Give the lass a break, the superstars ride the same tracks week in and still say on tv they are looking for the right " set up" !3 points

Im just waiting for someone to give the argument about team suits being a bad idea because they can’t identify them or because it means they can’t show off their individual character…. Get with the times!3 points

But Kvech QUALIFIED ( from the GP Challenge by being third best rider not otherwise qualified)2 points

one of the annoying parts is seeing a rider with 2 bikes sitting in the pits, but if they have an issue with their first bike they are quick to jump on someone elses. if the 2nd bike is there, use it, have it ready to go.2 points

Bit of a gamble, agreed, but they are both capable of increasing their averages as well. Interesting team, to say the least.1 point

Technically the existence of a grandstand is not on the list of "must haves" in the Speedway Board of Control Regulations. At the worst a few plastic seats screwed into a few rows of concrete steps was enough to seat a few oldies at Rye House just before it closed down, so as long as the steps are there and there are some seats on eBay, seating could be a feature alongside the current track. Peterborough Speedway Ltd is still apparently registered as a viable company at Companies House - normal sports operations are currently suspended pending agreement with the land owners for suitable land to restore the track/mandatory facilities to the satisfaction of the SCB and for a promoter to be appointed. The suspension was enforced by the lack of an agreement between the club owners and the developers. The planning regulations do not allow a developer to close down a viable sporting facility just for the purpose of development without making suitable alternative arrangements. (it looks as though that even applies to wonky pubs as well!). Suspension is not closure! And I am sure the fans are still prepared to object to the development of the EoESG.1 point

Putting 2 and 2 together Always dangerous but... Lewy has enquired about Danny Phillips average. Was told it was 2.01. Jusr supposing they binned Jacob Hook 4.00 Wouls allow 10.23 by my calculation to get a bid hitter with 1.99 saving plus Covatti average and the 0.48 they were under the limit with Covatti. A 10.23 rider if they could find one, more likely on a Tuesday, would upset the proverbial applecart ???1 point

There's no doubt its for publicity but the majority of the up and coming Brits would struggle to score points in the field that's been assembled so far. And a good few of those are hitting above a 4 point assessed average in the Championship. Someone's got to come last, if it helps get more exposure, then great!1 point

But is there any rider available that would turn this team into a play-offs chasing team? 99% of (non Plymouth) fans had them down for bottom with Covatti. Not seen any suggestions of a rider that fits who is a big improvement on Covatti.1 point

Maybe she will, but it's extra time on the bike, so, therefore, helping with set-up and everything that goes with it.1 point

I dont know if still the case, but i believe Crayford are running 7 meetings there. Iwade is allowed 14 "public" days a year. I believe in 2024 the Kings and Crayford are having an even split.1 point

Assume that's MT? He doesn't have to, that's the point. If PCC do their job then any planning approval will only be granted when AEPG meet LP36 & LP30 of the Peterborough Local Plan. AEPG are doing their best get out of any responsibility within the local plan to their destruction of an important part of Peterborough's culture and history. An e-mail I received Aug 2023 from the EEAS suggests that AEPG don't really know whether to stick or twist on this? "AEPG may have had discussions with the current speedway operators as well as the local authority regarding the possibility of relocating to another site" Peterborough Speedway would have a much better chance of returning to the track sooner rather than later if someone interested in that objective was the owner. Whether any of those unsubstantiated claims against Chapman ever get answered or clarified I no longer care, but he does himself no favours by continuing hold on to the licence of a club that he has no interest in. A good businessman can negotiate a sensible deal (what is he selling now anyway?) with future eventualities clauses in if the new owners are successful. The fact that he can't or will not do that only feeds the rumour mill.1 point

Yep, there seems to be a mindset that we never had all this stuff in the seventies when the sport was booming in the UK so why do we need it now? We are fifty years on now, the world, sport and speedway has moved on and anything that can be done to make speedway more presentable and professional needs to be put in place. It's not as if people are scratching their heads trying to think how, the template is there in Poland and has been for years. The attitude over here is too much about cutting ones cloth too neatly sometimes, sensible speculation will lead to better accumulation in the long run with people who are currently outside speedway.1 point

02.2.9 Pit Marshal To assist the Clerk of Course and specifically to: - a) ensure during a meeting (15 minutes before heat 1 until 15 minutes after the last heat) that only rider, mechanics and officials (including TV crews/press/photographers) who have signed the ‘Meeting Signing On’ form, with a duty may remain in the pits. Anyone under the age of 16, must be SCB Registered. b) report any non-compliance of: - i) non-smoking, vaping rules ii) riding in the pits area c) position all motorcycles in a manner that facilitates quick and easy identification d) ensure riders and motorcycles are marshalled in readiness for the following heat e) keep the pit gate closed at all times, especially during track maintenance and opened only to allow access to and ingress from the track for racing f) prevent unauthorised persons from entering or remaining on the infield or track during racing. In the event of a race stoppage permit1 point

Again, something we are already miles behind on in comparison to Poland. All clubs over there already have to do this and use a set template with league sponsors all positioned the same on each club’s shirt, along with their role and which rider they are representing. It looks very professional although probably not an essential, given some of the costs already facing teams in this country. All this about limiting riders to only 1 mechanic and health and safety is a load of nonsense too.1 point

Well done to Glasgow on engaging with fans during the off season & keeping interest alive. A load of clubs out there could do with following their lead.1 point

Not true. Each club can set its own admission policy, some are one rider one mechanic, a lot are one rider one mechanic and one guest . Each club also has its own H&S officer and a Clerk of the Course who should sort any issues out as regards issues in the pits. How they cope at Sheffield always amazed me !1 point

I thought EVERY rider had to be available to ride for Scunthorpe on a Friday.....1 point

Speedway is part of the entertainment industry, and a priority for any entertainment business is getting bums on seats. Celina will probably put more bums on seats than any other rider in the field, so of course she's there on merit. With the PCMT field usually being around GP standard, she'll struggle to pick up points, but she's certainly good enough to pick up points in the Championship for Workington in a second string/senior reserve role.1 point

Couple of points (a) I wonder if it's time to have a dedicated NORA section to make it easier to follow IOW and Kent (and anyone else who may join) (b) I suspect the Owner of Iwade can make as much money / more money from hiring out for Track Days and Practices as he can from renting to Kent ? (c) I hope that IOW and Kent and other dormant Clubs joining in with the NORA supported Fixtures WON'T be black-balled by the BSPL for doing so, should they wish to return. It seems Kent were very shabbily treated last season, as IOW have been in the past. Other dormant clubs currently too must NOT be penalised for riding under NORA supervision. Sadly the treatment of Kent and IOW suggests that the current BSPL hierarchy will do all they can to try to punish and prevent them from running successful operations under NORA. The Sport needs all the participant it can find and not helped by the petiness of the BSPL. At least there seems to be more friendly overtures from the ACU according to the Speedway Star this week.1 point
