So Glasgow are doing further track upgrades, building a training track, creating an Academy ( bikes already purchased and arrived from Poland) , adding more seating to the new stand on bend three, invested in TV, Radio and Newspaper advertising and several other projects going on behind the scenes , so how exactly is that 'cutting the cloth relative to income of the club' ?? Glasgow promotion are focused on investing into the SPORT and not just the club.6 points

The whole idea of the play offs is to build the season to a crescendo and far too often recently it builds to frustration and ultimately chaos without the firm scheduling of Tv contracts to work to. It's time to abandon play offs unfortunately for anything other than the top league where Tv demands it4 points

Welcome to the Glasgow Tigers 2024 page, but thought I'd mention something that has got nothing to do with 2024. Just watched the 2023 Grand Final home leg on BSN - its really worth watching. If you don't know the score, Glasgow won 52-38.4 points

Several hours after the meeting got pulled and still no official word on the club or speedway GB's social media (who didn't even post a meeting preview, which is telling)? What a poor way to end the season and to treat those of us who went along in good faith. I hope Oxford have more success for those who go Tuesday. Said the exact same last season, but it sickens me to see how the National League, full of riders learning their craft, get forgotten about until well into October and expected to race on totally unfit tracks that even experienced riders would struggle with.3 points

And then they would ask for a track that would produce the least entertaining racing in the league, so thanks but no thanks3 points

That’s a little unfair on Championship clubs. How many teams have been better than Glasgow over the course of the last five years or so? And that’s no disrespect to other clubs, e.g., Redcar, who have built some very entertaining and challenging teams. Even if they haven’t won the league, plenty of us would make sure we’re in town when they are. Winning can be fine margins, and so much depends on injuries. But how you go about it is very important too. Just see the NJL debacle this week for that.3 points

That's so true! And it's in Tenerife again(rather than uk) to discourage any promoters from walking out!!!2 points

He won’t get chopped mid season either! The kind of loyalty the Ipswich promotion showed to riders (particularly Riss) this year won’t have gone unnoticed I’m sure.2 points

Think Glasgow are a fair bit away from a Scottish GP, but a long term plan and focus on providing supporters and new fans alike entertainment, facilities and hopefully some more silverware on the way.2 points

Exactly, hence the 'practical' comment. Or perhaps he's going elsewhere, or is too expensive for the budget etc. I like the fact this team has four Chargers/NL riders in it. There's a lot of potential in that mooted side with a top two to match any. It's a bit of a blueprint for others.2 points

The 2023 season started in march and finishes in October, the Lions race Mondays or Thursdays SO why at this time of the year are they still trying to complete the cubs season? There are plenty of Saturdays between March and October for the cubs to race. At this time last season I seem to remember the same problem matches to complete, Rain and a track that does not like to let the water head for the drains. I love my visits to Leicester, but gave today a miss because I was 99% certain the matches would not go ahead with the amount of rain that has fallen over the past week or so. I think its a poor show by the Leicester management, they know what the track is like and how long it takes to bring back to life after being waterlogged (unless they were hoping for divine intervention this morning by the sunshine fairy )1 point

The precedence was set last year so presumably the double header will happen at Lynn some time in November?1 point

What are they going to do? Lock the doors and hold them in as hostages? Doesn't matter where it is, people can walk out if they want, just means they will be able to go on the beach (weather permitting, but it's bound to be sunny !!) or back to their hotel.1 point

Yes they are the champions this season, let's see if they can now win it on a regular basis, then you can start comparing them with Poole1 point

That would be quite a descent top 4 with Tom, who proved in the playoffs he can ride the Poole track1 point

The Facennas visited Matt inPoole a couple of seasons ago to get all the hints and tips to build year on year successful teams. Good to see they took it all on board at least for one season! Let's see what happens in 2024. (BTW are Plymouth definitely running)?1 point

But Lisa they won the league end of no ifs and buts, you can’t harp back to what’s gone on before history is history this season there promotion and manager out foxed yours and the rest of us by winning the league.like I say what went on before this year is history Glasgow are the reigning champs and well done Glasgow and now the fords are up against a formidable force in the owners of Glasgow and there cheque book is probably a lot bigger than the fords and they will want to do it again next year just be big enough to admit you blew it like we all did and Glasgow are now the team at the top and Poole and the rest of us are the chasers not the champs.1 point
-
Why would they want Matt ford to build there team there the champions not the losers.1 point
-
Glasgow are in a great position to do things that probably no other club in the country can,so fair play and well done, final two moves reqd, bring in matt ford to build your teams and Pete Adams to manage them!!1 point

