Dodgy Tel announces he's found a perfect new place for Speedway, so it's OK to knock the Abbey down. Dopey Swindon council fall for this, and allow the Abbey Stadium to be knocked down and houses built. Tel Boy hits a snag and the perfect new stadium can't be built after all. Swindon council say "never mind, you tried your best" Osbourne hands a brown envelope each to Tel Boy and the Council leader. Osbourne moves on to rinse and repeat at the next town.2 points

Agree to disagree. saying joe found it tough, probably too soon for him to be riding at this level is being realistic, calling an 18 year old kid awful is unnecessary imo.2 points

Whereabouts Iain?.. Sounds absolutely perfect... Let all involved know... Maybe you could be eligible to get a 20% finders fee for finding it?2 points

Perhaps they could do a follow up piece listing those efforts so that we can all enjoy the efforts that Chapman made behind the scenes? I saw bugger all out in the open in public!2 points

Interview with one of the bravest of the brave. Incredible details I wasn't aware of. If it doesn't make you cry then I doubt you have any emotion. Ultimately though a story of incredible bravery, hope, determination and fortitude over the most awful injuries. Respect for all concerned.1 point

Being a "glass is half full" kind of guy, I am at least positive that Terry Russell released this statement as the silence since the statement that they had located somewhere to build a track was deafening. So, let's play a game. Let's assume this is true that there is a location found that is a similar distance from Swindon centre as Blunsdon. Foxhill Moto Parc, surely? Obvious place to put a speedway track. Why release this if it isn't true? I'm sure there are many theories regarding that! In the meantime, we can only hope.1 point

No point asking the current fan base as they will turn up whatever. The powers that be need to be looking at what will entice new supporters in other wise the sport doesn’t have a future. One thing for certain is that the poles will call the shots & there isn’t much the uk can do about that & we only have ourselves to blame. while we have been busy devaluing the product on offer here the poles have equally as busy making their product something that tv, business & the public want to be part of……hence they are in a strong position to dictate to us.1 point

i subscribe to the the Star but haven't fully read the article yet . I was there at Hackney that night on the 4th bend where the sickening crash occurred. Milo ( "The Red Knight" ) was making great strides.at Hackney and wowing the fans every week with his daredevil swoops round the fence. Tragic crash. Hackney was an outstanding race track but the lamp standards there at that time caused many injuries, indeed worse. It is brilliant that they now have to be away from fence and have air fences. If Milo had had that crash today very likely he would have got up and walked away.1 point

I’ve not seen it personally but I think the banking is now a constant gradient instead of flattering out 2/3 of the way up.1 point

Loads of great pics on the Gladiators facebook page showing progress with all the track work. Lights are back up, airfence up and tested, etc etc1 point

Absolutely this Brandon estates only hope is that stock cars and speedway somehow disappears at some stage in the future removing the loss of the stadium argument. But as the toadmeister said before have they deep enough pockets to keep losing money. they bought the land evicted motorsports and have had no return on it for seven years ,only costs. maybe it’s loose change for BE maybe not up the bees1 point

Admittedly my nearest track is about an hour and a half away from me now, but I havn’t been to a single speedway match since Somerset closed down. I travelled all over the country and beyond to away matches for a number of years. I’ll watch it on the TV, especially Polish leagues, but half of the appeal of going every week and paying admission was to watch my team.1 point

They’re starting early to ensure that all of those blank weeks in the middle of the summer when it’s lovely weather outside and prime conditions for speedway, everybody can sit round and do nothing to allow for 3 matches in a week and double headers in September and October. All part of the plan!1 point

I'd be thinking that locals will be attracted by the concept of seeing their very own GP star (and former) Comet in action around Northside.....1 point

all 4 off them if on form will be good round northside looking forward to the meeting1 point

I would think the clubs priority is ‘developing’ rather than winning but I do hope the crowd sticks with it to make it worth while as even I can see a couple of large defeats coming.1 point

I was there for the afternoon meeting, later saw the evening meeting on Anglia TV. London Docklands Arena was the name. I do remember the leak in the roof.1 point

I don't know. What comes next? Declare the winners of the Star Championsips of the early 30s as world champions as well? Don't mess with historic facts. Those meetings never were contested as world championships. I am against any retrospective change of historic facts.1 point

Yes,Tolley would've benefitted from signing cvs , instead of Sam! Bham support will eventually dwindle to a non going concern whilst LR is orchestrating things! That is a fact!0 points
