  1. As SCB official nearing the stadium to make a track inspection...

  2. Absolutely brilliant call by Buster. I have evidence that shows there's absolutely no way supporters could even get their cars on the car park. Nothing to be investigated here

  3. Hope everyone in King's Lynn is keeping safe. With all of that rain the drains must be overflowing by now.

  4. Absolutely no way he would miss any meeting no matter where it was he is too professional and dedicated to his career. This has never happened before so maybe just maybe it’s the truth about flight having technical issues.

  7. I am sure Sheffield might have something to say about that!

  9. Hopefully Morris and co get hold of this early doors and set a standard, ridiculous call off, Sheffield should be awarded the away win, home season ticket holders given free meeting I.e KO Cup, the penalty for Buster being one less meetings income might make him not try cheat the system again

  10. Plus... That banner could have come away from the fence and wrapped itself around someone's legs, causing them to trip and drown...

  11. Buster is a crook always has and will be. A competent sport would look into this and take action but we all know that won’t happen.

  12. I daresay they are trying to work out what to do/say as unlike Tungate he didn't miss his flight he was actually on the plane. Personally I don't think Doyle/Ipswich should be penalised for something that was clearly not their fault.

  13. Charles Wright, who was out injured yesterday replaces Doyley... you couldn't make it up

  14. What a shambles The only shower is the shower of sh!t that are ruining the sport
    3 points
  15. Exactly this, especially after the result on Thursday at Sheffield. The club is a shambles but unfortunately the governing body that lets them get away with it are also a shambles.

  17. Sheffield gave them a good meeting few weeks back, both sets of riders going for it. Ipswich track is absolute crap in comparison!

  18. Dan Thompson certainly has made a bright start to the season.

  19. How’s the sour grapes? Stop talking rubbish, so Emil has crap equipment then? And Dan Thompson has the best equipment in Ipswich team? The track may be easy to ride but takes a lot of skill and bollocks to be fast round it.

  20. NSS is a lovely set up and a nice track which has been great for British Speedway. But it’s a typical soulless modern GP style track. More overtaking on the straights then in the bend and is entirely reliant on who has the best equipment and set up. understandably set up for their top riders who are track specialists to dominate

  21. I remember when every track had track rakers coming out to prep the track after EVERY race, meaning there was no need for tractor racing

  22. I don't disagree but it's to get his third ride out of the way surely?

  23. This is the problem with speedway in general, riders having team places across Europe and having to rely on public transport to get them from a to b to c to meet the demands of the sport and unfortunately airlines run like buses and trains and are in general unreliable when you have a tight schedule. Riders are not to blame for the failings of planes, air traffic controllers etc. but given that the Poles are in full control of speedway in Europe and dictate the terms, it is not surprising that every other nation has to put up and shut up. Blame the BSPA for the state of the sport as they clamour for top riders at any cost and when it does not work out they blame the individual. If the sport was run on the basis that clubs put on meetings that suit the local market and employ riders who can fully commit to those match days without chasing the inevitable then things might be different. It is all well and good saying that the top riders are tempted back to the UK and it is an improved product but no one has calculated the risk of the non appearance of a rider for circumstances beyond the riders control. BSPA Head in sand as usual. Neither Tungate or Doyle should be penalised, the promoters know the risk and it is them that should carry the can.

  24. Maybe because Tungate wasn’t even in the same country? How long are you going to wait? It’s down to the SCB to do their own investigation as to why Tungate missed his flight. Maybe they weren’t happy with the reasons given? Fact remains, one flight took off on time and one didn’t take off at all. As I say, apples and oranges. Calling for a ban for a rider who was on his flight and told to get off it is bloody ridiculous.

  25. As yet no offence has been committed. I assume that once the meeting is finished and the ACU referee submits his report the SCB will put out a statement saying they are investigating, and another one about the outcome. There seems an awful lot of sound and fury over very little at the moment. Doyle missed his plane. He will plead his case emphasising the mitigating circumstances and the SCB will adjudicate. Until then there's not much to be said. At least (unlike Oxford) the Witches have been able to find a 75% guest - ironically from Oxford!

  26. Points deduction maybe for the team calling the fixture off

  27. That just might be the incentive needed to stop these crazy call offs

  29. You can’t ban a rider for sitting on his booked flight, and then through no fault of his own is told to get off it! That’s just ludicrous.

  30. Because he lives in East Anglia so presumably he'll have flown out to Poland from there and left his vehicle at Stansted
    2 points
  31. It's not really that difficult. They used different flights. Doyle's was delayed. Lidsey's wasn't. Could easily have been the other way round. It's not an "excuse". The flight is there to be seen on the Stanstead arrivals board. He probably gets this flight every week, and it gets him here in plenty of time for Monday meetings. Unfortunate, but there you are. RyanAir for you.

  32. Then give it to them.. Another incentive to get the match on.. Edit. Ian beat me to it... And, as an aside, some ST holders might not make any rearrangement date anyway so lose out regardless..
    2 points
  33. No, but equally calling meetings off when there is nothing wrong with the weather can also cause damage in a way that isn't immediately obvious i.e. when punters are making their own minds up whether to attend a meeting weighing up the chances of whether it'll be on or not because clubs haven't been consistent with their decisions in the past
    2 points
  34. Just give both teams one point each... No one gets paid so no costs to the clubs, and also, maybe, the riders would be more inclined to ride when "less than 100%"? Which as the years go by, is becoming less and less the norm.. Apart from obviously, in October when "all of a sudden," play offs take place in all sort of conditions...

  35. not sure why this has stoked up so much controversy. witches clearly weakened by doyle’s absence. no reason doyle would choose to miss the meeting. early intervention taken by the witches management to ensure they field a competitive side…

  37. None of the other riders have been delayed as none that stupid to fly in to Stansted at 1pm. There is an airport in Manchester you know.

  40. All of this cancelling meetings shenanigans needs setting down in the rules in some way, there's far too much of it going on by many clubs in all leagues
    2 points
  41. Given the circumstances of making up that he missed a flight to avoid having to state his Polish club didn't want him to ride in the UK the day before a planned meeting there I'd say 7 days is a let off

  42. It's nice when there is a discussion thread for a particular match. But I have to say that the NDL is alive and well in Leicester. I was at the Middlesbrough match yesterday and couldn't believe the level of support. I couldn't say how many fans were there but a measure of the numbers is that the 50-50 draw prize was over £200. There was a goodly number who stayed on for the MDL match as well.

  46. I didn't see the comment in the light of 'I know something you don't'. I think it's fair for a rider to comment that there's others they'd be more concerned about on track without giving specific names. Are these things not linked though? As others have said, if it was a convicted felon going back into plumbing or mechanicing, no-one would care less. Speedway is neither important enough nor sufficiently in the public eye that there's any sort of reputational issue involved, and as much scumbag behaviour offends and appalls me, I think once you've done your time you should be able to resume a gainful working career unless the crime was related to your original employment (i.e. child abusers should never be allowed to work with children or vulnerable people).
