  1. Brandon Estates Appeal has been dismissed !! More news to follow apparently

  2. A riders worth should be based solely on how much money is coming into a club. Doesn't really matter how much any rider wants to spend on equipment / mechanics / vans etc. Clubs should only pay out what comes in.

  4. We know it doesn't mean that speedway is coming back to Brandon necessarily. But it's a massive victory for the SCS team and all the hard work they've put into this. They were facing a seemingly insurmountable set of problems from a company with huge resources to throw at the problem. But right is right. This is a morally correct decision.

  7. Not far off for Oxford. I would go for 1985, rather than 1986. 1985 was the first league championship for 21 years. The first time (for a whole generation who hadn't been around in 1964) is always special. 1986 was an even more successful year, but the weather meant it finished in anti-climax. In contrast, the final home meeting of 1985 was the KO Cup Final with Oxford beating Ipswich in a last-heat decider - which I would rate as the best-ever meeting at Cowley.

  8. Well, no it's not really. Speedway has a points limit, otherwise, what you are suggesting, the teams with money would be 1-7's of 7,8 and 9 point riders, while all the others would be 2, 3, 4's etc. And, as I keep saying, just because a rider "demands" a certain amount, clubs don't have to pay it and at the end of the day either the rider reduces his demands or doesn't get a ride.

  11. A fantastic result and congratulations to all concerned. Now, following this decision, can a similar appeal be lodged by the powers that be at Peterborough or has that local council supported to building scheme at the Showground?

  12. A great day for British Speedway, it's only a (bloody fantastic!) step in the right direction and there will no doubt be other hurdles thrown in the way but hopefully this at least sets a legal precedent

  13. Credit also to Helen Hockenhull for coming to this decision and allowing the fight to continue

  14. I’ve heard through the grapevine the final rider is all signed up. Obviously things can change in speedway so if there’s been a little hiccup, I’m sure the promotion have options and are making sure they select the right one. Either way, it’s a decent team on paper. Fingers crossed for a successful season for the comets.

  16. Another factor to take into consideration is that Lee Complin rides for Glasgow most Friday nights.

  18. From personal experience we found that it was a must to have 2 complete bikes and a rolling chassis for a back up in case of a crash and a third engine sat waiting to go in when one went for service when doing 2 leagues . If only doing national league with the sparse fixture list would of got away with two complete bikes as alway time to get stuff fixed or serviced

  20. Interesting to hear the assessments made good and bad of the Oxford Spires. Can Magic recapture his form (When JD signed for Ippo there were a few of their fans who said he was finished would they say that now),how long will it take Bomber get dialled in (I don’t remember him struggling around sandy lane across the last 2 seasons) and so on . While they’re maybe a few doubts I know that we are in for an exciting season across all three leagues and I can’t wait.

  23. My season ticket arrived this morning. Due to working away a lot, I'll be lucky if I get to 3 or 4 meetings. However that has been the case for many seasons and that hasn't stopped me in the past buying tickets via trybooking for speedway meetings even though I knew I won't be attending. Some may think that is mad, but it's just my way of giving back to a sport that gave me so much joy during my childhood and teenage years. And I'm happy to be called mad, rather than some sad poster who has little to nothing good to say. Chill out people enjoy your favorite rider, enjoy your favorite team or just enjoy the speedway. Bring on season 2024 Karma. "Go Hawks"

  24. As it’s a slow work day, I decided to sit and do the maths on this. So a third of that is about £650 a point, let’s just say Artem scores 10 points then £6500 plus extras (flights, mechanics etc) comes to £7500 a meeting £7500 divided by £25 entry fee = 300 people through the gate just to pay for Artem and that’s before all other costs, the other 6 riders plus stadium hire etc. But that then got me thinking there is no entry fees when riding away so that’s another £7500 on the above assumptions so you’d need 600 people per home meeting to cover home and away costs for a number 1. Now I have no idea how accurate the above figure is, nor am I saying anything against the riders as they have big expenses but it just made me realise how difficult it really is for these promoters.

  25. They had no choice if they wanted to continue.. And, maybe, the TV deal could also have been in jeapordy if they didnt move up? Personally, given Brums' historical lack of interest from their local community, I cannot see it ending well, but let's keep our collective fingers crossed for them..
