in fairness i have not posted any red herrings since he agreed to come to Scunthorpe . all were statements of fact at the time of posting was a hard decision for the lad when the hardest thing hes had to choose before is red sauce or brown on his bacon5 points

You are missing something. The lads 16 year old and will do a great job at reserve.Outstanding Young Brit which what this watering down is meant to be all about.4 points

Should be a great signing for Scunthorpe - would have loved to see him return to Redcar but can understand the lure of riding for your local club!4 points

Unless I’m missing something, I really can’t see what the hype is about Luke! From what I can see of last year’s scores?? I hope I’m wrong but what does this say about our plans for next year??3 points

https://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/92139-premiership-2024-confirmed-signings/&page=1 14.45 left Rumour is that it'll be Bartosz Zmarzlik & Mateusz Cierniak filling the last 2 places3 points

Your second point about not arranging it that way is spot on If it needs a double header the easiest way (and it’s still a bit of a pain) is charge people the full price on entry then offer a partial refund as they leave before the second match. Edinburgh did that for a double header last year. The main downside was seeing a queue prob 200 deep that weren’t staying for the second match which was pretty disheartening really.3 points

Let me tell you watched Luke Harrison a lot at Workington last year this lad is the real deal for sure brilliant signing for Scunthorpe2 points

Also suffered a nasty injury pre season didn’t he? Ended up missing the start of the season. Done perfectly fine in my eyes for basically his first full season of racing in the championship and ndl.2 points

Solid signing from the Tigers & he will have to improve his Ashfield form… Cami’s quotes are legendary so best to not take it seriously.2 points

Yeah, level headed young rider who showed a promising ability and desire to come from behind. Very good signing for Scunny. Good luck Luke.2 points

Very good signing for Scunny. Already shows race acumen beyond his years, a very level headed young man who should go far in the sport. Thank you for your time at Worky last season.2 points

What’s frustrating if you know ,or is it you think you know.Your not going to see them till next season anyway.2 points

If Joe gets a team spot but Max doesn't I'd be disappointed with Leicester (although they are just trying to win) but also with the BSPL, should be a rule that you can't ride in all 3 leagues. After all of you're good enough for the Prem, must be too good for the NL right?2 points

Charge the oaps more,,, that's most of the crowd,, and its mostly them with all the spare cash. People like me that live alone that private rent have very little spare cash available once we have spent our money on essentials like booze, drugs and hookers2 points

Yeah really hard to watch the gps last season. Almost giving the championship to zmarzlik. Too many throttle jammers and not enough track craft used theses days.2 points

It was so frustrating this season watching lambert boss the heats and then choose gate 2 and give big guns gate 1 to just push him out of the way. Happened 3-4 times. I get he’d won races off two but if you’re backing yourself to make it off 2 just back yourself to make it off 1 and when you do you’ve got the advantage to push your opponents out like they kept doing to him.1 point

Luke Harrison is a great signing. I saw him a few times last season and he never looked out of his depth and at 16 he can only get better.1 point

Sad to see Dave Darcy stand down... I'll admit I'm not sure at all what his input was to the club but he was always there during all of the comings and goings through the years and must have been a steadying influence1 point

Like the lawson signing. Think everyone at the club wanted him back. He Will benefit riding either at 2 or 4. Him and fricke as 1 & 2 is a deadly duo at home.1 point

On the subject of Berwick fixtures last season I rang them up and asked if I would be able to get into the home match v Scunthorpe as I’m a scunny fan and asked if I would be able to pay the standard price for a championship fixture of approx £20 as I would be travel home after Heat 15 of this fixture as this was a double header with a Bullits fixture in the lower NDL league to follow . They put me through to someone and he stated as this was a double fixture the top price was the only price available as the Bullits were racing against Kent in the lower league . I refused to travel as time and diesel from Hull it wasnt worth the expense . Subsequently the 2nd meeting was cut short to 11 heats and and Berwick missed out on an adults match fee. .1 point

I think the danger of dragging it out too long is that you risk annoying your loyal, hardcore fan base. If the idea is to keep the club in the media spotlight over several weeks then this can be done in various ways once you've named your team IMO. In mitigation Glasgow have got the wonderful idea of the charities as part of theirs which is fair enough.1 point

The problem with using averages is it's easier for a rider with a 5 point ave to get a team place, even if he's been riding for 15 years & will never develop past that level, than for Perry in her s second season to get a team spot as he's improved "too much" I've often thought what if your average was divided by the amount of NL seasons you've raced? Something like after one season get 25% off your average, 2 seasons 20% off etc, after 6 years, no more reductions? Just a way for a rider like Perry only 16 not to miss out on a NL place because he developed too much too soon?1 point

Under 10’s free, up to 16 £5, 16-18 £10 would be what I would be looking at. No point having free until 16, as the 17 year olds just stop going when being charged adult prices.1 point

Becker/Douglas/Lawson/R.Lambert would all be great signings...but I guess 3 of them will be at Leicester?1 point

Would have thought he'd have confirmed he had a spot before now instead of presuming he had one, Dad's meant to be a nightmare and was shouting in pits at last meeting about how they had a spot in CL with Poole.1 point
-
Yeah, I could see that. Although I would be tempted to put Tom at 3 whilst he settles in and then possibly change it after that. (providing he is signing of course! )1 point
-
I mean it's a fair question, and only time will tell. Personally I think he's still improving and is so good round Poole that I think he'll be fine, but he'll find life hard in a few heat 13s & 15s away from home I suspect.1 point

Agreed. Ruml was definitely one I would have liked to see back - arguably rider of the year in 2022 and was very unlucky not to be retained. Guessing perhaps he's staying in the US now.1 point
