The thing with passing is people do also sometimes have to accept that the quickest riders are also the better gaters6 points

Maybe got confused by King's Lynn calling off meetings because of no water falling from sky.5 points

Leon looked better tonight but still lacking speed his track craft more than anything got him through. Think we would have took 12 points before it started and some great racing again. Sets things up nicely for Wednesday. And take a bow Jack Smith absolutely superb.3 points

Unfortunately there is no normal life for Jason, he is a talent on two wheels, very funny and a likeable guy but the but goes a long way back. Jason was kept out of a secure place to stay because of his ability on a Speedway bike when Chris Morton and David Gordon agreed/were persuaded by the probation services to train him and give him an opportunity to change his life. Those commitments kept him out of custody but when it came to formally signing a contract other clubs stepped in so off he went and became effectively unsupervised. The rest is fairly well known the negative almost feral influences around him put him back to square one. Others from our sport were influenced by Jason and got into similar difficulties with the authorities, one I know is certainly not riding anymore. What you see is what you get with Jason it's the bags and baggage that will be the problem I'd put him in a team tomorrow but wouldn't allow his entourage anywhere near a Speedway track.3 points

Not making it up,you said you would have a massive party when Poole are gone. That sounds like you want us to close and will be very happy if we did.3 points

What caught my eye about Leon was that he wasn't very smooth. I sit at the 3rd bend and he seemed to be making a helluva lot of effort, whilst others, such as Jimmy P, appeared to be nice and smooth. Obviously I wasn't taping everyone and analysing them in detail, but it caught my eye. As the 3rd bend is my usual perch I must compliment the track staff on whatever they've done to the 3rd bend. The racing tonight was just fantastic. I didn't think Ashfield could get any better. Jeezo, that Ashton Boughen looks a prospect. He's a bit "watch him through yer fingers" but boy has the lad got some speed.2 points

The Mulford pass on Craig Cook was good and also Batch with Wright in 13 and 15, were great races. A shame that King and Tate picked up injuries. Hopefully they won't be out for too long.2 points

There's a trend.... You got battered at Berwick and have been beaten at Redcar... And they're snooze fests?2 points

Wow 2 passes in a whole meeting, absolutely mind blowing speedway. Berwick tactics from Redcar tonight2 points

I remember seeing Stan ride regularly, for New Cross in their provincial days and later for West Ham. Glad to see that after surviving that awful Lokeren disaster, he's made it to 90 years of age - Happy Birthday Stan!2 points

I understand the affect of water falling from the sky.... you possibly being an armchair supporter and not actually getting to foxhall last night to see the very wet track makes your comment not only rude and provocative but an even newer low for the forum. Having seen the track at 6.45 I still believe the decision could have been made at 6.15 which would have saved a lot of fan travelling money and time.2 points

That was a really bad decision, Cook was doing ok at the time, so put him in - more chance off the gate that Milik off 15m, or give Flint his 2nd ride? Stewart Dickson did the same at Glasgow, giving Schlein a 15m heat & not giving Hodder his 3rd ride instead. Very basic mistakes being made (though not as bad as Peter Schroeck)2 points

Some of the reactions on here are quite hysterical. A person committed a crime, was caught and served their time - happens all the time, get over it As for other speedway riders, we've had alleged and convicted corruption, multiple drug abusers, alcohol abusers, violent criminals, including murder and many of these are/were warmly thought of e.g. Lee, Morans, Ward. Very few have no victims, the drugs trade sees many deaths and abuses of people across the world. If he wants to ride speedway then I have no problem with that.2 points

That list is still huge and amounts to around £60,000, it stretched back to the 90s, some of the non payers are no longer with us, some have just retired and gone off into the sunset but some are still riding and have no intention of paying, said this before that if any rider has a debt to a speedway van sales at the end of the season then next year they shouldn’t be granted a license till it’s paid, I know a few years ago this was the case with Aussies but not sure if that still the case2 points

I thought Berwick despite engine failures and falls leading to two rider withdrawals recovered valiantly. They all gave it everything. Never threw it in. Rory was fantastic in Heat 15 . How he squeezed Pickering and Sedgmen was breath taking.1 point

The racing early on was processional but there were some cracking races later on, the races between Wright and Bachelor were superb (thought Wright won Heat 13 from my position). To suggest that this was some underhand tactic from Redcar is quite frankly laughable and makes you look a bit daft. Bears still having no luck with injuries, although Kings absence was slightly levelled out by Zischke withdrawing too (hope both are ok) but the team rallied and Bailey and Knudsen gave Wright excellent support. Special mention to Mulford who was much improved. Better signs for the team. For the Comets that’s the best I’ve seen Batchelor ride in a long time and Vissing had a couple of good rides but Cook faded after a good start and the rest were inconsistent. Makes the second leg interesting at least.1 point

Reality bites, Workington can't afford just one of their 1-5 having an off day when they're carrying the reserves, need at least three race wins from them all every meeting to have a chance1 point

I actually think they are more than decent.. And not punching their weight.. Mainly down to Doyle.. Lidsey progressing well and his performances should be the bonus, rather than the one that keeps them in the meeting..1 point
-
I read that grudiadz we’re going to struggle to stay up this year because they have a weak team, now that may be right that they will struggle but it’s the big hitters like Doyle and fricke who are letting them down, with those 2 firing this match was for the taking but both look down on power, even when in good positions they are getting passed1 point

This year, averages include league and BSN Series. Last year, it was league only. Never includes playoffs/knockout, etc. Just the stages where all teams are in.1 point

