  1. It wouldn't, but years ago bikes could be ridden in any conditions, riders were prepared to ride in any conditions and the public turned up in any conditions. It's frustrating but I'd much rather an early call than pay to get in and see Buster going round and round with the blade while fourteen riders who have no intention of riding anyway stand about with arms folded looking miserably at the track and the sky. Been there, done that too many times.

  3. LMAO! Put out social media posts just after 2:00 PM promoting tomorrow's meeting. Put out more social media posts just before 5:00 PM postponing tomorrow's meeting. This is one for Speedway Shambles on X/Twitter.

  4. Instead of criticising, I'd like to see you coal carrying for our entertainment like the brave coal carriers do.. Risking bad backs each time they compete just so that we can watch our favourite sport.. Although, they now use that smokeless coal which doesnt give off the same smell and amount of dirt on your hands and face that I remember when I first started watching coal carrying in the late 60's... And since the 80's and all Thatcher's pit closures, chances for young British coal carriiers have reduced massively, with many now working in Poland as the Poles have kept most of their coal mines open, with the result being coal carrying is still really popular over there.. And dont get me started on the ridiculous guest coal carriers rule, and the CCR facilty, both of which get used far too many times to cover missing coal carriers., many of whom are coal carrying elsewhere on the same days UK competitions takes place.. Or they cannot attend due to following their own international coal carrying dreams and ambitions on the world coal carrying stage... Arthur Scargill must be turning in his grave.. Edit (If he was dead, thanks RJ72)

  5. Think Celina should just be left to get on with it.She doesn’t deserve all this bickering over whether she is good enough or not,she it giving it her best shot.Time will tell.

  6. Arthur is still alive and kicking. 86 years old

  7. It was time for Tom to move, his scoring around Ashfield last season was patchy a lot of the time. Don’t get me wrong he was a good fit for Glasgow when we managed to get him onboard when Eastbourne sadly folded . Very likeable young man who should go on and have a good career.

  9. Some on here have been saying for quite a while now that Promoters should be Promoting the sport. Workington bring in a female rider and are accused of it being a PR stunt. They just can't win, can they?

  10. After calling off a few meetings last year when all the fans were in the stadium, you'd think Oxford would be praised for calling it off early? As they are racing in all 3 leagues, there's no way they want any postponements, so they must have been sure the track wasn't raceable.

  11. If you would tie me down to who I think will win the Play Off Final, I would say that Ipswich are the team I would pick. And if the trend of what has happened in recent seasons then Ipswich will do it. 2021 Peterborough Champions Belle Vue Beaten Finalist 2022 Belle Vue Champions Sheffield Beaten Finalist 2023 Sheffield Champions Ipswich Beaten Finalist

  12. Was largely absent when we really needed performances in big meetings, he had a few good rides just not many. After 2.5 years at GLA would frustratingly still run the inside when the racing line had long since moved up high. No surprises he wasn't re-signed. Vissing on the other hand, I hope Leon finds his Ashfield knack quickly.

  13. It can be lots of reasons. They might want a challenge at a different track, they might not like the travel, somewhere else might fit in better with other commitments, they might want different people around them, a better deal, perhaps they can ride at a slightly different position somewhere else, maybe they just feel they need a change to unlock something that feels missing. Or maybe they just want to mess with people’s thoughts on internet forums! Probably not a high priority that, actually…

  14. May 31 is the first time both teams have a blank Friday on the same night. Glasgow currently show that as reserved for KO CUP semi while May 17 is shown as reserved for BSN semi. Anyone know the opposite of a rain dance?!

  15. and thats Glasgow all over . they want everything NOW . not willing to watch young riders develop over time and lose out apart from the odd bit of silverware . but that is their choice .

  20. Possibly because they team they've announced may not be the 1-7 that's declared?!

  21. Looking at my weather app , it's showing 94% chance of rain on Friday for Armadale

  22. Was it not a case of misunderstanding that he wasn’t resigned? Thought he had initially intimated he wasn’t doing the Championship this year and by the time he decided, Glasgow had made moves. Think he could come back and bite us on the bum when Poole visit.

  23. Well the rain in Oxford last night was very heavy. This morning I was working about half a mile from the stadium and there was a couple of heavy downpours. Maybe they shouldve waited for you Pirate fans to brave the journey north and then called it off.

  24. Apparently there has been no rain in Oxford according to other fans on twitter. Was surprised when it was called off as Oxford keep meetings on when they have hours of rain. Very strange. They didn't leave the hose on did they? Like BV did that time.

  25. Wow....forecast doesn't look that threatening on the met office for tomorrow? Guess the foreign riders dictate things these days (travelling etc...,)

  26. Just a bit of sarcasm because they seem to be calling off days in advance now.

  28. In Toms case travelling was becoming an issue with his continental commitments. In this case it probably suited both parties, agree with you on Connor.

  29. Would agree the forecasts suggest the weather is to get worse and if todays weather is anything to go by no chance for Friday.

