  1. Yep, I'm convinced he's already done a financial deal with AEPG that see's him assist the bulldozers by demolishing the place. 1. Encouraged everyone to give up from the get go instead of putting up any kind of fight. 2. No progress has been made in selling the club to the consortium (I wonder why) 3. Buster couldn't sell the floodlights to Workington quick enough. 4. Buster assisting AEPG by slowly demolishing the place. If he wanted the club to survive then he would've made a quick sale to the consortium who are willing to fight tooth and nail to secure the clubs future, The fact that he hasn't sold the club and refuses to even put up a fight to secure the club's future tells me he's a corrupt pig working for AEPG.

  2. There is a track already, which is currently having a brand new stadium being built, actually n Swindon itself.. Maybe someone could run Speedway there? It has been ran in Swindon, quite successfully, for a good many decades... Has anyone told Terry about this site as it sounds perfect... Or, if he does know about it, and doesnt want to use it, maybe someone else would like to open up Speedway there? The Swindon Robins could be a name to consider for the team...

  3. Difference being Sheffield have 40pts to play with for 6 riders + Rising Star. 38pts in Championship is ridiculous.

  4. Good solid rider years ago but I suspect the injuries are catching up , This team building to 38 points is starting to look more ridiculous by the minute if that is the rumoured side.

  5. I was initially aghast at the thought……but the assumption is that they will operate Premier and Championship meetings on alternate weeks. (how that will pan out is anybody’s guess) and the NDL will tag on to one of them. If it does work, it will give the fans speedway once a week which I think is what most of us want.

  6. Surely Vadim will still be on a 5 for next season. Surely.

  7. If the sport could unearth 20 or so Kyle Howarths it would be in a much better space

  8. Agree with regarding the watering down of the sport. It’s not really doing anything to attract new fans with its Mickey Mouse set up.

  9. And presumably that's why he was at the End of Season bash on Friday evening - discussing terms for when he comes back into the team just before the play-offs

  10. From 'Tears & Glory' : ..... on April 20 [2007] Reading thrashed Ipswich 60-32 at Smallmead in a fairly routine match. At the time comment focused on Kolodziej's first maximum and the pre-meeting withdrawal of McGowan after he aggravated a back injury in the pits. However, UK Sports Council Doping Control Officers were taking samples from three randomly selected riders. [On May 9 it was announced that] One of them – Danny Bird – tested positive. Bird was suspended pending testing of the 'B' sample. Once this also proved positive, a hearing was arranged. Bird's samples revealed traces of benzoylecgonine, an indicator of cocaine. He did not attend the tribunal held in July and received a two-year ban and was ordered to pay £1150 costs.

  11. There's a reason why Simon Lambert and Kyle howarth are well thought so..it's not there ability so much, its the hard work, Good equipment, honesty and leadership. All them things go along way..

  12. Clubs used to run every week with a 16 club British league, and still have spare dates for cup and individual meetings.

  13. It is a lowering of standard absolutely. But it is being framed as such to re-establish the difference in levels between the top and second division. Something that it is important to do as there have been too many blurred lines between the two for around a decade now. The problem for customers will be that they won’t see that reflected in the pricing. Overall I think it’s a good move for the sport but again has been done in a bit of a wishy-washy manner.

  14. Time will tell,I personally don’t see crowds flocking back to Championship Speedway any time soon.Be great if they held their own though.Money from streaming more likely needed to keep Clubs afloat. Can’t keep charging more for lesser goods.IMO

  15. Alot of Glasgow fans were hoping the rumours of bomber signing last season were wrong but that didn't turn out bad. Teams are going to look weaker on paper with the 38pt limit compared to the team you finished with especially Glasgow. Fortunately for me Plymouth can't be any worse!!

  16. To an extent I understand going for a predominantly British side. Out with bombers long track commitments shouldn't be great deal involved with rearranging meetings unlike this season. But can't pretend I'm excited by that 7. Worrall, solid though he is, doesn't replace basso in points and certainly not in entertainment value. Let's hope the rumours are wrong lol

  17. Did he really need to announce Rob Lyon and Basso on the day of a rally, may be a little thing to many but comes across as insensitive

  18. With the comment of "the sport doesn't attract young fans I beg to differ, yes the sport can always do with more fans young and old but the problem is how do you get them to attend the sport? Back in the 60/70s when I started going it was mostly a family outing, these days how many family's do things together apart from watch tv? The first meeting I attended on my own was Wembley 71 and I could walk from home to the stadium in 45 mins and the same home again after the meeting. I was 14 that year and lets be honest how many of us would let our son or daughter do something like that these days? Yes the latest generation need to be tempted to speedway but exactly how? In 2022 my grandson was gifted a couple of free passes for Sheffield speedway by the Bluebell Woods charity and he asked me if I would go with him and his family to a meeting as he knew I was a speedway regular at one time. From that meeting in May that year to the end of the 2023 season I think we have missed one match and we have also attended a few away tracks as well. He is obsessed with the sport and on the phone to me daily with speedway updates he has found out, AND to go with his obsession he has a subscription to the Speedway Star and he had a 2023 subscription to BSN. The lad is not into football as much as he is his speedway and its all down to Sheffield speedway and the Bluebell woods Charity for those couple of tickets.

  19. I think your right, it doesn't make any sense why is he holding onto a club he considers to finished/value less. He has stripped the assets (fence and lights) so the sale should be really straight forward unless of course he has taken the brown envelope.

