At this stage! That's a good one. He's taken a club down, poached their assets, left genuine Peterborough speedway people (and some would say genuine speedway people) to try to salvage something from the mess that he presided over and left. His last act is to cling on for some reason to seemingly stop the consortium moving forward. Although the council motion: "To arrange a meeting between the current owners of the Peterborough Panthers Speedway Team" suggests different unless it's a typo? Chapman deserves everything that he's getting although he is quite welcome to put out a statement of clarification. He did it in the summer when he felt the criticism at that point was unjust. Panthers contract at the EoES has finished, as has the AEPG deadline to clear the site so what's holding him back now? One can only assume that he doesn't give a stuff and has got everything that he planned and wanted? The floor is his!5 points

Myself and Carl Johnson attended the Parish Council meeting this evening with about 25 supporters (thanks guys). I spoke at length to the council about the current situation facing the club and I am pleased to say that the Parish Council have agreed to submit an application to Peterborough City Council to apply for the Speedway Track and surrounds (including the grandstand) to be considered for an Asset of Community Value. The fact the Parish Council has agreed to do this (we never asked them to do this) is very pleasing and it demonstrates that the Parish Council of Orton Waterville (which covers the Showground) are 100% supportive of Peterborough Panthers Speedway Club being retained in Peterborough. I suspect that would have been the best attended Parish Council meeting of the year, extra chairs were required, although I think initially they thought it was some sort of Internet Flash Mob that had turned up with flags and banners! Special mention to the (very) young Panthers supporting children who came, you guys were amazing. Thanks also to Cllr Julie Stevenson for her continuing commitment in our quest to retain Speedway in Peterborough.3 points

Good to see Emil back, All the controversy about letting him ride over here this season and he turned out to be most people's favourite rider, Genuine nice guy who's got a lot of time for everyone, Will always give 110% and he's not here just for a pay day and to take the mickey out of the league. I've never experienced watching Emil around Foxhall (Only the Showground) so it'll be something to tick off my bucket list in 2024.3 points

He's getting away with this very Scot free currently and it doesn't overly sit well. All I see as a fan is our club closed down, track dug up without a fight from the owners of the club. The fight is being conducted by fans and a consortium who want to take the club on, fine but what's happening with taking the club on? Is the current owner playing ball or just taking last seasons Panthers to King's Lynn? Even the last meeting was poor and left everyone wanting more3 points

So so quick round foxhall but while others who are quick look on the limit Emil is in total control of the bike. Never looks like he's on that fine line between winning or binning it. Great to have him back.2 points

If you’ve followed Polish speedway for the last few seasons, you’ll see that Wiktor isn’t on the up at all. Almost the opposite. He looked so promising a few years back and looked like he could be set for a massive breakthrough - but has rather stalled and if anything gone backwards. He’s abit awkward on the bike and not a naturally fluid rider but he still has potential.2 points

Whilst other riders sign with clubs, Artem Laguta is giving the Panthers every chance to run in 2024. Artem told his manager that it's the Panthers or nobody.2 points

One thing is for sure. Home wins are going to be crucial next season. It looks to me it will be like it was all them years ago when away wins were rare. looks a good season on the cards2 points

Nope. Most are likely to have one due to the low points limit. I'm glad that's not the rule, stops the likes of Ben Trigger missing out on a team spot because his average is "too high" at 2.08 for example2 points

Motion to be tabled at the next full Peterborough City Council meeting to be held on Wednesday 6th December 2023. This will be live-streamed. 6. Motion from Councillor Stevenson The team motorbike sport known as ‘speedway’ has been of great credit to Peterborough since 1970. The local ‘Peterborough Panthers’ team has won the highest level national championship three times, most recently in 2021. Over the years, the club has brought many trophies to our city at various levels within the sport, including junior level. Peterborough Speedway has put the city of on the international map, via regular live TV coverage broadcast on the Warner Bros Discovery TV channel. Since 1970 until now, Peterborough Panthers has been racing on a purpose-built racetrack, thought to be one of the best in the world, on the East of England Showground. The showground’s current owner, the East of England Agricultural Society (EEAS) now wishes to sell the showground, and the council’s local plan states that the land may be developed for housing and leisure. However, AEPG, the company tasked with preparing the showground land for sale on behalf of EEAS has made it clear that the Peterborough speedway club is no longer permitted to race at the showground with immediate effect, regardless of the outcome of its two existing planning applications to redevelop the site. (In an article published in the Peterborough Telegraph on 21st November 2023, AEPG said, “To be clear, the decision not to renew the arrangement for running speedway meets would remain, irrespective of any planning applications on the land.”) The landowner and its agent having confirmed that the club will not be permitted to race at the showground after the end of the 2023 season (which has now concluded), means that club now has nowhere to race, and with nowhere to race the club cannot continue to operate and the sport of speedway in Peterborough may die. As a matter of urgency, Peterborough Panthers Speedway Club must now find a new home. 96 This council acknowledges: The enormous cultural and economic benefits that Peterborough Panthers Speedway Club has brought to Peterborough over the past 53 years. The many benefits Peterborough Panthers Speedway Club brings to the residents of Peterborough, many of whom have spoken of how the club has contributed positively towards their mental health and sense of wellbeing and community. That Peterborough Panthers provides positive role models for young people who are interested in motorbikes and provides a means for them to enjoy motorbikes as a sport in a safe and responsible way. This council resolves: To arrange a meeting between the current owners of the Peterborough Panthers Speedway Team and the council leader and relevant cabinet member(s) and council officers to discover if there is any way the council can help to keep the sport of speedway alive in Peterborough. To promote speedway in Peterborough so that more of the city’s residents are aware of the benefits this family-oriented sport brings to the city. The track and fence isn’t really a great problem, the grandstand and lights are the most important and with the recent council planning noting that LP 30 applies to speedway , the removal of the fence and track on AEPG orders hasn’t gone down to well with anyone least of all the council planners or Sports England.2 points

