  1. There IS a solution and it is a BREAKAWAY like in the 60's I think Adrian Smith (much missed) was closeset to advocating this and was effectively ground down by the Management Committee. How could it work, and could it actually be done without rancour and massive disturbance. The issue lies not with the BSPL solely on this. The structure needs changing and the SCB needs abolishing. The ACU who link to the FIM need to authorise 2 separate UK bodies - a PL body and a CL body (once authorised and with FIM approval and DIFFERENT titles they could become autonomous) Let the PL as we'll call them for now take the Discovery Money Let the CL as we'll call them for now take the kudos of the Owners of Glasgow, Poole and the experience of some of the excellent Promoters in the CL and go their own separate way. Allow some Riders to double up / a select number of heat Leaders and an age restricted section (under 24) so each can have 2 from each group. All the PL would need to find then is 18 riders from round the globe who could ride PL only. Over time this could be wickered down or left as it is if required. It won't be easy, it won't be pretty but it needs doing and it needs doing NOW! Other sports can do it...The PL and EFL work under separate auspices, the TCCB and the Hundred work under different auspices, various Rugby Union bodies work under different auspices, Darts wourks under different auspices. It DOESN'T have to be "all out war" it can be a Parting of the Ways for the benefit of the Sport.

  2. Why should the Championship have to suffer to preserve the “so called” Premiership when only a handful of the different riders in that division are better than the present level of second division riders…..the majority are the same riders anyway. It’s a farce. I know it’s unlikely to happen but surely, logically, it’s time for one league with each team meeting twice home and away.

  3. Not sure that would be any better, let's say for example 9.00 = grade A, 8.00 = grade B, 7.00 = grade C etc. An 8.99 rider is the same grade as an 8.00 rider. But a 7.99 rider is a whole grade below 8.00. Doesn't matter where the cut-off is, some riders would become far more valuable than others! The use of averages certainly has it's flaws, but it's the best system available imo.

  4. I was a big advocate for him to be dropped this season before his injury, but half of the reason was due to his idiotic average, the other half being his home form. I wouldn’t be against him returning next year though.

  5. Absolutely ridiculous notion when you consider that he is 22 and racing in an era when many riders peak over 30 (Freddie Lindgren 38 this year for example), and has markedly improved his average every year including the current one.

  7. Absolute nonsense! Can’t wait to see him prove you wrong. Why are we so good at writing off our own young talent in this country

  13. Ipswich need to be harsh with Doyle. He is 38 and is not going to get any better. I would go for Artem Laguta or Maciej Janowski.

  22. If Stuart Dickson said on Saturday night there would be 2 or 3 new faces then by my maths that means 4 or 5 old faces so if he was fit to ride again then he could well be.Slightly more realistic average this year than last right enough

  25. A victim of fighting with your team mates maybe? I've always thought Brennan comes across really well with his public persona but now he's been binned off by Glasgow & Belle Vue

  26. I do find the use of averages still a completely unnecessary system where teams that are successful are ripped apart. Teams are built to a decimal off the daft points limit and then we see multiple team changes throughout the year. Riders should be graded and throw the calculators in the bin.

  27. Haha, mine was slightly in jest but according to bjarnes social media he is building a bike up with the caption ready for a comeback so was just putting 2 + 2 together he’d easily still do a job in the championship imo.

  36. It’s not the first time he has had a pop at me, thing is both times he has had a go I wasn’t talking about him, i was making general points about speedway, I couldn’t care less really, I don’t retaliate, I tried to answer his points but he then just got personal so I just ended by saying enjoy you’re career I know I did,I saw the week after the British final he was chucked off speedway friends on FB for insulting some fan, reading his post after his drug ban(with a smug grin) I felt he was laughing in the face of the SCB and speedway itself

  43. I've never killed anyone whilst driving a train, a car, a motor bike and hope I never do,nor seriously injure someone. The impact must affect anyone with a conscience who does. The incident at Edinburgh when Craig's bike injured a photographer will have affected him deeply. He was totally blameless. Mental illness is silent, it is terrible and not to be underestimated or laughed at. Craig is many things but for gods sake let's cut him some slack and let him try to rebuild his career his confidence and his self esteem.

  44. This season was won by myself. That makes it a 7th consecutive year for a different winner! Adz was very close and Hawks adds a bronze medal to his gold medal from 2 years ago. The winning team was Jenkins, J. Thompson, Pearson, Roynon, Killeen, James, Harrison. Roynon predictably made a mockery of his artificial average. Despite usually being a popular pick, only 1 person went with Atkins for his breakthrough season. Pijper & King were the most common picks of riders who dropped their average.
