Scunny fan here really hope Cooky finds his form and Workington have a successful transition into the Championship4 points

same, I think some of the comments are disgraceful about someone who's clearly had mental health issues.2 points

Not wanting to take over the Poole thread, but from Glasgow’s perspective, it’s undeniable the 7 riders we will start next season with are clearly weaker than the 7 we started 2023 with, even putting the forced change for Vadim to one side, which did make us stronger. Must be true of others too. Doesn’t mean we won’t get good racing, of course.2 points

Good move for Cook and here’s hoping it’s a good move for Workington. With the way they’ve gone about their business, they deserve success.2 points

Considering cooks had a higher average than masters ever has in this league proves you're talking pish2 points

2019 is four years ago. Not recent. Cook is a good signing for Workington. A former GP rider and one of the top men in the second tier on his day. Hopefully it’s his day more often than not next year, it will benefit everyone if it is.1 point

Indeed. In 18th February 1928 The Register (Adelaide) had a piece on Sprouts Elder and mentioned "They will return to Adelaide and Elder expects to contest here in a fortnight's time, and he will thus only miss the speedway races at Smithfield next Saturday. After seven years of speedway riding Elder is just now coming into his own." For instance in the 18th February1 point

No pressure on him, worky not that type of promotion, track only 10 miles from home and most of away meetings less than 3 hours away, also got a correct diagnosis of his issues, so hopefully onwards and upwards . Hope cookie and worky have a good season1 point

To a certain extent I bet Buster's son wishes he got away from his Dad earlier than he did lol.1 point

Craig Cook comes in as Workington's number 1 I have to say that if I was the promotor I wouldn't have touched him with a bargepole but maybe this season he won't walk out on his club at an important time of the season, who knows.1 point

A report on FB about the JSH Cup JOHNNIE HOSKINS FOUNDERS CUP run at Kurri Kurri last night. What a debacle. What was going to be an individual was changed to a two, seven man team event due to the non appearance of two riders. No real problem there except the paying public were told half an hour before tapes up. Who is in which team? What are their riding numbers? where are the programmes? purchased one at Maitland on Friday for $10 but nah, that's no good, believe half of what the commentator tells you, I'm sure he was doing his best but constantly wrong. If you are running a teams event how the hell do you get an individual winner? My question is, why change the format? I'm certain a few phone calls to local juniors would have found two replacements willing to race with the big boys. The Kurri club did very well with track preparation considering the heat, yes half an hour plus late in starting, I get it, but we all knew it was going to be a 40deg day three days ago, rather than let the public fry while waiting, could the start time have not been put back an hour? I will be back, but hell ...........1 point

Osbourne is a business man nothing more nothing less and his decisions/opinions are based on money, when you get the higher up the money chain you find morals and scruples get less and less, people like him would stamp on their own Nan to get the money, if speedway was in a better financial state he would change his stance, he doesn’t break any laws he just doesn’t do or say anything in favour of speedway cause it’s not making him money1 point

At the moment most teams going with two big hitters , Poole have the potential to have four with Lawson, Brennan and the Cook brothers.1 point
-
No knocking Brennan his a good rider, no one can dispute that but I just think we could have used his points better.1 point
-
Yes it has,and if there is another rider coming in at No1 above Cooks average your are going to have avery weak tail end of the Team IMO.1 point
-
Fail to see all this”knocking” of Brennan,he is still young and a quality rider. There are not many riders on 7+ average whose away average was higher than his home. There are number of riders whose home average is all that makes their average decent.Once he dials in to Poole he will do the job for them IMO.1 point
-
It’s not a weaker league, it’s a more balanced league. Aside Basso, Dougie, Tarasenko etc who were not going to race Championship in any case due to Polish commitments, Im not sure which riders have been lost to the league? It might make teams like Poole weaker as they can’t pack 3 top averaged riders in, it doesn’t make the overall league weaker.1 point

