Myself and Carl Johnson attended the Parish Council meeting this evening with about 25 supporters (thanks guys). I spoke at length to the council about the current situation facing the club and I am pleased to say that the Parish Council have agreed to submit an application to Peterborough City Council to apply for the Speedway Track and surrounds (including the grandstand) to be considered for an Asset of Community Value. The fact the Parish Council has agreed to do this (we never asked them to do this) is very pleasing and it demonstrates that the Parish Council of Orton Waterville (which covers the Showground) are 100% supportive of Peterborough Panthers Speedway Club being retained in Peterborough. I suspect that would have been the best attended Parish Council meeting of the year, extra chairs were required, although I think initially they thought it was some sort of Internet Flash Mob that had turned up with flags and banners! Special mention to the (very) young Panthers supporting children who came, you guys were amazing. Thanks also to Cllr Julie Stevenson for her continuing commitment in our quest to retain Speedway in Peterborough.6 points

Should have been Cheetahs in the Prem, Chargers in the Champ and Spires in the NDL in my opinion.5 points

I agree with most of your comments except that some blame must rest with the BSPL who have effectively said no to Mildenhall running a few open meetings. Why anyone would want to work with a regime that tries to prevent you operating a business at any stadium and earning some income from the assets that they hold. It is largely the attitude that caused Kent so much grief and it was the last sort of pressure that Si Kellow needed given his poor state of health. You would hope that the governing body would have worked with Kent, but no not this bunch. You have to wonder who is really behind all this and then wonder whether they are proud of their actions. Two more tracks probably lost to the sport who join a long list and no one on the top table really cares as in each case they are sitting thinking i’m alright, why bother about anyone else. No wonder the IOW got out, it will not get any better. Still one positive for the BSPL, four less tracks to have to administer in 2024.3 points

Imo it's a team that meetings will be tight up until latter heats but with Nichols and masters in 13 & 15 and presumably Jenkins in 14 will probably win all at home and good few away as well. Atkins and heeps look weak 2nd strings compared to this season, but when my own club rumoured Pearson and starke doesn't look so bad! Definitely be in the play offs3 points

You wouldn't want Chapman involved in any campaign. Has no people skills and even his own son hates him. Look at the number of people he has fallen out with. The issue is he is sitting on his fat arse whilst all the passionate fans who want to save the sport are doing all the work. He'll then lump up the price if they are successful. Putrid, but sums up the sport. The powers that be should be removing licences at Peterborough(Chapman) and Swindon(Terry Russell) as they are damaging the sport and those clubs.3 points

Interesting wording in the NDL announcement. "no rider who has achieved a CL average of 4.00 or above will be eligible to take part". That reads as in ever achieved over 4 in the CL....wil try and compose a list later but means a lot of 'big' names pushed out of the NDL....and in reality a decision long overdue.3 points

Every team is going to be the same with the league being watered right down. Killen and Boughen probably 2 of the big hitters from the NL. Still got the big 2 Nicholls and masters but will need Jenkins to step up a touch to back them up. Early days yet to be calling teams rubbish when hardly any sides have announced riders.3 points

We do seem to measure the young Brits far too critically... They don't need to all be a "Robert Lambert", just being a "Simon Lambert" will be more than enough to help the sport going forward in the UK... Starke, Complin, S Lambert, Barker, (and probably many more), all fill team places over here each season, and all have been quite a way from the "top level", yet all ensure teams come to the tapes each season.. It's the same with the "rising stars" and, "professional juniors", who, now after three to four seasons of riding, are now very close to their level that they will continue to ride at, naturally replacing the older Championship Second String level riders mentioned above.. Just let the lads ride and see where they get to.. The sport needs UK riders taking up plenty of the team places so let's just hope they reach that standard first...3 points

Don't think it is negativity as such - more a frustration. He has a good talent , decent speed and big balls - not too bad a combination for a speedway rider I think his issue is possibly physical limitations as opposed to skill. I believe he suffers significant 'arm pump' which has caused the difficulties in the latter stages of meetings/races He did a really good job stepping into a difficult position with a significant proportion of meetings not only outside the RS spot for the first time but actually in the main body of the team His average is a decent achievement in those circumstances Yes it could be argued he dropped important points but remember he could only drop those because he got in the position in the first place. Many in and around his level wouldn't have had that chance to 'mess up' Danyon took some commendable scalps and overall more than did the job asked of him3 points

As a bit of an old git nowadays, one of the biggest whines I've heard over the years from supporters of many teams is we have different riders every year. Oxford have 7 riders who rode for the club last year. Four of them and potentially five if Cameron Heeps rides like he is more than capable of. I'm happy with the team, we might win the wooden spoon but I doubt it. Last season I thought we were way too top heavy, I was wrong. All I know is the season ain't over till the last heat, I'll be there for every meeting I can get to in all 3 leagues.2 points