Cud be an interesting couple of meetings against scummy, as whoever wins on aggregate over 2 meetings will be in the semi final of the BSN cup, also probably a chance the losing team will also qualify as best 2nd place finisher1 point

Must win for us this one if we have any aspirations of progressing this season.... It's doable but won't be counting any chickens considering the Monarchs held Poole to 9 points at home.1 point

Tough one to call this. Masters and Nichols should get about 25 between them as only see bomber troubling them (and wouldn't say he's even hit 2023 form yet). 2, 3 & 4 on current form we should have the upper hand do could come down to who comes out on top with the reserves. 49-41 would be my call. Unfortunately missing tonight hopefully an entertaining safe meeting1 point

Whilst I appreciate him looking to the future it's a shame Scott can't do a full PL season as he is riding as well as ever ,hopefully this won't be his last season as a rider .1 point

Rider replacement got paid 10 which is probably more than Klindt would have got.1 point

Dickson did the right thing tonight in replacing Douglas with Kemp when he touched the tapes and remarked on it in his after meeting interview. It was obvious that passing was going to be at a premium tonight, especially in the early heats, so even after Milik's impressive victory in heat 1 it was looking extremely unlikely he was going to come through from the back in heat 5 against Masters and Lawson, so to make that decision was very strange especially as Dickson had basically shown Birmingham what to do in the previous heat. With the Brummies struggling for points on the track the last thing they need is for the management to be making basic errors like this.1 point

Yes, Redcar do streaming. Available via the website.1 point

If it's any consolation, I think you've got the best looking race suits in the league so at least you looked good while you were taking a sound beating1 point

That is said at most tracks not just here but everywhere to be fair. Nobody is happy unless they see passing in most heats, which just doesn’t happen.1 point

I understand Crucible has a contract for 3 more years…..to mark 50 years at the Crucible….thats amazing. I like watching snooker, but it can’t match the excitement of a speedway meeting, actually ……nothing can.1 point

max James falls when Hagon fell off trying to avoid him. That’s a shocking decision by the ref what does he want him to do run him over. Standard of refereeing this year has been nothing short of a disgrace.1 point

The sport which has the most offers and offers them continuing employment is football. Yet every week people pay to watch rapists, drug cheats, wife beaters who steal a living through the sport.1 point

Hardly anyone outside the few thousand who follow the sport would even notice if he came back into Speedway... It isn't like any return would drive tens of thousands away... As that has already been done by others down the years... And if anyone wants to make a stand by not going should any convicted criminal be riding then let them.... Plenty more will still turn up regardless of his presence.... And, if we are now only allowing ex cons to do certain jobs, why should others then be made to work with them? Other "labourer's" in your scenario may not want him there with them for example... Therefore, what jobs does society say ex cons can do without someone having a protest? The bottom line is hardly anyone in this country has heard of Speedway, let alone Jason Garrity...1 point
-
Hard to believe that 39 years ago today, we lost Billy...1 point
-
Garrity for all his sins (and there are many ) comes across as a very personable bloke (cheeky chappie and all that ) and was pretty well liked by the majority of riders but not all, guess that all depended on if you had a run in with him, the people who travelled with him I believe were his family and they were well known for not taking any guff from anyone and were known for causing a bit of trouble, I know there were some promoters/managers in the sport who just didn’t like him and it’s my opinion that those people stunted his progress in the sport despite his obvious talent on a bike by not giving him opportunities that other lesser talented riders seem to get, as I said previously if he doesn’t come back and make a go of it in speedway then I fear the worst for him and I can’t see any other opportunities for him to straighten his life out, does he deserve it ? Well no, speedway doesn’t owe him anything but he won’t be the first rider that the sport has kept out of prison and he won’t be the last, personally I don’t think he will be accepted back but if he is then I suppose we have to give him the benefit of doubt, really hope that he takes the opportunity and it doesn’t bite us in the ass, just to finish, I remember a meeting at Sheffield and after we finished we are in the changing rooms and garrity walked in having had a poor meeting, sat down and said “im going to have rob an off licence on the way home now” we all laughed but looking back who knows1 point

Jack Smith has actually been nominated for this event by Slovenia! The place is allocated to AMZS so if they nominated him it means he will use an AMZS FIME licence. Nationality does not matter in individual meetings.1 point

If a league match, for example, is abandoned without the result being declared: - no team points are awarded regarding the league table - no rides and points count in the riders' averages - the fixture does not count in official 'records of achievement', so effectively the races completed become unofficial - if a rider sets a new best time in an unofficial 'race', such as in a practice it does not count as an official record ..... so why would a track record time set in an abandoned meeting stand? On the other hand: - the riders will have been paid for the races they competed in - at the time the races took place they were 'official' until subsequently deemed otherwise - if a team drops out of the league the results are expunged from the records - if a team drops out of the league the riders' scores no longer count in their averages - expunged results are no longer official, although they were at the time they were achieved - a track record set during a meeting subsequently removed from the official records still stands ...... so why wouldn't a track record time set in an abandoned meeting still stand. In my opinion the record should stand even if the meeting is abandoned. It was an official race when it took place. Ivor Brown held the track record at Cradley Heath for nearly 6 years with a time of 68.4 seconds set against New Cross on 20th July 1963. Eric Boocock eventually set a new record of 67.0 seconds on 12th May 1969. In 1963 New Cross dropped out of the Provincial League in August and the results were expunged from the official records. The meeting at Cradley Heath was 'official' at the time it took place. Subsequently, Cradley Heath had the league points from the meeting taken away, Ivor Brown had the points scored taken away but he kept the track record.1 point