@Pauldoveyspeedway if you (not just you, many are not rating Przemek) are saying racing in Poland is different to racing in GB (which it clearly is) you could use that as a reason to SUGGEST Przemysław Pawlicki won't be as good as Musielak over here, or that he won't be a guaranteed "number one" but that doesn't mean he WON'T / CAN'T be better than Musielak! For example Sayfutdinov is better than Doyle in GB & Poland, Doyle is better than Holder in GB but not the GPs. Bewley is better than Fricke in the GPs So Pawlicki could be better than Musielak over here, but could also not be!1 point

I think it’s great that cooks signed for a team where he’s loved, it’s a bit like my team with barker if the rider feels wanted they always perform that little bit better, I no the comets fans will give him all the love and encouragement and hopefully Craig is in a good place comfortable in his surroundings it all bodes well and I can see him being one of the top riders in the league. Well done Workington and good luck Craig I look forward to seeing you down at Plymouth when hopefully you will have your one and only stinker lol.1 point
-
So glad my fave has a team place, I reckon Craig will be back to his best in 2024 and Workington track will suit him, he has had a couple of difficult years, Hope he has a cracking season even though I am a Glasgow supporter1 point
-
And he’s over that now, and has a proper diagnosis. You can’t say that he isn’t one of the top 3 riders in the league. Arguably number 1 as consistently proven over the last 10+ years1 point

I wouldn't mind betting that To a certain extent Buster wishes he'd just let you bunch of ungrateful b@stards go under when Ged Rathbone had had enough, rather than keep the place going. If Tomalin had put his money where his mouth is last winter you could all be blaming him now., you could have " enjoyed" Chris Holder for the season aa well .Can't blame Buster for not showing up at the rally, I wouldn't have either if I'd been slagged off that much.1 point

Why? Craig struggled last season and still scored big points. He is back boxing and looking trim. Why comment that when you know nothing1 point

The Facennas are very successful business operators, if they say it’s not financially viable in Glasgow, then it is not financially viable. I have no doubt that if Premiership moved to Friday then that’s the league they would operate in, same as Birmingham who haven’t gone up out of choice, they’ve gone as Monday is the only night they can now race. To suggest they are being tight is a tad harsh when they have literally invested millions in the stadium and team, way more than any other club. But the day to day economics have to add up, they don’t feel there is a hidden community of speedway fans hiding in Glasgow who would only come out for Premiership speedway. Also the notion of a “weak” league I don’t think stacks up, it is going to be a more even league with the bigger riders spread around more but opportunities for younger riders to break through. It should make for closer league, but it’s hardly like you had Doyle Woffy & Sayfutdinov in the Championship last year. Sheffield’s traditional night is Thursday (they tried Sundays once and it was a disaster), that’s one of the reasons they are in the Premiership. And Lee Complin I seem to recall dragging Glasgow over the line to get into the Grand Final so I probably wouldn’t start by having a go at him lol. Different things work for different clubs due to various factors, Glasgow it’s Friday nights. It’s not lack of ambition, it’s good business.1 point

I Agree , However, I don't think he is a particularly clever conman. Bizarrely, where money is involved, there are still too many people willing to accept what he says at face value. A quick check on his business dealings over the years would reveal all. As they say, 'There's none so blind as those who will not see.' Osborne is nothing but a total faker.1 point

I made a podcast with Peter Facenna and in it he answers this very question.. https://pod.fo/e/1f7be0 But in a nutshell, mainly race night. The numbers would probably drop and the lure of top riders wouldn't balance it out especially as said riders would want a lot more money for the privilege. So less fans, and bigger expense, and they don't think that saying Tai Woffinden is in town would really add to it enough. So it's purely a business decision, but have listen to the interview and Peter explains it very well.1 point

I think the biggest issue behind moving up to the PL is racenight. I think Fridays nights work well for a Glasgow crowd with the odd off night when a rescheduled meeting needs run1 point

From a leicester fan don't fix what isn't broken. We moved up and the crowds have slightly dropped and I can't say the racing is any better. It's good seeing top notch riders but there isn't much else I would shout about.1 point

Basso and Douglas seem to be the only riders missing next season. Tarasenko was always just a short term rental. While supporters may want it, would they turn out in sufficient numbers on Mondays and Thursdays to make it viable?1 point
