  1. You do realise that just because it’s an internet forum and you are using a Nick name, it doesn’t mean you can’t be sued for slander? I can’t comment on the actual test speedway does trackside as these tests differ but from my pharmacy experience for those thinking ‘oh a list is issued of banned substances’ it’s not really as simple as that. Medication can have things in it that you don’t expect - that’s how Alain Baxter lost his Olympics medal, he took a sniff of Vicks. some assume OTC meds are ok but that’s not the case - many common meds such as hay fever relief tablets can’t be used as it would make you fail the drug test. All that is before taking into account that two medications taken together can heighten the strength and effect of a drug - that’s why people used to take the OTC Co codamol with full strength Coca Cola. It is a minefield and from the basic information we have then it is probably best to wait for the lab results and comments before judging an individual. Even then though Bandits Fan, it’s wise not to open yourself up to slander accusations with random accusations Just my opinions obviously

  2. As someone who has whizzed into many a cup for work and in fact been involved in the administration for testing when I was in college. If they are using the 10 strip test kit, it will have flagged up and indicated what it's detected. Cocaine is one of the strips, opiates is another strip, amphetamine, benzodiazipine etc etc. The rider and tester will have seen what's flagged up. So they are the only ones who will know exactly which strip has flagged up. Certain OTC or Prescription painkillers will flag up containing an opiate, decongestants can flag as amphetamines. Riders should as far as I know be supplied with a list of all band substances, which they can make their doctor aware of so they prescribe around the list. But don't forget they are operating to WADA standards in a sport that's underfunded at best and riders who are part time racers full time other jobbers, they don't have nutritionists and medical teams surrounding them. If a mistake has been made from a prescription drug then consideration should be taken. If recreational drugs have been used, then the book should be flung at the rider. But watching the Keyboard warrior brigade spouting utter clueless nonsense is hilarious.

  3. Could be something perfectly innocent like medication.

  4. As a Speedway fan I really hope Complin offence is an innocent one and he’s back on track soon , too many are judging and giving there thoughts on last nights events .Speedway is in decline and negative comments aren’t helping . The law of the land is”Innocent until proven guilty “ and hope this is the case in Lee Complins .Speedway doesn’t need scandals as year on year the support is dwindling . Ps I’m not a Tigers fan I’m a speedway fan who is seeing it diminish year on year

  5. Here is a download link to the rulebook, chapter 8 covers Anti Doping & Testing. Everything is covered in there.. It’s all in the rules and every rider & official knows the process and what happens next. It doesn’t matter what football does, speedway has its own rules but tests are conducted inline with WADA rules. http://www.scbgb.co.uk/download.php?view.11233

  8. Haven't posted this year and thought I'd start with a positive. With only a few weeks into the season I have purchased two Birmingham's an Oxford a Berwick and a Peter Craven memorial along with the BSN season pass that Santa got me and I have to say the quality has been outstanding. The commentary and camera work have been fantastic, Rory is an excellent addition to the BSN crew. From a few years back when you were paying "bob" 12 quid for an iPhone stream and shocking audio it has improved ten fold, long may it continue as long as my bank balance can afford it I'll be getting as many as I can. Additionally it saves me from watching the regular weekly crap of love island, celebrity jungle crap and married at first sight.

  9. I don't think complin is guilty of any wrong doing,he wouldn't have stayed and helped team mates if he had knowingly taken recreational drugs,or alcohol. Also having spoke with him on a few occasions when he rode for Plymouth he just doesn't strike me as the type to dabble in banned substances personally I think he's a top bloke and I'd be surprised and disappointed if he's guilty of any wrong doing.

  10. Isn’t it normal practice to suspend a rider or any other sportsperson until the outcome of the second test only then can any punishment be applied ?

  11. And we nearly dropped off the page there. Can't be having that. Need to keep the struggling momentum/interest going. Although it's unlikely, Chapman might do the right thing and offload the club to those actually fighting for its survival?

  12. Too much of this thread rightly or wrongly has been dedicated to the Lee Complin discussion since last nights meeting, it would be nice to move the focus back to what was a very enjoyable meeting. I wasn’t overly high on Glasgows team coming in to the season but given they have a team full of ex Bandits and Sheilfield Park specialists I knew they would provide a stiff test at home and I’m mightily happy to come away with the victory. Lewi Kerr was impressive to say the least, I really feared the worst when it was 33-33 with four races to go but the boys were fantastic and every single one of them contributed to another good win. I am hopeful we can give them as good as run for their money at Ashfield as they did for us last night and although it will be extremely difficult to get the aggregate bonus point I wouldn’t say it is out of the question.

  15. Always loved my trips to Berwick and supported them against all other teams apart from against my own, and had great times with the Berwick fans, but this is the first time I have heard Berwick fans boo every Tigers rider during the parade, we all have a rider that we may boo at times but never a whole team, Well done to both teams for a good meeting, I thought after losing Lee we would have lost by more, and as for the accusations of what Lee has taken, we will wait and see what the official outcome is. If it is someting illegal and not a prescribed medication then whatever punishment is meted out would be deserved. I really don't like the football type behaviour that is starting to infiltrate in speedway, I have seen this at a few tracks including my own from some of the newer fans. Lets get back to being able to have a bit of banter between supporters.

  17. Hypothetically, in your opinion, should a meeting be rerun if a failed test ever turned out to be inaccurate?

  18. I imagine a lot of us have strong opinions on drug taking, drug testing and the disciplinary process, but they are best aired in the generally away from a single specific case - particularly one about which the facts are not yet known/in the public domain

  20. That's the biggest 180, I've ever seen online, doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out who eachother is. I know who forum members are they know who members are, the forum members they know they then know who members are and Boom you've been identified. Always better to keep schtum on scenarios like this until it's out in black and white, which should be in a few days. Then you can blast away or if the alternative result comes up you won't look silly.

