  1. Scunny definitely not over paying based on what was offered and accepted by us. 10 more meetings is the key for us not money or a league title that really dont mean a great deal

  2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvapQLnPRiY Here is a reason why your suggestion should not be considered Just watch the emotion from Jeff Davies in his interview & then consider the support from thousands of people from all around the UK & Europe for retaining the stadium. Also consider the huge support from the local residents of the area around the stadium who voted heavily for it to remain when a survey was carried out. Indeed when the fund raising appeal to help with the cos tof the SCS group obtain a legal representative for the inquiry was opened there was a large contributution made by the residents of the properties immediately next to the stadium. That is an indication of the level of support this fight has. Developers always use the same tactics when they aquire land without planning & usually the councils roll over , in this case they haven't & I say well done to them for fighting this out.

  5. Surely there's insurance, medical costs, referees, tyres, travel, upkeep, and whole lot of etc costs to be considered, before you start talking about bums on seats to cover wages.

  6. The spare tyre is one previously issued and marked and inspected by the machine examiner and it Must be used. Fuel is not supplied to the riders you have to buy your own

  7. Thanks Dave for posting that video, Jeff deserves some serious award for his dedication along with many others in the fight for Brandon. It’s heartwarming to see the little men win the battle with a Goliath.. On a personal note , my back straight spot sounds like it’s still. In decent nick.

  8. Whole host of unforeseen costs as you have covered as well as bonus points needing to be paid. £100 apoint would be reasonable if riders supplied thier own tyres and operated on reduced travel costs. Scoring points should be incentivised more.

  10. I think Workington will be fine , follow Scunthorpe & Redcars blue print of most things in-house and ice cream van etc pay to enter the stadium ,raffle tickets etc .What you need is a hard working band of helpers and your halfway there

  11. this is the issue, other clubs were already sorting their riders for this year in the middle of last year, Birmingham didn't know what they were doing so missed out

  12. Chapman & Godfrey the pair of clowns in charge of the BSPL at that time have to take a large amount of responsibility. Comical to hear Godfrey say he'll do what he can to get Rye back! You played a huge part in the club shutting you clown. Think Rye are in a better position than Arena or Swindon. The LVPA own the land not the twats(Ricky Musk & Kevin O'Malley) who ripped the track out & broke planning laws. The LVPA will be the one who eventually will decide the future of Rye. I'm sure their not happy that a tenant has broken planning laws on their land. The lease also says speedway & greyhounds need to be included on the site I believe. They have written to the tenants demanding some answers according to the Rye House Action Group. The council have done what they can refusing planning permission & taking enforcement action. They can't force the tenant to run speedway. The BSPL should be all over the LVPA saying we have a promoter ready to go in ASAP. The infrastructure & planning permission are already in place. I have no faith in them though. It's a wait & see. I think the first half of the year will see whether there is any future for Rye.

  13. Why haven't the BSPL taken the licence off Russell yet? Any serious association would have had the licence off him as soon as he joined Osbourne in making that statement about speedway not being viable at the Abbey & joining Swindon Mototorsport.

  14. The Aces just got mentioned on German tv. An actor in an interview showed his Belle Vue badge and said a friend of his rides for the club. Guess it is Blödorn Seems he also participates in Flat track. Got a nice Triumph in the studio with him

  16. No double headers planned and the lad has been very sensible in his deal as he realises the benefit of riding for both Redcar sides. Bearing in mind how many local lads are in the NDL team the club have saved a fair bit anyway.

  17. I am sure new tyres are supplied "in house" & only the spare is the riders As regards the fuel, I think this is also supplied by the home track as to minimise "dodgy" additives used. In the past, additives(nitro) was fed through tubes in the frame & also additives could already be in the containers the riders use. A track examiner can not see every thing that goes on.

  18. It is a very practical solution. Presuming Redcar hasn't started to get their track unto speed, it is sensible and more practical to get track time at somewhere near them who will have their track prepped for their amateur meetings. I wouldn't think the racing will amount to much but getting on the track, testing and setting up their bikes and having a bit of opposition as well as a bit of chin wag with their new team mates and management will help them set up their season perfectly. They will certainly be fit physically and mentally with Gavin in charge.

  20. Nothing wrong with practicing on a different track, especially one with less dirt on than Redcars. Many teams hire other tracks to have a day out on, for all sorts of reasons .

  21. Somebody has to finish top and somebody bottom but in a ideal world everyone would win the majority of their hone meetings with good racing to keep the home punters happy. What people will soon tire of is clatterings on home shale where the away team rocks up and gates their way to 55+. We've had plenty of those at Lynn over the last few years Some have suggested that away wins might be at a premium this season and I hope thats right. The same for injuries, rain offs and therefore guests & R/R would be nice too.

  29. Wasn't he on First Dates as well??? I look forward to Alan's business partners examining his proposed investment into BSPL So you don't own any stadiums, haven't got enough riders and the average age of your customers is 88..... .....you don't need £250k mate you need a miracle. Nice pies though.

  30. We only made the change because Marcin decided he needed to leave to prioritise his Polish club. No one wanted him to leave. Once he had left, we signed the best rider we could according to the riders available, which happened to be Vadim once it was established Patryk Wojdylo couldn’t be signed. The rules around 5 point averages were queried at the 2022 AGM, so everyone agreeing to the rules understood the ramifications. Maybe they thought it would never happen, but they agreed the rules. No one said the rule was stupid until it was used.

  31. Is this a serious post?? Football stadiums are 24 days for 90mins?? Club shops 7 days a week, executive suites 7 days a week, 7 days a week restaurants, function suites, stadium tours, charity work, 100s of office staff required 7 days a week.

  32. To be fair, they’ve come a long way quickly. I’m sure it’s just a matter of priorities and how quickly they can get to all of them.

  34. Ice-cream vans, etc, pay the promotion a set fee to let them come in and sell to the audience. Guaranteed income for the Comets. Takes a lot of strain off the club, although a little less profitable than running the outlets themselves.

  35. A good thing for comets promotion is that every penny that comes into the arena, admission, car parking, food and drink, sponsorship etc, is all their own, no rent to pay, but you have more costs than riders wages, other major costs need to be factored in to the equation, like medical costs, insurance costs of electricity/generators, track equipment etc. In the interview Steve lawson said a break even figure of 600, which imo will be easily achieved, let's get behind the comets promotion and be like Oxford then speedway will be here for many years UTC

  36. Thanks for the info I would say that the Promoter, who's putting all his hard earned money in...is being very badly advised by someone who's putting no money in and their level is MDL.....

  38. You'd need more than that after you've paid the VAT. I honestly think that paying any rider £100 a point in the (watered down) Championship is madness.

  40. No team survives on gate admissions alone though (there wouldn't be many clubs left if that was the case). There's plenty of other revenue streams - sponsorship being the main one, plus merchandise and programme sales, catering profits, media profits, plus others I'm sure I've forgotten. Appreciate it is the main income, but it's not just black and white like that.

  46. Think you have answered your own question - if there's speedway in Poland paying £1000 per point why would anyone bother racing at BV for £10 a point ? Expect the usual field of British Talent , with a few last minute "sickies" requiring a few NDL fillers to make up the numbers. Programmes £10 each , inflated admission charges, didsy track prep as its a "shared" event and sounds like over priced hotel accommodation. What's there not to like ?
