of elf and safety gone mad shows how its got out of control with the kiljoys looking for risk where there is none, state nannying is taking away enjoyment from simple pleasures. As for speedway of course safety is paramount but with all the introductions of air fences, dirt deflectors etc its still four men racing 500cc motorcycles out of choice eradicating all risk is impossible. Look at the risks in other sports especially boxing, a sport that people actually want to ban.

  22. JK`s blank Landshut racecard https://www.speedwayservice.at/images/racecards/2024/SGP2024-03.pdf As he has done a blank it probably means he won`t do another after the draw around 3pm UK time- if he does i will post the link. Edit racecard now done with riders listed replaces blank.

  23. Sometimes I think Buster acts like a two year old. This will have minimal effect on him but doe's more to damage the trust of his loyal fans. To say calling off a meeting to save riders from traveling from another country is a poor excuse as the flights will already have been paid & without good reason a refund will not be given & a postponed meeting is far from good reason

  24. Well done to the higher ups for finally putting an end to this nonsense. Buster ruined Peterborough and King's Lynn Speedway.

  25. We are all looking at rain off's from a supporters angle ie travelling a few hours with all that entails, what about from a riders/promoters perspective flying in from europe only to find the meeting has been rained off, this is yet another spin off from having to few home grown riders, now let me think whose fault is that,? have bike but nowhere to ride every year home grown riders are lost to the sport through not having a team to ride for, yet riders travel halfway around the world to earn a living and they are not GP riders, what a state this sport has gotten itself in to..

  30. The point is, far narrower, bigger and faster tracks existed in the past. The bikes of that time and the riders of the time who had far more throttle control mastered them because they had the ability to ride in all kinds of conditions with steel or wooden fences awaiting them not air fences. No social media, no 24 hours news, no mobile phones, if you were lucky Steve Wright or Diddy David Hamilton may announce on mid afternoon radio 2 a meeting was off. Otherwise they turned up and far more often than not got the sawdust down, overalls to protect leathers and just got on with it. Men not petal dicks

  31. It’s just weird or even bizarre that Chapman “postpones” meetings that are capable of being run. Ok, he’s the one who has to deal with the short term cash-flow challenge but he simply cannot be allowed to be the tail that wags the dog. The BSPA need to hit him where it hurts the most which is a financial penalty (fine or fixture awarded to Lions) and be informed clearly that such similar actions will not be tolerated in the future.

  34. Don’t think you are far off with the team building appraisal. Whatever way you look at it whoever thought this team would be top 4 made an absolute James Hunt off the team building. Obviously losing Complin could not have been foreseen ,and it might have been a completely different outcome.

  35. Seems an odd decision not to sign a Dane, unless you are a Wednesday club. I'm sure both Workington & Berwick are delighted with Vissing & Borke & would just need to plan when to race at Poole / Oxford. It's not like Danish teams ride every Wednesday of the year. Perhaps Cami trying to deflect the blame of not picking the right riders I wonder?

  37. I agree with that . Will be interesting what happens between now and Monday at Belle Vue and Thursday next home meeting with Ipswich personally if think the club should say nothing and come out fighting for every point let on track action be there response .

  38. Good decision by the SCB. No point calling off fixtures if it costs you 2 points, won't harm Lynn and his season, but at least a precedent has been set.

  41. Any rider that tests positive before a meeting should be reported to the police.if they drove to a meeting and are driving home under the influence surely the officials that took the test should have a legal obligation to call the police. If not why not?..

  45. Excellent point lost in the midst of whining about track width. Look back at tracks like The Boulevard, The Shay, Somerton Park, Sydney Showground on Oz and ahem dare I say Derwent Park... Narrower than Plymouth and far bigger higher speeds. 2 valve and 4 valve uprights, harder to ride needing more skill and more throttle control. Modern bike rev far too high and almost all riders (a few notable older exceptions) moaning about tracks when the issue is bikes and their ability to adapt.

  46. Should be of no surprise if he has already implied that type of threat in the belief that UK speedway cannot do without him. However, in todays climate and profile of speedway promoters and officials, it most certainly can. So if Chapman does want to take his bat and ball home so be it. Put simply, one person is nowhere near being bigger than the sport and as such Chapman cannot be allowed to hold any part of it to ransom.