What I was told last nite at the worky end of season sold out presentation nite, was still lots of things to be decided/ confirmed dispite lots of previous talking could be an interesting promotors conference1 point

I think the premiership is a waste of space, so predictable, you know exactly who is going to be in the top 6, and you know exactly who is going to be fighting the drop1 point

Slightly off tangent but whilst on the NYMR last week I spoke to a passenger who was from Hoddesdon and was very aware of Rye House and the present situation and on discussion found out that his great Uncle is Clive Hitch (who is still with us) and son Martin who both rode speedway...I remember watching Clive when riding for the "Robins".1 point

Ellis should be a great addition to Ipswich next season. His dad will fit in very well with the fans as well as he also loves a good old bite on the forum and social media!1 point

Bournemouth should go down this season. Along with the recently promoted 3 , they are nowhere near premiership standard.1 point

Just need to get Barker in for Hume and then Ipswich will be red hot favs imo no matter what anyone else looks like. Adam Ellis has always had a GSA either side of the 7 point mark until this season, One bad season doesn't turn a good rider into a bad rider imo.1 point

Surely anders Rowe would be the perfect fit for Oxford, and be re-united with his mate Henry from there Somerset days as team mates.1 point

Im with you here. Whoever gets him is a getting a very smart signing on that average. Dropped over a point off his average last season, and let’s not forget he averaged over 8 the season before. He’s not an age either where you’d expect him to be on a permanent decline so his current average looks very attractive. No denying things didn’t go to plan last year for whatever reason, but a poor year can and does happen to several riders. The way this sport works, that then makes them attractive signings!1 point

Thought I was mistaken when I thought Adam hadnt been too good around the NSS.. The BF apart obviously... But, no disrespect, to win the BF you are not racing against any overseas top talent, just your own level of rider (Dan apart)... If the Aces sign him I presume it will be to strengthen away? But, to be honest, I would keep Charles Wright as decent away and, can be, box office at home...1 point

If it's correct It's a 38 point team, the league is achieving exactly what they want by diluting the championship down. The window on Poland has been all but closed. I know by responding to your nonsense it'll be classed as "biting" but the reality is that every team in this league is going to be far weaker for 2024.1 point

There you go again…..how in God’s name do you know he’d prefer the Workington track? He’s been a master at Armadale for years. You just open your mouth and let it flow, don’t you?1 point

How about waiting until the actual 1-7 is announced before making predictions on the coming 2024 season?1 point

Spot on Cheese .. The thing that makes me laugh or cry .. Who has ever heard of someone putting you out of business and making your asset virtually worthless but then setting up a company the next day with the same people . its just insane . Swindon Fans don't want Osboune or Russell running the club or the ones looking or not looking in there case for a new site . Russell needs the Licence taken off him with immediate effect .1 point

Is an interesting debate, to be fair, as I know people who say Lasse and others say Borke. Both different riders with different aspects to work on.1 point

I think Max Perry has gone under the radar in the NL, while Boughen has (rightly) been lauded as am future superstar, Perry who has a higher NL average (from a more difficult position) is not talked about anywhere near as much.1 point

Start a bike up for 20 mins and see how quick a resident complains. All the stadium and pits building is just a tick box exercise. Sadly, the Abbey won't see speedway again and the BSPA will just hope everyone gives up and it disappears without a whimper. Have the BSPA ever come out to defend Brandon, Wolverhampton or Peterborough? They should be up in arms and have legal bods all over these venues to prove speedway has a following and a place in society. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't recall seeing anything..1 point

Interested to know why? Lasse has been VERY unlucky with injuries but can score well when fit. Bastian seems to have a big problem with gating. You can get away with that on a couple of tracks but not the majority.1 point

Hearing that Sayfutdinov, King and Ellis are nailed on. Could also keep Doyle with something like this potential league winning side.... E Sayfutdinov 10.10 J Doyle 9.12 D King 7.05 A Ellis 5.57 K Rew 4.00 B Barker 3.96 D Thompson RS = 39.800 points
