  1. Thank you Oliver Holt on the excellent article in the Daily Mail. Now as a thought, would't it be nice if he followed this up with an article about the going ons at Swindon? Perhaps the new proposed development at Torquay United and out-of-twon stadium by the same owners?

  2. A dress rehearsal? Are the promoters going to "adjust" the Championship points limit to allow Workington to sign Freddie for their final team spot? I'll get my coat.

  3. A great servant to British Speedway, you always knew he was going to be at a meeting, no mysterious illnesses, van breakdowns, always gave 100% and showed enjoyment when he won races with his straight arm fist pump. Always supported British Speedway when others were jumping ship. Probably should have been World Champion when he was riding at his absolute peak (when he was Hans N Andersen ) if he could have combined his form from 2007 & 2008... who knows? I can't ever remember seeing a better exponent of the block pass, hard riding up the inside of a rider and just parking it in front of him, I'd never really seen that before. I hope he gets granted a farewell meeting, he fully deserves it!

  5. Hopefully we will get a better indication of the rules for the league and a FIXTURE LIST this year.

  9. I attended the excellently run Nuneaton Speedway Supporters club event last night in Brandon and came away thoroughly impressed and well entertained by Dan Gilkes and Jason Edwards. What an excellent night, and what great ambassadors for the sport are these 2 riders. They fielded a whole host of questions concerning their careers and hopes and aspirations for their future and spoke confidently and eloquently throughout the evening. About 40 people attended on a bitterly cold winters night but in my opinion it was well worth the effort. If you live within reasonable driving distance of Brandon, then I can highly recommend these evenings with Chris Harris being the guest next month. Well done to all concerned and thanks to Dan & Jason for a really enjoyable evening. From a Leicester Lions supporter.

  10. I fully agree with all your comments. Two confident and professional youngsters, without being cocky. For the record the evening with Bomber is on Tuesday 20th February at 8:00 p.m. The venue is Brandon Club, Main Street, Brandon, Coventry, CV8 3HW https://www.nuneatonspeedwaysupportersclub.co.uk/

  13. I concur with other posters. Hans was a great servant to British speedway and was always good with the fans and media. Sad to see him struggle last season. I'm also glad that he's retired on his own terms without any long term injuries. Thanks Hans, hope to see you around the tracks.

  14. Very sad news. Like a few others on here, I remember Brian well from the old days and had some great discussions with him. It always seemed like the sport didn't take best advantage of having someone so talented involved with the sport. RIP Brian.

  15. Or it shows just how hard people are working in and around the stadium to improve the track and ultimately the racing. Of course I’m biased being a Plymouth fan but I actually think the pictures give a real truth behind what happens in off seasons and I’d like to think most fans will empathise with the challenges faced to help a club improve their product.

  16. This isn’t a one-off adjustment, the seasonal points limit has been increased. NATIONAL Development League clubs have unanimously agreed to a slight increase to this season’s points limit. The mark had been set at 36 following the third tier’s AGM last November, but it has now been raised to 36.25.

  18. I think the salient point is that the allowance was granted with the full agreement of every other team in the league. It's called democracy.

  19. Olly Holt has been very supportive throughout with little snippets of support for SOS appearing quite regularly! Today's almost full page in the D.Mail is a great read!

  20. OR get a rider in so they come to 37 points and put forward the case that the limit should be lowered and other teams have to change

  21. He was a top bloke. I loved chatting to him at meetings - he always had time to speak. I have been to a couple of his photography exhibitions too in London, and he was a very talented photographer, and we did keep in contact on social media. Who can forget his planning and presentation of the opening night for the when he & Waggy took over....... RIP Brian Attached is one of his photos that he was commissioned to take recording the rebuilding of St Pancras station by LCR ( London & Continental Railways)

  22. Sad to read this morning on Facebook that ex Kings Lynn co promotor Brian Griffen has sadly passed away - some will say who I guess but Brian and Nigel Waggstaff gave the club two great seasons 1999and 2000 when the club should have won the league title but was pipped by Eastbourne on the last meeting of the season .

  23. Quite possibly, though I'd still say Workington is a better fit, if they are both interested and can agree terms.

  24. Perhaps teams, other than Poole, were concerned about his fitness, both physically and mentally, after his horrendous crash last season? Time will tell.

  25. Chapman & Godfrey the pair of clowns in charge of the BSPL at that time have to take a large amount of responsibility. Comical to hear Godfrey say he'll do what he can to get Rye back! You played a huge part in the club shutting you clown. Think Rye are in a better position than Arena or Swindon. The LVPA own the land not the twats(Ricky Musk & Kevin O'Malley) who ripped the track out & broke planning laws. The LVPA will be the one who eventually will decide the future of Rye. I'm sure their not happy that a tenant has broken planning laws on their land. The lease also says speedway & greyhounds need to be included on the site I believe. They have written to the tenants demanding some answers according to the Rye House Action Group. The council have done what they can refusing planning permission & taking enforcement action. They can't force the tenant to run speedway. The BSPL should be all over the LVPA saying we have a promoter ready to go in ASAP. The infrastructure & planning permission are already in place. I have no faith in them though. It's a wait & see. I think the first half of the year will see whether there is any future for Rye.

  27. Aside from the demands for punitive fines to be dished out to all and sundry for breaking planning laws, etc etc., oh and fining Len Silver for selling the club to BMR !!! After the blame game has ceased is there really any possibility that some magic fairy will instruct anyone anytime soon to reinstall a speedway track on he site at Hoddesdon ? Almost as much chance one thinks as an alternative Lakeside venue being resurrected by teh developers backed by teh bankrupt Thurrock Council. OR the Swindon track being reinstated 5 yards from the back gardens of the new des res housing developements. Let us not forget the hand that BSPL dealt to the enthusiastive new Rye House owners BMR by chopping of their prime time Saturday evening racing slot in the PL. Seems to be all too conveniently forgotten that little nugget.