  20. That was certainly the rumour…..if it is, a lot will depend on his performance. You’d think he’d improve on that average…..at Ashfield at least.

  21. In other news Carl Johnson has just outed Buster Chapman on facebook. What great support the savepeterboroughspeedway has, and that proved that yesterday at our rally. Huge support for the survival of the club and a massive thank you to everyone that turned out in not the best conditions but I’m glad that didn’t stop you. A little disappointed that we’ve had no backing whatsoever from the official Peterborough Panthers Speedway, but it looks like we fight on alone for now.

  22. I'll cheer on Ipswich too (Not as a Witches supporter but as a neutral fan) I'll nip down to Foxhall a few times to see some live Speedway next season. I was going to cheer on everyone but King's Lynn in 2024 but I hope Ipswich go one better purely due to the fact that Richie Hawkins has supported us during the toughest time our club will ever face.

  23. There's been a lot of people saying Oxford running in all three leagues is madness. I was initially a little perplexed by it as well, but every other fan I've spoken to has been quite excited about it (bar the Spires name) - and all are saying they will try and go to every home meeting. Not a single person said they would only focus on one league, so maybe it's not such a crazy idea after all. I guess time will tell, and perhaps people will naturally start missing the odd meeting here and there - but the crowd sizes will tell all. Last season the Cheetahs were averaging around 2,500 fans I think, and the Chargers were around 1,000. They're good numbers to build a base from, and it means they've got the finances in place to deal with potential losses if it all goes horribly wrong in 2024 - it won't be a case of the club going bust. Worse case scenario the promotion will just have to reevaluate for 2025, but good luck to them.

  24. I'm currently planning to go to all meetings of all three teams but I live 50 miles away now so it simply might not be feasible. Cheetahs will probably still be my primary choice in the Championship, followed by Spires and then Chargers will have to miss out if I struggle to get to all of them. Season ticket options might also play a part. I'm hoping there will be season tickets available for individual leagues this year, as opposed to all meetings in one bundle like last year.

  25. Weekly Speedway is a good reason for 3 leagues but a couple of rain offs and they will be in trouble with re - staging given riders availability these days.Bold Move.IMO.

  26. I see the short term benefits to make clearer boundaries across the two leagues, however, there continues to be a huge air of arrogance from promoters who will still put prices up (or hold them) and expect paying punters (who are also feeling the pinch) to foot the cost despite seeing a lower level of product. The sport is dying in the UK, and the inevitability of one league has never been so clear. Trying to make re-establish levels will just make it a harder pill to swallow when we move back to one league imo.

  27. Agreed entirely. No protected heats just let the riders compete, some will succeed sime will fail thats how the sport (should) work. The reduced limit is almost doing what its supposed to which is bringing new riders in and pushing those at the top creaming the easy money out.

  28. The fast track format was horrible. If the riders are in the meeting they have to be in the meeting properly. And no differing ways of calculating averages for me, it’s just unnecessary complication.

  34. Yes I agree 100%, Obviously I don't know exactly what has or is going on behind the scenes, but in my eyes Buster definitely hasn't helped the Panthers cause in any way. I won't be going to Kings Lynn again, Unless the Panthers are reborn and they visit there again as the away team in the future.

  35. The NDL lads will certainly pack a punch to any meeting. Their talent maybe raw at times, and their times maybe a second slower, but they don't hold back. These guys are the future of British Speedway and without a directive of developing them, then unfortunately there wont be any speedway. From what I have witnessed this year, the only difference at times was the name on the back of the race suit! As the racing /entertainment was no different to any Premiership or Championship meeting. Its great to see the likes of Woffy, Holder, Harris, and Sayfutdinov, but Boughen, Harrison, Mcgurk, and Hagon are more than capable of providing the same entertainment. Therefore the same value for money.

  37. A very brave move cause all the logic suggests its not viable. The only place that in my long time following British speedway where I've seen 2 seven man teams at one track work was when Cradley ran at Wolverhampton a few years ago and even this fell by the wayside eventually. This worked cause Cradley was an exceptionally well supported club. Even back in the glory days of the late 60's and early 70's Belle Vue and King's Lynn tried running two teams at the same track in the the top 2 Divisions (yes they were only 2 Divisions in them days before anyone mentions it!) and eventually moved the lower tiered team to another venue (Belle Vue Colts moved to Rochdale while King's Lynn Starlets moved to Boston!) cause fans chose watching the senior team over the before mentioned lower tiered team. Most people who follow speedway haven't got the disposable income to follow two teams. What will likely happen if one of the Oxford senior teams is having a mare is that supporters will probably do what Belle Vue and King's Lynn supporters did back in the 1968-1970 period and chose to only watch one team. I hope it works but speedways history, common sense and logic suggests not.

  40. Can't a rider on the RS list ride at 6 as just a normal reserve? Pretty sure Ipswich used a rider on the RS list not as an RS a couple of seasons back. Definitely going to be contenders for the title again.

  46. must admit - I was pleased Sheffield won the title for him, in 2022 he didnt have the best playoff final and was slated a bit for it so it was just rewards for an honest trier to get rewarded in 2023. I will try and get to his testimonial as well. whatabout it?- The comment was about Woffinden not Doyle!

  49. I'm guessing Bomber's reference this week wasn't to the Championship. I'd hope we'd have been told if he wasn't coming back. As far as I know, Glasgow know who they have for next year, so my conclusion in that everyone we haven't been told is leaving, is coming back. Seems the most logical scenario to me.
