Re the Celina issue - nothing new under the sun - the 1970 Internationale at Wimbledon featured, for the first time in British speedway, a Japanese rider Jimmy Ogisu ahead of more worthy riders purely because of the novelty aspect. He wasn't expected to make much of an impression and didn't, scoring just a single point. I'm not suggesting that Celina is a novelty but you get my drift. I wish Celina well and hopes she bags a good few points.

Bit late to post this this as he actually passed away on January 9th, but sad to hear the death of Lokeren survivor Garry Hay. Good obituary in this weeks Star. Having escaped with minimal injuries at Lokeren it was so sad when the following Australian season he suffered life changing injuries which left him wheelchair bound. Mixed feelings about that. Yes the new riders would attract more supporters and get some practice in on their new track. There is also the chance that with such a great field in Bonanza meetings, new riders signed on lower averages might not look their best against the stronger field. Just make sure they are all there on the day and presented to the crowd. That gives them the chance to see how the riders prepare, how they ride their track and what lines to chose and why.

Cook will be great as long as he's there. Hopefully being closer to home will help, and he can put some of the issues of the recent past behind him. I wouldn't trust Batch full stop. His antics at the pairs showed it all, for me.

Technically the existence of a grandstand is not on the list of "must haves" in the Speedway Board of Control Regulations. At the worst a few plastic seats screwed into a few rows of concrete steps was enough to seat a few oldies at Rye House just before it closed down, so as long as the steps are there and there are some seats on eBay, seating could be a feature alongside the current track. Peterborough Speedway Ltd is still apparently registered as a viable company at Companies House - normal sports operations are currently suspended pending agreement with the land owners for suitable land to restore the track/mandatory facilities to the satisfaction of the SCB and for a promoter to be appointed. The suspension was enforced by the lack of an agreement between the club owners and the developers. The planning regulations do not allow a developer to close down a viable sporting facility just for the purpose of development without making suitable alternative arrangements. (it looks as though that even applies to wonky pubs as well!). Suspension is not closure! And I am sure the fans are still prepared to object to the development of the EoESG.

If people have issues over an additional £3 then they really shouldn't be spending £20 on going to speedway anyway as there are real life priorities to be taken care of. I would hope nobody would spend money on any sporting event over food, heating, bills and essential clothing.

Again, something we are already miles behind on in comparison to Poland. All clubs over there already have to do this and use a set template with league sponsors all positioned the same on each club’s shirt, along with their role and which rider they are representing. It looks very professional although probably not an essential, given some of the costs already facing teams in this country. All this about limiting riders to only 1 mechanic and health and safety is a load of nonsense too.

She might have to be when she's ridden a few matches with little return...have a women's competition yes but riding with the males....well just hope she doesn't get hurt,unless she can gate that is!

I'd say there is a very good chance that every single one of those riders will be doing the Polish Leagues on a Sunday and therefore unable/unwilling to ride on a Saturday over here.

I agree and in league racing each rider should be limited to one mechanic and get the rest of the hangers on out of the pits and that includes riders not riding, girlfriends, and any other hanger on and there are many

His Foxhall form was sensational for the last 2 seasons but last year he had 0 last places at home! from 57 races 150 points! I suspect he has a few more seasons in him yet too! Injuries permitting. One of the best bits of a meeting at Foxhall is hoping he misses the gate which he can do and then work his way through from the back!

The 'Polsat Plus Arena' is not the speedway stadium in Gdansk, but the 40,000 capacity football stadium! This will be something similar to what we already have in Warsaw and Cardiff with a temporary speedway track.
