  1. Good to see the SCB reporting when riders aren't drugs cheats. On Sunday 12th May 2024 the Racoo Anti - Doping Team attended the Leicester Cubs v Belle Vue Colts National League fixture where two riders from each team were randomly selected and tested. All four riders tested produced a negative result.

  2. I think you need to look deeper into why kings lynn are struggling to attract enough fans. do you remember Brian Havelock running Redcar ? He had poor teams year on year with the same riders and apathy towards the fans. Crowds dropped further and further each year. Interesting enough though the club always made a profit. then a new promotion with enthusiasm invested into the team and engaged with the fans. crowds returned to see good entertaining racing on a well prepared track. look how the Courtney’s run Berwick and Oxford. They too engage with the fans. Buster is tired and fed up and it shows. It’s minimal effort and open the turnstiles and it’s a take it or leave it attitude and a complete contempt of his customers. all lynns troubles are from the top and the owner.

  3. I wouldn’t bother. He’s hanging on to his “we beat Ipswich on aggregate” for dear life. He’s mentioned it numerous times on various threads. It’s as if he knows Belle Vue aren’t looking as strong this year and he’s feeling a bit insecure about their chances. I mean, they did lose at Birmingham!

  4. They certainly got away with a lot of them last night, we were sitting by the start line and it was disgusting what they got away with, also clearly crossing the white line and getting away with it. If they think the way to winning is by cheating, that's not very sporting.

  5. The point is, far narrower, bigger and faster tracks existed in the past. The bikes of that time and the riders of the time who had far more throttle control mastered them because they had the ability to ride in all kinds of conditions with steel or wooden fences awaiting them not air fences. No social media, no 24 hours news, no mobile phones, if you were lucky Steve Wright or Diddy David Hamilton may announce on mid afternoon radio 2 a meeting was off. Otherwise they turned up and far more often than not got the sawdust down, overalls to protect leathers and just got on with it. Men not petal dicks

  7. Rare off night from cookie this season. Is what it is, can’t win them all. Still the bonus point to play for, but that’s definitely an uphill battle.

  8. More long term user and that is also the reason why the laboratory has suggested the hair sampling to confirm he is long term clean . What I do not understand is when these riders get caught they know they are guilty why do they come up with these excuses like Complin with a Mouth Abcess treatment. All they do is destroy their reputation further as get proven as a liar as well If this has been genuine and Lee had told the Faceena’s this I am confident a well paid lawyer would have been able to defend this case and provided multiple medical experts to end with just missing the meetings that he has done

  9. I thought the comparison between Tai's interview and Emil's interview was interesting - totally chalk and cheese. Tai always seems to have a chip on his shoulder and be looking for ways to be controversial - never seems to engage well with the interviewer. Compare that to Emil - both riders of similar standard but Emil much more interesting and easier to listen to.

  11. Didn't work last night for them, did it?? Had to laugh at the updates site, when, before the meeting they were saying "Cook not up for this. Doesn't want to know. Doesn't want the meeting to go ahead." Then he goes out and wins his four races!! What would he have done if he was "up for it"?? Not knocking the Updates by any means, they do a fantastic job, it just made me chuckle!

  12. I should have put the Euromillions on last night. On a serious note, that was a disgrace, wasn’t it? The sport needs clubs and tracks badly, so exceptions can be made, but this Plymouth are damaging the sport with that track. I didn’t watch it live because I’m still scarred by the Oxford meeting at Plymouth, but I don’t think anyone could have predicted that. Hopefully the result compensated for it, but fans of Workington - or any club - shouldn’t travel that far, then encounter such a delay. It’s unacceptable. I watched Batchelor’s interview with BSN this morning and you could tell he was completely disillusioned by the set-up at Plymouth. That shouldn’t happen; he’s risking his safety for our entertainment.

  13. As frustrating as it was to have the wrong result, amending results later is a can of worms best avoided. If you think speedway looks amateur now, introduce that and it'll be an order of magnitude worse.

  14. Batchelor aside the Comets were just not at the races from the gate, the Poole riders made the most of the ripped up starts. Sam Hagon was like a rocket out of them. One team being that far behind to the first turn is not going to produce good racing unfortunately, Comets were a let down but similiarly Poole too good. Would be surprised if Poole get close to losing at home this season. Well done We can't be harsh on Cookie, he will be back to his best on Saturday i'd imagine after 3 long days on the road. Every Comets fan would of taken this start to the season in general.

  15. Long night this is turning into. Can’t have an off night from any of our top 5 because we’re constantly carrying 2 reserves. Think something needs to change. I was all for giving it time but we’re going to get a hiding tonight.

  16. This in a nutshell. It seems as if all the stars have to align perfectly for a meeting to go ahead. Perfect weather, every single rider available etc. all just looks a very tired set up to me.