  30. He is still one of GB best prospects IMO.

  31. Nobody on the forum really knows what goes on behind the scenes regarding what riders really want to do.Personally I though Glasgow would have kept Tom but with averages and everything else you will never know.

  33. Not really, it's a numbers game and you can't have everyone back from a title winning team.

  34. Glasgow didn't let Bewley go. He was a Belle Vue rider and decided to leave Glasgow. Connor is still a Glasgow 'asset' and is progressing nicely. Last year we chose not to use him and we won the Championship. Last year Tom was getting stick from some fans overhis home form, wrongly in my opinion, and rumour suggests he didn't really want to come back. When clubs are limited by a points limit every year, there will always be difficult decisions to make when building a team and hard decisions will have to be made.

  35. Another young rider we've let go at the wrong time. Bewley and Bailey being two others that we didn't get any benefit from after their development years with us

  37. If you'd tuned into Sports Day on the BBC News channel at 6:30 yesterday you would have seen a report on the World Coal Carrying Championships being held earlier in the day... and no, sadly it was no April Fool

  38. Wish we could……….lol A few Pirates’ fans maybe changing their minds about not initially wanting Tom in the side?

  39. Well done... Get yourself down to the track and watch some of the best riders in the world, even if they are riding for the opposition... I certainly didn't see last night mentioned on any satellite or MSM outlets, with the result being commiserated or celebrated by maybe 4,000 at most from both teams... So just watch the racing, particularly at Brum, as I seem to remember they didn't exactly "pull up any trees"' in Div 2 too regularly, so, even if another "no success season", you get to watch Messrs Sayfutdinov, Doyle, Bewley, Holder et al.. Be a shame to lose another track due to fan indifference, particularly in a small sport where the team who finishes bottom won't be missing out on any major financial rewards nor face any relegation risk.. A track where the owner has put his hand so deep into his pocket, and wants to see the club move to its own site... Will hopefully get down to Brum when the Aces are in town...

  41. They were I agree. Feel a bit for Jenkins. The lad was a rising star last year, moved to senior reserve this year and two meetings in moves to number 2 in the main body! That’s harsh especially when you look at Leicester’s top 5 and who he was up against. He was mixing it though and was on the pace. Rew temporarily dropping to reserve might be seen as some as an advantage, but personally the quicker Rew and Jenkins swap back again the better for Ipswich as a team. Just looks more balanced with Rew able to hold his own in the main body and Jenkins contributing more from the reserve berth where he should be. Tie should be in the bag for Ipswich and with all due respect, Birmingham in the semi finals should comfortably see them in the final again. As for Leicester, I’d probably be glad this wasn’t a league fixture. Think I’d rather lose an early home cup fixture than an early home league defeat which can leave you chasing the pack from the get go.

  42. As much as I’ve criticised rogers in the past, how on earth can you blame him for any of the teams performances this season? He didn’t pick the riders this season, the management team as a whole did, rogers merely did the phone calls. as for the way the team is performing, the way the team is being run and the changes being made or, not made on race nights, this is NOTHING to do with Laurence this season. Those decisions are being made by Sam Ermolenko and Chris Adam’s. i didn’t expect t this current 1-7 ( that’s with Pawlicki, not NICHOLLS ), to win a meeting all season but I’ve been pleasantly surprised by our efforts in every meeting up until tonight. So much so, that I went to tonight’s meeting actually daring to think that we were in with the chance to get not only the win on the night but, to also have a chance of getting the bonus point. More fool me !!! This was our worst performance of the season . Three riders should have gone home ashamed of themselves tonight but if you had been there, you would have seen that Flint did well and didn’t deserve to be taken out of his last ride. cook was riding in the team not at reserve where he has done reasonably well so far so, he can be excused to a degree Brennan was outstanding as was Nicholls . how can a rider as experienced as Milik forget to turn his fuel on! What a numpty. You can’t blame Laurence Rogers for that now can you ? you can’t blame rogers if many many top riders turned us down and we had to make the most of those who would ride for us . Ritchie Worrall went on public record as saying it was disgusting that NO TEAM had offered his brother a team place then surprise, surprise, he is suddenly a Birmingham rider …. The one team desperately struggling to sign seven riders…. You can’t surely put the blame for that solely on the shoulders of Laurence rogers now can you ? Pawlicki getting injured pre season, was nothing to do with Rogers. That injury completely altered the way the team would have been set up and meant several riders were having to ride out of their planned position snd, Milik having to ride at number one where he was never going to cope. That was not laurence rogers fault. Pawlicki is back on Thursday and the team should be better balanced . I’ve been to every meeting so far home snd away and will be at kings Lynn on Thursday when our season truly begins. get your backside down to Perry Barr for the next meeting and support both the management snd the riders and let’s all hope our fortunes take a turn for the better

  46. I'll repost this: The current rider shortage of UK riders is down to one thing Grasstrack both adult & schoolboy it has become almost none exististent in the UK & that is where 80% of all British riders came from. The BSPL should work with the ACU to encourage a revival of ACU clubs to run Grasstrack meetings.