Don’t think there is many would argue with that - im a KL fan and I’m first to admit Chapman has treated Pboro speedway and it’s loyal fan’s terribly - if it was the other way round im sure KL fans wouldn’t be happy far from it .Then Lynn sign the 2023 Panthers riders it’s not a good look for Chapman - it’s not the riders fault they are there to earn a living .1 point

It is a shame injury has curtailed his career as other teams in the Premiership, GB Youth & Poland saw his potential at such a young age but he is now in a well paid job.1 point

Would think that having both KT and Paco would be unlikely so maybe betting would be on the latter ? Also it is 6.48 v 5.30 so it would free up a precious extra 1.18 points which could prove valuable ?1 point

One of those British riders in particular would have meant a very, very good looking side but it is what it is. They seem to have tried very hard to use all the points but sometimes it doesn't work out. I'm happy they've had a clear out and have signed some proper racers. Just need to get the track right.1 point

You're falling in to the 'bad management' trap. Lawson & Harris are decent but on their current averages what do they add?? They have little to no improvement on their averages which will = losing meetings. I'm sticking my neck out & saying King's Lynn will make top 4 with this septet. If not, 100% the fans will be entertained with Musielak, Tarasenko, Basso & Wojdylo. Having Rowe at No7 will be huge.1 point

Although not what speedway fans would like to acknowledge. The case presented by BE lawyer did appear to be quite solid in many aspects. By contrast, the SCS evidence presented was somewhat "hearsay" with little or no data provided to support the verbal statements given. The BE lawyer latched onto this in his summary, especially relating to attendance figures, the costs involved to revive the Brandon site, and the viability of running a speedway promotion. Not to mention that the "new team" intimated by Phil Morris has failed to materialise (though I don't recall Mr. Goatley referencing this). On the upside, The RBC case was sound in defending their decision to reject the proposed plans on the grounds they did so, especially the need to protect open spaces and the avoidance of urban sprawl. It will, more than likely be the RBC case that wins the day (if it does) re the appeal being rejected. If the appeal is rejected, rather than going quietly, Brandon Estates will either draw up revised plans for the site taking into account the guidance expressed by the planning inspector or, given that Goatley referenced case law for the inspector to consider which if not suitably accommodated in a decision to reject the appeal, then BE may feel they have reason to challenge the decision in the High Court on the grounds that the Planning Inspectorate made a legal mistake.1 point

Then that’s just unlucky unfortunately and even more frustrating! Stick either of the two mentioned in that line up and it would have looked tasty. Fine margins. Still has potential though. If Wotsit does similar to what Tenko did this year then it could be in the mix. Gonna be even more impossible to predict the play of four this time. Luck will play a huge part.1 point

On a 5 point average Lampart would be a great signing . Certainly a rider I would expect to put a least a point on his average . He may start the season at number 6 in the reserve berth , he would surely pile the points up from that position .1 point

Point taken, with regard to the injuries. I'm taking the positive view, that they will recover, well. Any way I don't expect Connor Coles not to have been snapped up.1 point

The change of point scoring system in the GPs has taken away the importance of squeezing every point out of a meeting and placed the emphasis on reaching and winning finals. Therefore it’s no coincidence that Zmarzlik does what he needs to in the heats and then comes on strong for the clutch heats. IMO the scoring system should be changed back. It puts more jeopardy on every race of the series for each rider. In theory that would produce more competitive racing.1 point