Because the mods aren't really Championship followers. I think most of them support Premiership teams and can't be bothered with the Championship thread each year.2 points

Did Sheffield bottle the cup final? Oh yeah they did. And then pick n mix for the final. How is lambert this season? Oh sorry his isn’t part of your team, nor is Harris. And you have the most hated brothers in speedway in the holders. Jack bottled his third place in Grand Prix final when I was in Toruń. Facts. Have a good day2 points

Tom, for me, is a rider that will have a career similar to Steve Worrall.. A 3rd HL/Best Second string, depending on the top 3's level based on the team ponts average strength.. A good solid rider rather than a "world beater", (as they tend to be those who can pass opponents often as well as gate), and there is nothing wrong with that... Wish him the best for next season, its been good to watch his progression at the NSS..2 points

Packed with potential. I'd perhaps have go e for Rowe rather than Heeps but as had been said the loyalty is a good thing and perhaps they've gone for his extra experience.2 points

Yes and no. Because League Two is a professional league, whereas the new NDL looks to me to be the equivalent of a reserve/youth league. There’s no grey area in terms of stand-alone teams now. I’d say it is definitely being pitched as a process for development and training rather than being a competitive win at all costs league first and foremost. The lowest “professional” league in British speedway is now the Championship it appears.1 point

Using the Prem Lge footballer analogy, it's a bit like a former PL footballer wanting to play for a Lge Two side and not being able to because he once reached a much higher standard.1 point

For me Allit hasn’t been mentioned in press releases and Jorgensen isn’t in the 2024 team do feel for Simon Lambert as he did nothing wrong and everything right last season1 point

I no it’s not really my place, but I hope it’s positive news about your stadium, riders come and go but Wimborne road is iconic and needs to remain a speedway stadium. I have good memories of many many years ago playing football there and it having Astro turf for corners because of the shape in the beazer homes league, unfortunately the dogs went, the football moved but the speedway needs to stay.1 point

Your Opinion is valid my friend, but for me they don't start as Favourites, i think it's wide open this season, and i don't think Sheffield are as strong as they make out, i'm probably wrong, but i don't see them retaining their title. And i'm not saying Ipswich are Favourites at all, i just think it's wide open, and their are 2 or 3 sides that look stronger than Sheffield on Paper, but they dont race on paper i know??1 point

New sites were looked at ,one particular one was Brandon village way close to the A45. but that one was ruled out there were others I’m sure but I forget now it’s been so long. whatever happens what a fantastic campaign that has been fought by the SCS group . Kudos to JD and the team.1 point

Would love to see Puk do well but as said hes old now and coming back from another bad knock. that said, with no pressure on him at all he may well do okay. However , as one of my all time favs right from 2003 when signed at Newport on a 9.0 average and classed by many as an awful signing , id love to see him have a great season. At 2 or 4 around Lynn, you never know. class rider in his day, dominated the polish and uk averages for a couple of years and made world number 3 . If only the old school bsf posters Racer X and Jungle Jake still posted here... i always said he would have a better career than their beloved Zagar, Janusz K , Jonas Davidsson and Bjerre and was proved right!1 point

But shows no desire to fight to keep it open the people of Peterborough clearly want him to move on to. If you think what is going on or isn't is acceptable for an owner of a sports club in the heart of the city then I'm sorry you're the problem. It may feel good as. King's Lynn fan on the outside here thinking he's got one over on Panthers etc but this doesn't look well on you guys either and Lynn fans are innocent in this. You can see why people are throwing accusations around currently as he's saying absolutely nothing and leaving it to others to fight his fight without handing the club over. All it would take is a big rallying call on the club social media pages and website along with the local press and people would back it as it stands I'm afraid he looks complicit by doing nothing.1 point

I admire the consistency approach, however.... this shouts out, were needing to pay 21 riders this season, let's sacrifice a team to bring down costs. As mentioned above, probably only 1 rider away from being OK, but Heeps.... come on!1 point

I think it’s more Chapman than Holder - when Peterborough dropped Holder before a wheel had turned and brought in Pedersen instead - that worked out well - NOT!!1 point

No idea but neither party can be a chooser. Joe Thompson is the best RS available around Leicester and he needs the experience and money. Dickson needs a RS who can ride Leicester well and have the beating of the oppositions RS at Home most weeks.1 point

To be fair the majority of NDL riders aren't looking to make a profit just cut their losses. Free practice is one thing but the fixtures then need to be held on more hospitable dates, namely weekends. Try telling a rider that he needs to invest heavily every winter, use multiple holiday days for midweek fixtures and be dictated to when/where they ride. There is a sport wide problem of paying more than clubs can afford but if the move is towards an amateur format it won't be practical to run a nationwide league.1 point

Six clubs have already stated their intention hopefully they'll all follow through with that. But after rumors of no NL, I'm just happy it's continuing.1 point
