  1. The rule has made it a closed shop as no unattached rider will get a guest booking as clubs will take the easy option of giving the spot to a guest reserve. With only 10 matches anyway , scattered over seven months , there is little opportunity for ANY youngster just starting out to impress as we have heard nothing about the other proposed events. Combine this with the rule in the youth championship of a specific cut off for a birthday thereby eliminating a few new youngsters because they are the oldest in their school year yet some of their classmates qualify it simply makes life even more difficult to get the chance to progress. Very disappointing decision by someone who is supposed to be all about development.

  6. There is very little kudos (if any) to be gained by the BSPA making effort to promote the scenario you refer. The BBC correctly understand what is newsworthy i.e that they have a contestant whos runs a business that provides pies to Manchester City FC (currently the most successful club in world football) this is significant in a competition aimed at finding a business entrepreneur. Conversely they would see little relevance in saying one of their contestants use to ride for a speedway clubs junior team.

  7. Were you hoping it would be on the BBC 6 o’clock news? It’s been on everything else !

  9. Very childish, do you never read your posts back to yourself and think how much rubbish you put on here? If you don't, maybe start and then everyone else doesn't have to waste time reading your garbage !

  11. There are still opportunities though. So many sports have disappeared behind pay per view, so much rubbish thrust in our faces on terrestrial, I include obscure live FA cup matches controlling the tv schedule all the time. The six nations might be the the next tournament to disappear as it isn't protected like the Rugby World Cup is. I hate football with a passion there are many tens of millions like me out there.

  12. What it does Andy as you well know because it worked for you (Luke) is that the team missing a res now can cherry pick a res from another team who is flying and yet again a rider trying to get a 1st chance like billy and others won’t be asked, stinks, and you know it, denials only add to the problem, it’s a joke, develop not stagnation, if you are missing a res for god sake who cares, put a kid in, if they are tailed off so what, at least they have had a chance and can assess themselves going forward

  14. Got to wonder how many teams would have signed different riders if they had another 0.25 to play with?

  15. Absolutely not, but the new rules mean riders like Luke Crang or Tom Woolley can ride forever in the development league for fun, but riders like Max Clegg & Ben Morley can't. I actually think the Morley's & Clegg's are needed more, to let the top developing riders know they are ready to step up into the Champ. If you can beat them, you're ready to move up.

  16. I'm certainly not very excited about the NL this year. When I look at the teams I don't see a lot of riders & think to myself, wow that's a team with lots of potential, I more think, there's a bunch of riders who aren't good enough / haven't improved enough / will never make it into the Champ. Having riders racing for a hobby, or Career NL second strings / reserves actually never bothered me in previous years, really when they kinda screamed it's a DEVELOPMENT league to us this year, I see all the flaws of their plan. To me it just looks a very weak league. Obviously Max Perry not getting a team spot greatly annoys me, a 16 year old in his first Champ season is exactly the sort of rider the NL should be designed for imo. After two seasons in the NL, it's sink or swim for him in the Champ. I mostly blame Leicester for this, signing Joe T over Perry goes against the new "ethos" of the league imo.

  17. Certainly appears so, medals for everyone who turns up.....spectators that is as whats on show will be of little reward. Few years ago the NL was a viable competitor to the CL, now that has been diluted the NDL has to follow suit, to the point that its almost an unviable product. Can't imagine any club will get gates of more than a couple of hundred this season.