  18. Well nearly 24 hours after that shambles last nite, got to have another say, about 20 comets fans travelled down spent our money on admission food and drink, probably in the region of £500 + 1st no track preparation was done until 30 minutes before the meeting, then a 30 minutes delay, had an interval, then 1 heat later they decided to do some track work, we witnessed terrible speedway on a terrible track, this is giving speedway a bad name, yes the comets won, but speedway is the loser

  19. Some H & S things were a good move, ball end levers, dirt deflectors, folding footrests/kickstarts ( MX). throttle cut-outs , ambulance cover, drug tests to name but a few .

  20. You’re unnecessarily attempting to romanticise the past. Ivan Mauger, Bruce Penhall, Hans Nielsen, Tony Rickardsson and Derek Sneddon would struggle to pass on Plymouth’s subbuteo track. Social media, 24 hours news and mobile phones have been revolutionary for all sports, including speedway. With those parting comments, you’re at risk of sounding like a deluded old man. Health & safety is a non-negotiable criteria in the modern world and absolutely rightly so, despite the fact that you fantasise about those who ”just got on with it”.

  22. Excellent point lost in the midst of whining about track width. Look back at tracks like The Boulevard, The Shay, Somerton Park, Sydney Showground on Oz and ahem dare I say Derwent Park... Narrower than Plymouth and far bigger higher speeds. 2 valve and 4 valve uprights, harder to ride needing more skill and more throttle control. Modern bike rev far too high and almost all riders (a few notable older exceptions) moaning about tracks when the issue is bikes and their ability to adapt.

  23. I’m guessing today we may find out as the SCB are meeting to decide on Lee complins future so presumably kings Lynns fate is decided. im guessing a large fine which will be suspended providing no further dodgy rain offs. so seen to be punishing but not actually.

  24. Jumping in late (too late?), I'd go with John Cook, apologies if already mentioned. In 1980 he stuggled badly at Hull on a 4v JAWA known for tricky handling, he moved to Ipswich as part of the deal taking Dennis Sigalos to Foxhall (A HUGE loss to Hull BTW) with Billy Sanders coming to Hull (along wth a cash adjustment), where Billy became quite popular. But from 1981, riding a track he seemed to prefer more on a Weslake he defo preferred more, Cookie became the all-action 'Cowboy' that we all loved to watch, never a dull moment when he was on track....

  27. Wonder if they are still going to boo Craig Cook on parade? I get why they do it but he hasn't done anything questionable at Poole for at least 6 years now, so maybe time to stop.

  28. feeling sorry for b barker . NOT .i can see craig wanting a bit of track work done to get rid of the land sponges . while barker was saying the track was ok. so craig /tate are in heat 1 , and barker has his first ride in ht 4 and would know if the track was okat by the 3 heat before his first outing on the sponge! the white line was a joke . rolled on by a human who prob didnt give a jot if it was sraight or clear , needs to be a solid line that cannot be wiped out by a bike giong near it . the hole areana was a shambles and the ground force was from the 1970s plymouth need to move forward with this venture , but they wont because it will take away their massive home advantage .. pirates could/will be tougher to crack .C.O.U.M.

  30. First trip to the Coliseum, the experience wasn't what it could have been due mainly to track dynamics, very narrow straights and entrance into bends can't really be conducive to good racing . We entered the stadium at around 5-30pm and it seemed that no track prep had been undertaken and there was no white line. Whatever track widening had taken place during the winter can't have included widening the straights and entrance to corners, hard to explain this one really. The delay to the start of the meeting due to what appeared to be 2 areas of concern namely entrance to turn 3 and mid bend turn 3 and 4 was lamentable as was the time taken to run the meeting. I also fail to see the logic of riders not having early practice laps to test the theory that tracks are not raceable before loads of discussions and subsequent track work is carried out. Can anyone explain to me why after having an interval following heat 11 we had one more heat then a grading and drenching of the track break yet no work was carried out during the interval ?. Well done the Comets on getting the win a resolute determined performance from the top 5, it was good to see Antti and Tate adapt well to another new track . Overall this cannot have been a good advert for speedway which I find quite sad considering the ambition to raise the profile of the sport and attract investment. BSN should consider this carefully. UTC !

  31. You could argue Sheffield weakened Leicester & Oxford by removing a strong RS from the list. Now if they dropped him, these clubs can't sign Edwards, so Sheffield still gain. How is that in the best interest of British Speedway / or an improving young Brit like Edwards?

  34. AMB Transponders the ones we use in speedway are more for counting laps and timing each lap and are really Only used in MX and stock cars and the cheapest version on the market not really for first passed the post to the 100th of a second or the speed that speedway bikes go www.mylaps.com we use them in mx you can log into the websight after each race and get all the information on each race also if the battery is fully charged in one and another is less than half power the fully charged one will get picked up before the half charged one Think how many time in Speedway GPs do we see the replay of a tight finish being shown to see who finishes first because they can’t rely on their transponders there really no good for our sport

  39. What is the matter with some of you, you should be ashamed. i have supported Brum since 1971, never moaned about them, had a few tears ( a bit like my footy team ), but i will still go and watch them , stop piggin moaning. Rumour from the Speedway Tavern show that there is something bigger in the air.
