  1. Usual old chestnut about admission charges, Everything else has gone up but for some people speedway promoters are expected to somehow absorb their increased costs.

  2. Just out of interest, does everyone think that birmingham didn't ask riss , thorssell, Lindgren etc during the winter? Personally I expect they have all been asked and refused for various reasons and the club have landed with the best they could get. Is it not time to start to back the club ( turn up tomorrow would help) and stop trying to knock the club down before a wheel has turned.

  3. Riders make demands and no doubt promoters decide whether a certain rider is worth it within the constraints of their budget. In the case of Claus I would imagine an amicable compromise was reached because he has only signed in the last few days. Why wouldn't he be bothered about riding for the team ? doesn't make sense to him financially plus I don't believe it is in his make up not to try. Comets have been in a difficult position this season having to start team building when most other clubs had their riders signed up. Being a weekend track also brings the Poland scenario into the equation. All in all I think under the circumstances they have put together a team that should at the very least be strong at home. For a first season back that is very important.

  4. Think Claus is just the rider this team needs, should score well at home on a track that will suit his style of riding, he is not afraid to assert himself on track and is a personable guy who will be a good team man. All in all from the available options I'm more than happy. Well done the promotion and a big welcome back to Claus.

  5. After heat 2 it's irrelevant what number the reserves are at as they get swapped around more than a Kate Middleton photo

  6. Out of all the Championship teams, Workington's results will be the ones I check first. The composition of the team intrigues me and I sincerely hope they do well.

  7. Courtney was jailed for being involved in drug dealing.Dont think he failed a test at speedway.

  8. Not too bothered going to be an entertaining team, hopefully winning at home and gradually getting better away, some tough away fixtures this season .

  9. Miss our trips to Highbridge especially for the Pairs . Always a good excuse to have a few days in Somerset which we never failed to enjoy, great County. Really shocked when the Rebels announced their closure , very sad loss for you fans and speedway more generally.

  10. Provided he can stay injury free, I always thought of him as a solid signing. Coming from an ex Somerset supporter I can tell you guys you’re in for a hell of a ride. Your set up reminds a lot of the Rebels in the early days. Enjoy it , and hope something just doesn’t come from nowhere ( in our case Covid) and smashes it. All the best for the new season.

  13. I know guest's & rider replacement are at times annoying within the British leagues. But we cannot be compared to other nations league system where they opperate a squad of upto 20 riders but can only track 7 just the same as our programme. In both cases if a rider is injured or unable to start then of course a full 7 rider team must be arranged. With a squad this is done as in football by rotation of the squad members. Our system means each team has a nominated 7 rider team & should one be missing we track a full team using guests or R/R. At the end of the day it amounts to the same thing two teams of seven racing against each other. Weather you love or hate our system it's better to see two full sides of seven than a five man team

  14. Wasn't Courtney banned once for failing a drug test? May not of been , it would of been a while ago. Garrity was allegedly into all sorts of drugs but that seemingly isn't the issue. Roger Lobb and Frank Smart were banned for failed tests yet came back and were successful - Smart's best season was the year he came back after he was banned. Its the crimes Garrity committed whilst under the influence of drugs that sit badly with anyone with any self respect or morals. Mugging OAPs is one of the lowest crimes you can commit. No excuses , drug addict or not.

  15. Irrelevant now but should Birmingham have been allowed to carry on in the Championship on a Monday? Only Belle Vue are a Monday track, the rest race on Thursdays. Of course Prem clubs have priority, but Birmingham could've picked a team minus any Belle Vue riders. Then sorted the fixtures (not many these days) so their opponents weren't missing riders based on who is racing at Belle Vue. May have to allow the occasional guest, but who would even notice, with the amount of guests used these days anyway?

  16. Doesn’t matter what points are available and what you can supposedly afford (money not really a stumbling block as I recall, according to the management before the final 1 to 7 were declared), riders have to want to ride for you.

  18. So genuine question, what options do Plymouth have on Saturday if they haven’t found anyone? I’m guessing they won’t be allowed to use R/R?

  19. Can't say it's very weak at 3 & 4 till you see them ride. Normally I'd agree & put Vissing at 3, but as someone said - let's them see the track before their first outing. If it doesn't work, can change the riding order for the official matches.

  20. Claus should have a good opening weekend riding at Number 2, strong rider to have in that position. James said the line-up for Fri/Saturday will be; 1. Cookie 2. Vissing 3. Antti 4. Tate 5. Batchelor 6. Sam 7. Celina And then might change for the Home fixture on Sunday.

  21. Hopefully nobody touches him if/when he’s available again… made himself look a right tool with his high and mighty innocent statement after he’d already failed a drugs test… more importantly though let his team down badly.

  22. I didn’t say he was signed two months ago. I said talks were stuck due to wage demands on what Vissing wanted and what Workington were prepared to pay. One way or another they have worked it out and come to the tapes with a decent lineup. Wish them successful season, but with an empty trophy cabinet.

  23. Was plenty times he wasn’t interested when he rode for us, and there was plenty times he was injured too

  24. A reminder of Worrall`s suspension, looks like he`ll be available from June 5th. That doesn`t exactly help Plymouth who need a rider in the next few days. http://scbgb.co.uk/news.php?extend.165.1

  26. You have to remember " comets" started behind every other team with team building, that and poland hasnt helped but i think we could surprise a few fans up and down the country.all riders look good on there own but the young aussie looked real good at practice on sat.

  27. Yes, Wow what a meeting. Took out the subscription. Well worth 13 Euros just for this meeting alone!!!! Excellent work THE DAVES!!!! & the Motottv crew. Thought Ref Topinka bottled a couple of calls. Jell should have been excluded at turn 1 crash. Svensson rode inside track in one heat & Huusko caused Weber crash. In my opinion. Best Ice meet I have seen. Bet it was a great atmosphere in Inzell after the meeting.

  28. Do you know this…..or are you just making it up?….lol. Claus always gives his best in my opinion and any contract details are between him and the management. I’m sure they know what they’re doing.

  29. Seems to be a lot of individuals. So be interesting to see how they get on especially with team riding. Hopefully Darcy has emphasised it to Tate as he was always really good at that from a young age.

  30. Because someone asked a question & people keep replying. I'll add mine, Birmingham have strength in depth but lack heat leader strength. Riss isn't really the rider needed to improve the team.

  33. Clearly wasn’t keen on signing and has pushed for more money, that was the obvious signing in December and it’s taken until March. Might not be good for team spirit, if he’s on more money than he’s worth, and/or isn’t bothered about riding for the team.

  36. So every team is 'weaker', so 'riders should score more points'??? If only admission prices were based purely on rider points!!

  37. From what I gather the promotion had to work too, the deal was only done recently so I think yhe budget could still be in place imo

  42. His away average was a point higher than what he’s been signed on, so he’ll be fine. He’s the best value rider on the league, on a rolling average/2023 average basis.

  43. After all that, a pleasant surprise, and the best signing Workington could have made.

Those that have lost clubs never loose hope it may take years to get it back it may never come back but, Support the sport we lost our club many years ago and since have travelled all over the Uk to watch various teams and events, since we lost ours we started a family and the sport has gained a couple of supports! Don’t give up on it