  23. You can't really change the rules for a failed drug/alcohol test. It is written that a failure will mean exclusion from the event & no replacement is permitted. the team manager has to sign the meeting certificate to confirm all his riders are in a fit condition to compete. This issue happens every once in a while & currently we are not aware as to why the rider has supplied a non-negative sample nor weather it is for drugs or alcohol.

  24. Surely as a neutral it was better to see Pijper cover 3 of the 4 rides than a lesser rider cover all 4

  25. We'll see . It could be some medication he takes . Couple of years ago Kyle Howarth was guesting for the Monarchs against us and he failed a test and wasn't allowed to ride . Turned out it was Night Nurse and he was back riding the following week for his clubs . So too early to hang Lee out to dry yet

  26. is Benzoylecgonine not what they class as the breakdown product its whats left after you take cocaine it does not make its own cocaine in the body your liver disolves the cocaine and produces Benzoylecgonine from the cocaine cocaine if used now and then cant be traced after a few hours but the Benzoylecgonine stays for days after use do a little research

  27. The 2nd test would return the exact same result if it was poured into another £5.60 test cup. The difference and this is only my understanding, is that it goes to the laboratory where they can determine what has triggered the non negative test and the quantity remaining. If it has been declared "I have a prescription for this and this is what I have taken" then that will be confirmed or denied from the lab results. Then it would be up to the SCB as to what to do based on the results. I am 100% for clean riders and that's why the rules are in force, I just feel they have to realise the scope of "athletes" they are dealing with. I would say let's wait and see what comes in a few days and make our forum discussion based on those results.

  28. The second test done in the lab will determine what was picked up in the first test pretty sure they can tell the difference between medication drugs and cocaine now a days

  29. I think certain posters are enjoying this, we need a quick response tomorrow and move forward for the sake of the sport . Not a Glasgow fan but hoping it gets resolved soon and it’s a negative test

  31. From the laws of Football: "A person can be sent off from the time the referee goes onto the pitch for the pre-match inspection until the referee leaves the pitch after the end of the game, including during half-time, the break before extra time, extra time, half-time of extra time and penalties." So pretty much the same as speedway where the referee takes charge from the moment he arrives. The referee was within his rights to exclude Complin from the meeting

  33. In days gone by Teams used to “ borrow” a home junior. Not Ideal but a solution to 4 rider heats.

  34. The difficulty on the night is who can replace them in time? Connor Bailey was at the track, but his average is too high. On a purely practical level, it's difficult to replace a rider at such short notice, and whilst a number eight is an option, we all know teams won't take one to every meeting because it's another expense. We only used one in the playoffs because they were the playoffs (and we were already running R/R). In normal matches, no teams really going to do that. In terms of re-running a match later, I think fans might find that even worse, if they've paid to see a meeting that then doesn't count. It's a tricky problem to solve when the rider system isn't a squad system. Football teams bring more than 11 players to a match - it makes it much easier. I don't see an easy, cost effective way of doing it in speedway.

  35. There were a number of stories doing the rounds at the meeting, what you hear just depends on who you talk to. We'll just have to wait and see.

  38. Spot on Lioness. There have been lots of opinions posted regarding last night's meeting at Berwick, some I agree with some I don't but that's my opinion. There is however a big difference between offering an opinion and making statements which they claim to be a 'FACT', which one poster has done. You clearly know more about medication and testing, but I would add that I'm aware of a number of work colleagues being advised after a basic works medical to see their doctor as a urine test had indicated they could be diabetic. A blood test at their doctor's showed they weren't diabetic. I think that is another reason for the wording used by the Speedway authorities as testing at the lab can identify more clearly was has or hasn't been taken.

  40. He's already been proven not innocent, we're just waiting for him to be proved guilty now, how often does the 2nd test come back different to the first test using the same sample? The same old excuses being trotted out again just like they were in all of the cases last year.

  42. Can only blame himself if that is the case though. He’s 39 and hardly new to the sport.

  43. 100% this , as I said we all know he is proven at this level but his start to the season is a worry for us and Brum. Hopefully whatever is curtailing his scoring is sorted sooner rather than later.

  44. Don’t think Worrell was signed on the premise that 6 points away from home was good enough given that he is their 2nd Heat Leader.
    2 points
  45. I don't think so. Aside from the cost being prohibitive (who pays for it). Testing for drugs / alcohol isn't there to "catch riders out" it's there as a deterrent to stop them doing it in the first place. For example I don't get tested for drink driving every time I'm in my car at work, but I know my company could come anyday and do it. So I don't do it for two reasons 1) it's dangerous, 2) I could get caught. The same 2 reasons should are applicable for speedway riders, I'd hope like me the first reason is enough to stop them taking anything.

  46. Just because it is written doesn't mean it can't be re-written otherwise we'd still be living under laws from the middle ages. What if it had been Harris & Flint who had been tested and failed, would you still be saying the same? As far as the club (and fans) is concerned what is the difference between a riders non appearance due to a failed drugs test and any other reason?
    2 points
  47. If it's something like a Lemsip or Night Nurse that causes a rider to provide a non-negative sample I still find it strange that this would happen especially after all the publicity from recent events . These types of medications are can cause drowsiness, that's one of the reasons they are banned . Surely by now riders know what's on the banned list and I'm sure team bosses will have stressed to their riders to be careful about what they are taking . If it's something stronger the I've no sympathy for any rider who fall foul of the testing regime. They're bound to know that there's always a chance that they might get tested. In both scenarios it's sheer stupidity if you get caught,.

  49. If, a big if, it is drugs or alcohol related it’s good to know the testers are out and about early in the season. Must be good for the sport IF it is a testing fail.
